Saw them live on Saturday night at Warwick Festival. Everyone including myself was dancing like crazy, impossible not to. Best live performance I have ever seen!
I love traditional folk music and I love surprising new versions when the innovations are soulful. What these folks are doing is great - Can't stop smiling when I listen. I just found them on NPR so looked here and am happy to get to see them
Wouldn't you agree though that what we have in folk is a tradition OF innovation, and for something to live on it has to change and adapt? Surely it's better for the same songs to appeal to a new generation through an adaptation of style than to preserve them in their assumed original state and thus lose them altogether for fear of doing them 'wrong'?

Nothing wrong with updating old songs, many new folk artists are reinterpreting old songs and bringing them to new audiences (Jim Moray for one) but there have to be some standards!
I'm not against innovation, just poor versions of good songs.
hey yeh they are brilliant, but best band from oxford???? have you not heard of Radiohead? but take nothing away from these guys, saw them at brampton and they were fantastic.
yeh so impacting! but the best thing about them is how well they connect with the audience. so many bands just play at you, but these guys made you feel involved. brilliance.
Great song by a great band.
Is it just me or does Jools Holland have a really odd way of talking? The rhythm of his speech pattern just seems off somehow.

@WintersweetPhoenix It's the first track off Burlesque - just buy that. It's worth the money.

@jamesmason01 I wholeheartedly agree. I can't decide my favorite album between Hedonism or Burlesque. Both are just so god damn amazing.

Annoying, fiddly version - listen to Peter Bellamy, Sandy Denny or Shirley Collins' versions to hear the song done properly.
Nu folk - pah!
