i own one and i heard a lot of good things about it. they didn't really talk about the cons. the cons are that u can't zoom while in movie mode. it also makes a clicking sound while it records.

its exactly what the description said it would be. id give it a 10. i was a little hesitant to purchase such a pricey item too but just make sure u review the sellers feedback and if u have any questions make sure they're answered before u place a bid. i was in a rush to get one cuz i had a concert to attend the following week so i didnt really do my homework but i lucked out and got a really great cam. and mine is refurbished so that explains the low price. it works just like new. good luck!

As far as the battery, how long does this batter usually last (not counting hours) but per say within a range from year. I am worried that if I get this camera, after about 5 years or so, the battery will be hard to find or obsolete. It's not like you can put AAA batteries in it

omg, I just bought mine FOR THE VIDEO. It goes forever til the card's filled up. It can zoom in, too. I brought back my Sony 120 because it wouldn't zoom. But the S550 only zooms in digital (not optical) during video. I was wondering why it wouldn't do very much compared to in the photo mode. I just read that.

Try a closeup in auto mode. My 4800 has macro but the pics come out blurred, so I shoot closeups (for eBay) on auto. There's a reason for it but I haven't checked my manual recently.

Yes, obviously the Nikon does have a better optical zoom. Um.. in the Nikon I love the color blue.

yes! you can leave the nikon coolpix S550 taking pictures automatically every 30 minutes or 10 minutes, of a flower blooming or a worm converting to a beutiful butterfly lol :)

Yeah, it takes sound. If the auto focus is on, it'll make this annoying clicking sound during the recording which is kind of distracting, but you can turn that off, and it still works fine. The video quality is okay.. On the highest setting it's pretty good, but it takes a lot of memory. & the sound quality is okay, too. It's not BAD but if you were to record someone singing, the high notes wouldn't come out as clear as one would want.

That depends on your SD card, not the camera itself.

Unless you have no card, in which case the internal memory is probably very low.
