Nice car runs good but I don't know what world record you are talking about and 1900 hp RWHP or crank HP it should be going faster with that type of power. a 7.99 is 100th of a tenth off of a 8.00 there is a camaro down in Texas that made 1809 RWHP and runs on drag radials street car going 7.20s . and I am no stranger to this. I built a big block Chevy mustang with a 106 mm turbo and was going low 8's and driving home from the track back in 2004

GTR - 3.8 litre V6

Japanese can have such great results with smaller engines.

Smaller engines = cheaper cars to buy and cheaper to run.

Think about it, the GTR is only two seconds slower than the ZR1, and nine seconds slower than the viper. There's no running away from it, if nissan had put an engine as big as the ones used in those american cars they'd do a hell of a lot better than that.

The viper and corvette are nice cars though.

@Larry3200 Nurburgring times have a lot to do with handling as well as power. The fact that the viper and vette have giant engines and can still handle very well is something to be recognized. Around a road track like that, power is essential, but so is handling. Just goes to show that American made cars are good in a straight line and around a track.

I don't know too much about the viper, but the vette's have GM engineered pushrod engines and GM engineered independent suspension, not modeled after any other manufacturer. They are american engineered and outperform most of the competition.

Both the Viper was run at the ring for a day and took the record, the Vette wasn't even gunning for the record but testing and took it prior to the Viper. Neither have any major assist, standard manual trans, and RWD. Japanese have great results from force inducting smaller engines. Making power either way is not hard.

The crew (or the guy) behind the car says it's making an average of 2500hp on the flywheel. If you look up 'Viper 7.11' on youtube it's probably the first video in the search results
