@montana6426 Unless you're used to this music, it's hard to notice the melody and structure. Few people instantly like it, it grows on them after years of enjoying other types of metal. It happens by accident. Often through cover songs. After a while you get used to the sounds and begin picking up on melodies. Maybe it begins with a riff. Eventually you like the whole song, the band etc. But you rarely start with black metal, and you certainly don't start with bands like Satanic Warmaster.

Von's drumming influenced most of what turned into the norwegian sound (which is what this band is mimmicking) whether mayhem had formed a band before that or not. Have you ever even listened to the Mayhem Deathcrush? Is stereotypical black thrash like so many bands in the mid 80s. The album De Mysteris Dom Sathanas.was when they started playing in this constant steady blast beat style "second wave" BM. There are fucking pictures of Varg in a Von shirt.

A blaze in the northern sky was really the first released "second wave" album and coincidentally Fenriz of Darkthrone released an album recently "best of old school blackmetal" of stuff he was influenced by. The first track is the intro to Blasphemy's "Fallen Angel Of Doom" album. I rest my case.
