@LoCoSHINOBI Thats because this port was, at the time, the most accurate to the Arcade machine. Tradewest felt the arcade game was too short, and thus added more elements to the NES version of Double Dragon, which in my opinion, made the game unplayable at times. But damned if I didn't enjoy it :-)
Of all the different versions of Double Dragon I played (on retro systems), this was the closest to the arcade version. I just wish they included the part in Mission 4 where the walls bulge out instead of making it a regular wall.
@Alymero that's because genesis has a really fast processor for a 16-bit console, which is great for shooters, puzzles or racers... sadly, because of the system's other capabilities (poor animation capabilities, visual effects, color pallete, and my anti-favorite: limited sound effects and music) couldn't afford highly detailed or large-sized games... and not much programmers could take proper advantage of its benefits:
@albertoalejandro0424 That's not totally true. Look at Streets of Rage 2. Excellent music, and very colourful big sprites. Double Dragon was just a lazy conversion with a small cart size.
Are you nuts? I grew up with a Genesis. It is my second favorite system, so this is no fan boy shit. The Genesis D pad was horrible. Probably the worste one ever developed, even worse then the 360's or the Nomad's. It's first weak point was that it was very stiff, but that's nothing compared to it's worst flaw. Have you ever done a 360 throw or a hadoken on one of those things? I swear they will take the skin right off your finger. It is like 8 tiny daggers tipping off 4 points of death.
Sega Genesis does it again my favorite port.

Is it just me or is this version turbo charged? I mean, the gameplay is a bit too fast paced.

How come Double Dragon wasn't released on the Sega Genesis until 1992? It would have done much if it had come out as a launch title in 1989.

The Game Boy Advance version of Double Dragon looks a lot like this version but looks nothing like the NES version.
