The song " Nuclear Madness" by Joseph Lee Hooker was inspired by the book with the same title written by Dr. Helen Caldicott. The song was first performed live in Washington D.C. at a anti-nuclear rally on May 6,1979 where Dr. Caldicott was a guest speaker."Nuclear Madness" is on the album"Hello World"by Joseph Lee Hooker released in spring 2011.It also is on You tube uploaded in March 2011.
While the message she sends is fascinating and dire, what I tend to think the basic problem is not global warming, nuclear power plants, coal, oil, etc., as those topics are consequences of the basic problem. What I speak of is motivating the public to educate themselves on such issues and vote accordingly. Like the Dr. said, WE are the government. People tend to forget that aspect and alas they forget to care about such subjects and how much of an impact their vote truly has.
Thank you so much for posting this. I'm always glad to see talks by Dr. Caldicott, but I'm not glad that the present world situation makes continued talks necessary. She is always so motivating, though.
