You're making it harder on yourself than it has to be. Start the same way you have shown but work clockwise (or counter. This will alternate after each knot.) then you only have to slip the 4th string under the first. Much easier. :)
good tutorial. and i believe that if you cross the cord when going through the loops instead of going straight across, it will make the lanyard circular, instead of a square. or thats how i remember making a round one back in scouts.
THHHHHHHHHANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I kept fighting with the starting, I had to watch this a few times but this was the best explination i found! Extremely helpful thank you thank you thank you!!!
Ha ha sorry about that. Its been ages since I've made one so I had a little trouble at first. The first and later steps are basically the same though so I hope you didn't into too much trouble

Honestly, I'd probably say this is the best lanyard guide (For this particular style) on youtube.
Gonig into knife making, can make the knives, but the lanyards are difficult for me. Thanks for posting, mate.

Two pieces 22 feet long = 44 feet all.
1 Blue - 1 Black
gave a dog lead of 33 inches long.
Techee10 1 year ago
@Techee10
Finished dog lead
2 pieces of paracord - 30 feet long - That is 4 pieces at 15 feet gives a total lanyard of 42 inches.
Now all I need to get is an Irish wolfhound - lol.
Hope this helps for those making a long lead/lanyard

Very helpful vid. Tricky to get started, but after the 1st few crosses it's easy going.
I used two 20inch lengths and ended up with a 2 1/4 inch braided length with a small loop.
Remember to make the piece you start with longer as you will need the extra length for the loop!

@mdtaranto my thought exactly...
what length of paracord did you use for the lanyard in the vid ?
Brutaliix 2 years ago
I can't remember exactly but I think it was around 19 or 20 inches. Better to have more and cut off any unneeded cord at the end.

Is there a rule to follow for length of cord to length of the finished product?
mdtaranto 2 years ago
I think I used around 19 inches of cord paracord in the video. So use that as a rough guide :)
Safer to use more than needed and cut off any amount not required

Very helpful! Great demonstration. Thank you!

At first I thought that you were failing to show the steps in such a way as to be helpful to a noob, then the vid seemed to even out. Nice job!
