I remember when this came out. I was 16 years old and our high school drama teacher took us. It was one of the most powerful shows I had seen and probably was one that fueled my own desires to pursue acting in later years to come. Such a powerful, powerful show for reasons that far surpass the issues it deals with. Amazing!!!!!

My mother died from the same thing Jonathan died of and I found that out the same night she died it gave me a great connection with this movie and I fell in love with it...it was a little funny it was the first movie I saw after she died

Anthony's shared his story many times, and I doubt that he was crying during our interview. He's not a guy afraid to show his emotions, though, and he WAS definitely a bit choked up at times, especially when he describes that wonderfully transcendent shared moment of success when his mother saw him for the first time in Rent. For years, she'd been his primary source of support as he pursued his acting career. He's a good guy, and fame doesn't seem to have made him any less real.
