@PaintballTF12 No orcas are not aggressive and they only spyhop to look for food such as seals, or penguins, because these look like tranisents, and to check on each other to see where the pod members are.
You can tell that these are northern killer whales because of the shape of their eye patch. They look very alien, and usually have more yellow on the white spots than actual white.
If you told me that the killer whales were "looking for food on the ice" while I was laying there I would have freaked! Even now I wonder if the video is so short because all these people were eaten shortly afterward.
Tell me, has there ever been a successful case of an Orca that has been in captivity for years that was released? What happened to Keiko?
Before you advocate for Telly's release, what makes you so sure he could even survive in the wild? Who should bear the prohibitive cost- surely you would not pass that on to the taxpayers, right?
Last thing. Is it fair to say that it may be imprudent to release an Orca that has already killed three humans? Just (ahem) food for thought.
@kmkfiction2 He can't be released. I didn't say release him, I said retire him to a seapen. Do you know what that is? Its a large floating enclosure (must larger than his tank now) where he can still have all the human care in the world but in a larger more natural enviroment. So he can live out his life in peace without the fiasco of SeaWorld
@kmkfiction2 and if he wanted to "hunt" Dawn, or whatever your trying to imply, he would have had plenty of other chances to grab her arm, or leg, or hair before. Which he never did. A seapen is a floating, very large, net enclosure that is secured to the shore. Keiko was rehibilitated in one. They use them for sick animals sometimes also. But they are about the size of a football field.
@kmkfiction2 Orcas in captivity still have their instincts but they dont use them everyday, so they dont "rely" on them. I did see the video of the orcas attacking the Pelican. But like I said before... there is a HUGE difference between a bird and a human he worked with daily.
Bull Orcas will viciously beat pinnipeds with less regard than a housecat affords a bird with a broken wing. Or have you not observed the savage attacks off Patagonia.
"But those are different Orcas!"
I suppose the same is true for different gene pools of humans?
@kmkfiction2 Ok obviously you dont know wild orcas. Tilikum is capable of those things yes. But that is not the reason he was shaking Dawn. He had no intent of eating her. He was shaking her because he had alot of cooped up frustration from something that was going wrong that day. Even if he wasn't in the same pool, animals can feel tension and know if something is wrong. Of course hes capable of thrashing things around but he never had to do that in the wild, so it was something brought
Is that so? I don't really know wild Orcas. If you impute silly inferences to me and create straw man arguments (e.g., Telly was trying to eat her), maybe you think you are bolstering your position. Listen. The "friendly" resident Orca have the same species-specific adaptations as the "transient" Orca. Violently thrashing mammalian prey is not unique to the transient populations save in your 19 year old mind. I'm sure the eye witnesses would agree that Telly was quite adept .
@kmkfiction2 Did I say that he was trying to eat Dawn? I dont think I did. I said the opposite. Resident orcas do not violently thrash marine mammals. Resident orcas live side by side and even swim with marine mammals all the time peacefully. The only marine mammal they ever have an issue with is porpoises, and that is a rare occasion. If you ask anyone who lives near/studies the residents and transients they will tell you the animals know the difference between the 2.
"Resident orcas live side by side and even swim with marine mammals all the time peacefully."
Are we talking about Darwin's world or Disney's world? I'm serious. You write as if resident Orca are not menacing predators toward any animals. That is just fiction. The are the wolves of the sea, not bunnies.
done that before. I can go with your theory of purposely dragging her in, because I can see a frustrated, agitated orca (with tendencies of violence in the past) doing that. I do think it escalted into something worse than what he orginally planned though because of her struggling and what not. But that is why Tilikum should no longer be at Seaworld. He obviously has some issues that arn't being helped with the bullying, and the solitary confinement + no excercise hardly.
So, to sum it up, I think Tilikum made a mistake when he was already slightly frustrated (because earlier there were some problems going on with the other orcas) This probably caused him to act out even more once he had Dawn. Add to that the anxiety and frustration of captivity I mentioned earlier, and the result is not good. Of course, no one knows what really happened unless you are Tilikum.
strength. Its like a possessive dog with a toy. Once he gets it, he's not going to give it back, and hes going to shake it and do with it what he pleases. Unfornetly this wasn't a toy and it was Dawn. I can't blame Tilikum's actions on his wild habits of hunting down marine mammals in the wild because he simply isn't that kind of killer whale. So Dawn was grabbed because her pony tail was probably mistaken as a fish, and once he had her, that was it. She was his. That is a guess of course
He just "isn't that kind of whale"? Oh, ok. How's this: if Telly wasn't "that kind of whale", Telly wouldn't be able to imgregnate a "transient" Orca whale. But guess what? They are just one species. The distinctions you mindlessly regurgitate are exist solely in your mind. Tell me, if "resident" Orcas' available fish resources plummeted, wouldn't they capture and eat marine mammals? That is what apex predator, opportunistic generalist feeders do.
The only reason Seaworld is keeping him now is for the soul purpose of his sperm ( as he is not in the shows anymore either.) That to me is not fair treatment. He needs to be retired to a seapetn, plain and simple. I dont think he "misses his pod". No one even knows who is pod is, however, he may have some memory of the wild, as orcas are very intelligent creatures and probably carry wild thoughts and instincts with them (especially when they were taken from the ocean at a young age like til
Why r we all of a sudden arguing mustangs and dogs when this is about whales? The assumption I made about Tillikum attacking because he is frustrated is an educated guess that is a probable reason for doing what he did. Anxiety and frustration (even more so because he is a bull orca) could have led him to attack dawn. Captivity is scientifically proven to cause stress on the animals. Tillikum is in solitary confinement also, which may also lead to frustration (since he is a social animal).
Don't you think a proximate cause of Telly's attack was that he is a highly aggressive apex predator will no means to express the violence written upon the coil of his genes? Without reaching the merits of whether or not Orcas should be in captivity, isn't it true that Orca are inherently violent and unleash brutal attacks on pinnipeds that serve no ostensible purpose? Just saying.
@kmkfiction2 Im going to have to say that I dont think that because although TRANSIENT orcas are violent towards their prey, resident orcas and other fish eating orcas like Tilikum do not eat and prey upon pinnipeds. They solely eat fish. I also dont think this is the case because orcas are extremely intelligent so to say he can't control his violent behavior and randomly attacked Dawn because of it, i simply cant believe. Tilikum made a mistake, and then got carried away, because of his...
Surely you cannot credibly contend that, on the one hand, Telly is arguably the smartest non-primate on the planet, and yet, despite this, he was just "playing" with Dawn like some goofy puppy that doesn't know his own strength. Telly is a mature Bull Orca that has been in captivity for many, many years. So, no. You are just dreaming if you think it wasn't a deliberate act of violence. The eye-witnesses said "it was violent"...not "the Orca was playing with her."
@kmkfiction2 One, please stop calling him Telly. His name is Tilikum. 2) I NEVER said he was playing with her. Obviously it was much more violent than just playing. Have you ever seen a dog (not a puppy) gaurd something it doesn't want to give up? It is violent. Now make that dog into a 2 ton animal that doesn't want to let Dawn go and you have trouble. People who work at SW have said that Tilikum becomes possessive, so they dont give him toys. Also, he is predatory. The more she...
Is that so? When you made an analogy to a dog with a toy you weren't expressly implying Telly was playing? Why don't I call him murderer, is that a misrepresentation of the actual state of affairs or not?
You live in a fantasy world. Your analysis is decidedly exculpatory and subverts the actual evidence to reach some wholly speculative, fictitious conclusion: Telly isn't a killer.
I'm not at all sure you even know what an wild Orca is. Sorry.
@kmkfiction2 on by captivity. And if wild orcas have all these killer instincts why has there never been an attack on a human by a wild orca? Its only in captivity that people seem to have problems with orcas. So to blame everything on Tilikums wild instincts is wrong. Obviously the ones in the wild know the difference between people and food.
Taken to its illogical conclusion, you are saying that Orcas in captivity that rely on predatory instincts and capturing and killing prey wouldn't ever "relapse" into a more primal state that coincides with their ecological niche- even if said behavior was directed at the only other species in their vicinity, e.g., a human. Haven't you ever seen the footage of the SW Orcas killing a pelican?
@kmkfiction2 Ok, orcas in captivity dont rely on predatory instinct... and there is a big difference between a pelican and a human that Tilikum grew up with and spent every day with. Like I said before im sure laying down next to him was something she did everyday. Something (other than his "killer instincts") had to trigger the attack, becaue he had never attacked her before. All Im saying is that there were outside factors that contributed. His predatory instinct kicked in because of it.
@kmkfiction2 He did not intially mean to KILL Dawn. But after she was in the water, and started to struggle, ect., and the cooped up frustration was released on her. His predatory instincts (whatever they may be used for fish or not) kicked in and that was all she wrote. Add to that his "possessive tendencies" and SW and Dawn had an issue.
@kmkfiction2 struggled, the more his predatory instincts kicked in. Now even as a fish eating orca, they still have a major predatory drive, even if he never did eat mammals. You are correct about that. So what may have started as a mistake, escalated into something much worse. The whales Tilikum impregnates now are hybrids. Mixtures of both resident and transient orcas. It is possible because there arn't that many differences. Its like a wolf/dog hybrid (which I own). Who is 80% wolf.
As an aside, why does it seem "implausible" to you that a Bull Orca with known violent propensities towards humans would randomly attack its trainer? Given the past history, it was anything but random- particularly considering the species-specific adaptations and ecological niche of wild Orca, i.e., irrespective of the conceptual, dietary "distinctions" placed on them by humans.
@kmkfiction2 And there is distinctions in the wild between resident, transient, and offshore orcas. I dont have room here to explain it all, but you can look it up. And yes, if the fish someday disappeard they would have no problem is changing their diet. But Tilikum never had that problem so I dont think he was "hunting" her. Something made him snap. Maybe you are right that he deliberatly dragged her under. But something made that day different from all the rest, becaue Im sure she had..
and seriously... I know that everyone, including myself are trying to stick up for the orcas and bash captivity (which it should be bashed). However if everyone spent as much time getting just the facts down, as they are just insulting each other, then maybe this argument would already be over with. You can't argue facts. Insulting the other person doesn't prove anything, it just makes a situation that needs to be fixed worse.
@Sakima636 I can not stand this shit any more I can not believe God graced us with such beauty everywhere. Yet shoving itself all against this beauty is WRETCHED FILTH and GREED and whole lot of bullshit talkers in the high places These places they have no business being. I can see. My eyes are wide open. and I am down to die for what LOVE gave the beauty and majesty and I will not leave this Earth until I change it for the better and my children will continue on lives layed down for the KING
Continuing my comment.... However, I do feel worse for the orcas like Tilikum and Lolita who were taken from the wild and know what they are missing and what they had before being shoved into a concrete pool. Tilikum has killed 3 people already because he is anxious, and alone.... in solitary confinement now. He no longer performs... Lolita is in a tank that is illegal.. Her family is still alive in NW WA state... she belongs to L Pod. Tilikum and Lolita need to be retired..
@Sakima636 the only thing im gonna argue with is *why* tilly killed those people. unless your the whale you cant say. he could have been playing. or whatever but to say it's because he's missing his pod is a rather *huge* stretch. he could just being a boy. you know all the testosterone and stuff. he is the biggest whale in captivity. that's what annoys me the most about it, is people say that tilly killed those people for reasons, when really it's *unknown* why
@hawkstorm55 Keeping these animals in captivity is pure cruelty imo... I'd snap too from sheer discomfort if I was one.. The one time I went to Seaworld I just could tell how unhappy the creatures were (Bent dorsal fins, just something in their eyes and movement) and the stupid bullshit propaganda they spread about how humans and them are in unity or some shit... Anyways, point being, dangerous animals don't belong in captivity, especially the ones that are smarter than apes ;)
@TheMrVogue you completely missed my point. im not anti captivity, im not pro captivity. im just saying you cant claim to know why an animal does what it does. you arent that animal. so you really dont know the cause. and stop saying you do cause you really dont
@hawkstorm55 I never said that it was the captivity that pissed Tilly off, I only nodded towards that idea. You can never know what dangerous animals are thinking, and that's why they should be kept out of captivity!
@hawkstorm55 Do not change the subject we're debating. We're debating whales here, completely different from "cows and horses and dogs". However, I will address your question: No, because they are not dangerous animals and have been domesticated for thousands of years specifically to be used by humans. Exploiting wild animals with great cognitive abilities in captivity --unlike dogs, horses, and cows, which might I add, are not known for inventing, or teaching each other-- is pure cruelty.
@TheMrVogue you've never been kicked by a horse or bitten by a dog i'll assume and far as horses being domesticated you've never heard of a mustang either. wow im arguing with someone who's never been educated. i need to find a calendar and write this down!
@hawkstorm55 Now now, no need for slander, that's plain out improper etiquette. Although horses and dogs do bite and kick on occasion, they are fairly predictable and often show warning signs that they desire to be left alone, such as growling, or huffing. Unlike whales. Mustangs aren't technically wild, they are feral horses... The "mustangs" you speak of didn't come about till the Pueblo revolt of 1680 when some of the only horses in America at the time were set free from their stables.
ok, captivity is awful... and they are bored and anxious... you don't have to spend a ton of hours at a place that houses captive orcas to figure that out. When the whales arn't performing they are sitting listlessly in a concrete pool waiting for something exciting to happen. They don't swim nearly as much as they should, and there is not enough stimulation to simulate what an orca experiences in the wild, its simply not natural.
This would be way more cool than Seaword! No, they are not looking for food. They are checking out the guys were doing. I'm jealous!!! Fabulous footage!!!
@steveoneil78 It's very cruel to keep such big and intelligent animals in captivity, and to pay to see them in places where they keep them captured is suporting that kind of behaviour. NOT COOL.
@fromhellithopped Come on, sweetie...you don't think the trainers at SeaWorld spoil these animals and keep them way safer than they would ever be in the wild? Besides, if you were owner of SeaWorld and knew the net profit they take in, I'm sure you would think differently. But, of course, not knowing the bottom line figure, you'll just reply to the contrary now. Go ahead and type it and if I'm bored enough, I'll reply.
@steveoneil78 The get your backside in a swimming pool and perform for me bitch. Do it right and I'll feed you. I'll lock you up, you'll be safer than on the street.
@1giblesp All right now calm down honeybun. No need for name calling. 1st of all, you're right..locking me up in my pool would definitely be safer than playing in the street. I'm actually a really good swimmer. So good, in fact, that people have paid admission to see me race. I even do the backstroke, so I guess I AM already on my "backside". Hey, I already AM a performer!
2nd, no need to feed me, but thanks for the offer. Unlike the whales at sea world, I'm human and capable of earning my pay.
@fromhellithopped Here's an easy solution for you: take an English course, study hard, pass the final, then come back with an idea of what to say. Calling me ignorant is merely name calling and does not equate to much of a witty reply. I look forward to hearing from you when the semester is over.
@steveoneil78 You talk about people needing more education.... Do you know what irony is? You think that these animals being 'safer' or 'spoiled' by their trainers automatically means they are happier? Lmao, sounds like you're the one in need of education, special education. These animals grow BORED, anxious, and depressed in captivity, you fool.
@tbwj21 Again with the name calling??!! Come on! Don't voluntarily diminish yourself like that. Seeing that you're so educated on the subject, how do you know they're BORED, anxious and depressed? Did the animals tell you this? Have you spent significant time studying their activities inside and out of captivity? Doubtful. But hey, thanks for trying. Please, submit your non-witty reply here ___.
@steveoneil78 How do you know that they would be happier in captivity than they would be in the wild? Did the animals tell you this? Have you spent significant time studying their activities inside and out of captivity? Doubtful. Even if you said you did study them, why should anyone believe you, here on youtube? And the name-calling looks deserved, you insult others along with ur own opinion in ur arguments.Your arguments don't refute what the others' say, but merely insult what is put forward.
@maro731 I see you're an expert at cutting and pasting comments. Kudos to you! I'm absolutely amazed at how many of you people want to have online arguments with me about whales. Honestly, if SeaWorld whales could type and had access to youtube, they would probably reply saying, "Steveoneil78, you're fucking right! It's awesome here in captivity. I eat tons of seafood every day and don't even have to hunt for it! This is a damn five star resort! All these other assclowns need to get lives".
@steveoneil78 That really negates everything I said. Not. I think u missed my point. I'm not debating with u about the whales,I was saying that ur arguments don't refute with plausibility what the others say about the whales in captivity, but simply make fun of them, so if you had such a problem with name-calling, u should change the way u argue first. And since u argued so much abt the whales, it shouldn't be amazing that others do it too. Anyway, good for u about ur opinion on captive whales.
Man, you're wasting your time with @steveoneil78. Amazingly, some people just don't get it - that's why there are magnificent and beautiful whales living wretched lives in captivity. Shameful and heartbreaking...
@2079423644 I agree. He is wasting his time...and so are you. I never said they were meant to be plucked from a vast ocean. Look back in the comments. Someone asked where they can see the whales up close and I I merely said you can see them up close at Sea World. Then a bunch of nonsense ensued. Thanks for wasting some more of Maro731's time and mine.
Don't even think about it -- these magnificent creatures were NEVER meant to be plucked from a vast ocean - their natural habitat - and put into a tub-sized puddle to entertain humans. It is FUCKING CRUEL AND SICK. Period.
I wish you filmed more, when the video cuts at the end it looks like the first orca is going to spy hop again and all the others would do the same in order.

Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
What's a seapen again?
lol
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 and if he wanted to "hunt" Dawn, or whatever your trying to imply, he would have had plenty of other chances to grab her arm, or leg, or hair before. Which he never did. A seapen is a floating, very large, net enclosure that is secured to the shore. Keiko was rehibilitated in one. They use them for sick animals sometimes also. But they are about the size of a football field.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
One more time. A seapen. What is it?
Kidding. Anyway, I have work to do. Nice chat though. We both love Orca, just in our own way.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 yes, nice chat. And really.... no one actually knows what happens except for him. So, us arguing over what happened is pointless. haha
Sakima636 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 Orcas in captivity still have their instincts but they dont use them everyday, so they dont "rely" on them. I did see the video of the orcas attacking the Pelican. But like I said before... there is a HUGE difference between a bird and a human he worked with daily.
Sakima636 1 year ago
Bull Orcas will viciously beat pinnipeds with less regard than a housecat affords a bird with a broken wing. Or have you not observed the savage attacks off Patagonia.
"But those are different Orcas!"
I suppose the same is true for different gene pools of humans?
Not.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 Ok obviously you dont know wild orcas. Tilikum is capable of those things yes. But that is not the reason he was shaking Dawn. He had no intent of eating her. He was shaking her because he had alot of cooped up frustration from something that was going wrong that day. Even if he wasn't in the same pool, animals can feel tension and know if something is wrong. Of course hes capable of thrashing things around but he never had to do that in the wild, so it was something brought
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
I'm sure the eye witnesses would agree that Telly was quite adept .
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 Did I say that he was trying to eat Dawn? I dont think I did. I said the opposite. Resident orcas do not violently thrash marine mammals. Resident orcas live side by side and even swim with marine mammals all the time peacefully. The only marine mammal they ever have an issue with is porpoises, and that is a rare occasion. If you ask anyone who lives near/studies the residents and transients they will tell you the animals know the difference between the 2.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
"Resident orcas live side by side and even swim with marine mammals all the time peacefully."
Are we talking about Darwin's world or Disney's world? I'm serious. You write as if resident Orca are not menacing predators toward any animals. That is just fiction. The are the wolves of the sea, not bunnies.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
done that before.
Sakima636 1 year ago
So, to sum it up, I think Tilikum made a mistake when he was already slightly frustrated (because earlier there were some problems going on with the other orcas) This probably caused him to act out even more once he had Dawn. Add to that the anxiety and frustration of captivity I mentioned earlier, and the result is not good. Of course, no one knows what really happened unless you are Tilikum.
Sakima636 1 year ago
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636

Sakima636 1 year ago
Why r we all of a sudden arguing mustangs and dogs when this is about whales? The assumption I made about Tillikum attacking because he is frustrated is an educated guess that is a probable reason for doing what he did. Anxiety and frustration (even more so because he is a bull orca) could have led him to attack dawn. Captivity is scientifically proven to cause stress on the animals. Tillikum is in solitary confinement also, which may also lead to frustration (since he is a social animal).
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
Just saying.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 Im going to have to say that I dont think that because although TRANSIENT orcas are violent towards their prey, resident orcas and other fish eating orcas like Tilikum do not eat and prey upon pinnipeds. They solely eat fish. I also dont think this is the case because orcas are extremely intelligent so to say he can't control his violent behavior and randomly attacked Dawn because of it, i simply cant believe. Tilikum made a mistake, and then got carried away, because of his...
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
The eye-witnesses said "it was violent"...not "the Orca was playing with her."
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 One, please stop calling him Telly. His name is Tilikum. 2) I NEVER said he was playing with her. Obviously it was much more violent than just playing. Have you ever seen a dog (not a puppy) gaurd something it doesn't want to give up? It is violent. Now make that dog into a 2 ton animal that doesn't want to let Dawn go and you have trouble. People who work at SW have said that Tilikum becomes possessive, so they dont give him toys. Also, he is predatory. The more she...
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
Sorry.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 on by captivity. And if wild orcas have all these killer instincts why has there never been an attack on a human by a wild orca? Its only in captivity that people seem to have problems with orcas. So to blame everything on Tilikums wild instincts is wrong. Obviously the ones in the wild know the difference between people and food.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
Haven't you ever seen the footage of the SW Orcas killing a pelican?
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 Ok, orcas in captivity dont rely on predatory instinct... and there is a big difference between a pelican and a human that Tilikum grew up with and spent every day with. Like I said before im sure laying down next to him was something she did everyday. Something (other than his "killer instincts") had to trigger the attack, becaue he had never attacked her before. All Im saying is that there were outside factors that contributed. His predatory instinct kicked in because of it.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
Your analysis is impossible to follow. What are you saying? Did he intentionally kill Dawn or not?
I await your answer.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 He did not intially mean to KILL Dawn. But after she was in the water, and started to struggle, ect., and the cooped up frustration was released on her. His predatory instincts (whatever they may be used for fish or not) kicked in and that was all she wrote. Add to that his "possessive tendencies" and SW and Dawn had an issue.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
Didn't intend to kill her? I see.
Take care.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 struggled, the more his predatory instincts kicked in. Now even as a fish eating orca, they still have a major predatory drive, even if he never did eat mammals. You are correct about that. So what may have started as a mistake, escalated into something much worse. The whales Tilikum impregnates now are hybrids. Mixtures of both resident and transient orcas. It is possible because there arn't that many differences. Its like a wolf/dog hybrid (which I own). Who is 80% wolf.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636
As an aside, why does it seem "implausible" to you that a Bull Orca with known violent propensities towards humans would randomly attack its trainer? Given the past history, it was anything but random- particularly considering the species-specific adaptations and ecological niche of wild Orca, i.e., irrespective of the conceptual, dietary "distinctions" placed on them by humans.
kmkfiction2 1 year ago
@kmkfiction2 And there is distinctions in the wild between resident, transient, and offshore orcas. I dont have room here to explain it all, but you can look it up. And yes, if the fish someday disappeard they would have no problem is changing their diet. But Tilikum never had that problem so I dont think he was "hunting" her. Something made him snap. Maybe you are right that he deliberatly dragged her under. But something made that day different from all the rest, becaue Im sure she had..

However if everyone spent as much time getting just the facts down, as they are just insulting each other, then maybe this argument would already be over with. You can't argue facts.
Sakima636 1 year ago
@Sakima636 the only thing im gonna argue with is *why* tilly killed those people. unless your the whale you cant say. he could have been playing. or whatever but to say it's because he's missing his pod is a rather *huge* stretch. he could just being a boy. you know all the testosterone and stuff. he is the biggest whale in captivity. that's what annoys me the most about it, is people say that tilly killed those people for reasons, when really it's *unknown* why
hawkstorm55 1 year ago
@hawkstorm55 Keeping these animals in captivity is pure cruelty imo... I'd snap too from sheer discomfort if I was one.. The one time I went to Seaworld I just could tell how unhappy the creatures were (Bent dorsal fins, just something in their eyes and movement) and the stupid bullshit propaganda they spread about how humans and them are in unity or some shit... Anyways, point being, dangerous animals don't belong in captivity, especially the ones that are smarter than apes ;)
TheMrVogue 1 year ago
@TheMrVogue you completely missed my point. im not anti captivity, im not pro captivity. im just saying you cant claim to know why an animal does what it does. you arent that animal. so you really dont know the cause. and stop saying you do cause you really dont
hawkstorm55 1 year ago
@hawkstorm55 I never said that it was the captivity that pissed Tilly off, I only nodded towards that idea. You can never know what dangerous animals are thinking, and that's why they should be kept out of captivity!
TheMrVogue 1 year ago
@TheMrVogue does that apply to cows and horses and dogs as well?
hawkstorm55 1 year ago
@hawkstorm55 Do not change the subject we're debating. We're debating whales here, completely different from "cows and horses and dogs". However, I will address your question: No, because they are not dangerous animals and have been domesticated for thousands of years specifically to be used by humans. Exploiting wild animals with great cognitive abilities in captivity --unlike dogs, horses, and cows, which might I add, are not known for inventing, or teaching each other-- is pure cruelty.
TheMrVogue 1 year ago
@TheMrVogue you've never been kicked by a horse or bitten by a dog i'll assume and far as horses being domesticated you've never heard of a mustang either. wow im arguing with someone who's never been educated. i need to find a calendar and write this down!
hawkstorm55 1 year ago
@hawkstorm55 Now now, no need for slander, that's plain out improper etiquette. Although horses and dogs do bite and kick on occasion, they are fairly predictable and often show warning signs that they desire to be left alone, such as growling, or huffing. Unlike whales. Mustangs aren't technically wild, they are feral horses... The "mustangs" you speak of didn't come about till the Pueblo revolt of 1680 when some of the only horses in America at the time were set free from their stables.
TheMrVogue 1 year ago
ok, captivity is awful... and they are bored and anxious... you don't have to spend a ton of hours at a place that houses captive orcas to figure that out. When the whales arn't performing they are sitting listlessly in a concrete pool waiting for something exciting to happen. They don't swim nearly as much as they should, and there is not enough stimulation to simulate what an orca experiences in the wild, its simply not natural.
