I think I just nearly had a heart attack watching this. Part of me wants to do it and the other part knows I wouldn't even get halfway up the tower before bailing.
@XxJayBeexX - All the anicipation fear going up the tower goes away in an instant the second you drop. Of course, there is a brief second or so when you think the net should have caught you already....at least I thought so, but it's always a great thrill!
@73RULAS - Thank you. I wasn't familiar with the site until I started to see the links show up in my reports. I was wondering where all those hits were coming from.
It isnt as scary as it looks. Im only 16 and Ive tryed it. Once you got the will and power you dont think about the rest. For people worrying about the nets. They are very big and soft. Im from Denmark btw
@nholt - This has happend before on other towers. It's not a great ending but I haven't heard if anyone has been killed. I know a few people have been injured though.
@marelicainavokado - She wanted to go last but once we got to the top of the tower she said it would be better if she went first. At least we captured her scream from above.
Thanks for the vid post...reading an article on perception in life threatening situations, where time seems to slow down...and did not know what a SCAD was. So for us watching...the fall seemed quick but for you?
There are quite a few towers around the world. I have done them in 3 different countries. I have passed other parks that have then but didn't get the chance to give them a try.
totally awesome video! I've only been one one scad tower, in the dells, but it's the best flat ride I've ever been on, and ALMOST the best ride overall.
Definately the scariest, though, unless you count the time my seatbelts opened on cornball express halfway through the ride O_o
I haven't tried the tower in the Dells but I bet it's just as good as the versions I have tried elsewhere. The last time I was in the Dells the tower was closed.
I agree though. I find it scarier than almost anything including skydiving and bungy jumping.
I didn't have a problem with my ears during skydiving but I have heard of others having that problem. The thing about SCAD diving that scares me is the fact you can't see the net coming. There is a second or so on the way down that always makes me think I went through the net.
Out of all the fall-type "rides" I have done like this (bungy, skycoaster, skydiving) the SCAD dive is the scariest I have done. I have maybe 25 SCAD dives/falls at various places but for whatever reason, this Denmark version seemed to be more intense. I am not sure if the drop is longer than the rest but there was something about it that really surprised me. I just don't know what it was.

Now if only we can convince the people who willingly do this to do it without a net, the gene pool would be far cleaner...

oscarjm 9 months ago
@oscarjm - You are welcome. Everytime I have done a SCAD dive it seems a lot longer than the few seconds it really takes to hit the net.
SeanFlaharty 9 months ago
yeah, tried today - good thing is i am 14 years old, so i kept the requirements.
- felt like i flew for like 10 seconds.
- and like i went upside down in the air, but then i got into the net.

@Geekftw1 - Good description! It does feel like the fall is much longer.

yup. I've been skydiving. SCAD tower is awsomer and scarier. mostly because skydiving hurts the hell out of your ears.
