from invasion/metal days to their last one voyager. such a grand discography, perfection, up the hammers and blaze up up the manilla road! cant wait for another album!!!

I just noticed that the last song isn't Witches Brew but Hammer of the Witches.
I don't get this "Real Manilla Road" thing... Yeah, the band that returned in 2001 has a different sound but it's easily identifiable as Manilla Road.
I think you guys are mistaking nostalgia with music quality.
Manilla Road.......the Gods of Epic Metal....Invasion,Mark Of The Best,Metal,Crystal Logic,Open The Gates,The Deluge and Mystification.....the rest not exist.........God bless Manilla Road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everyone gets older so what's the point in talking 'bout REAL Mark Shelton? His late works have disappointed me too, but I would never use that definition for a musician that I love and appreciate so much!
My daddy gave Manilla Road their very 1st gig in Wichita, Ks. in 1977 at his bar named Dancin Boogie Your Butt Off on W. Central. They were just kids and were not even old enough to drink. My dad gave them the cover charge for their pay and they thought they hit the lottery! Mark is the best guitar player even today! He isn't the greatest vocalist, but he OWNS guitar playin!
Yeah, he's close to 50 years of age and still plays like a mofo (even though he needs Hellroadie to perform the more taxing vocal parts). Roads of Fire and Voyager are also both kickass albums once you get over the fact that they're not as blistering fast as the Road's 80s material.
Good old days Manilla.

I really enjoy their later stuff! And I mean Death by the Hammer isnt even that good.
PennyDreadful1 2 years ago
Death by the Hammer is their best song
warchild027 2 years ago
Nah its pretty sub par for MR.
Repetetive half baked verse riff and a less than good chorus with a pretty masturbatory solo....not for me.
PennyDreadful1 2 years ago
REAL Manilla Road? with Rick Fisher of course !! But this is also very special, what a bass GOD Scott Park is !
zachbos666 2 years ago
That would leave Crystal Logic, Metal and Invasion as the only real MR albums.....
And I mean Randy Foxe is one of the best drummers ive ever heard.
PennyDreadful1 2 years ago
And Mark of the Beast...allthough it's more psychedelic than metal and the band wasn't happy with it,but still it's got great songs and atmosphere.

If you really love someone then you have to be tough with him and judge his acts.

His acts?
PennyDreadful1 2 years ago
Okay yeah I watched some recent videos of MR live now and I admit it doesnt sound too good all the time.
But the new albums are really good!

Its still great

@heavymetal1983
Manilla Road live today isnt exactly something to get excited over since Mark Shelton's magic voice cant be upfront but his solo's are still great!
And all the newer albums have their moments of greatness even if Gates of Fire really only had one.
