@kaitlinredmond I think they never showed him with a girl the same as McCoy, Scotty and Chekov because he was the only non-white male on the show. Remember this was the 60s, and Kirk kissing Uhura, a black woman, was a big deal. Maybe the they would have gotten a hard time pairing an Asian guy up with a non-Asian girl. Plus, in the polywater episode, it's sort of implied Sulu is straight, the way he fantasises about being a musketeer and rescuing women.
