@anteracmacash Know what I use? And I have the best shine on mine. try this. Get a little jar with ketchup, put the pennies in it and you can let them sit or take a very soft tooth brush and brush the coin with the ketchup and it'll turn a reddish pinkish color once you have done it, take some baking powder and water make a little paste, and rub the penny with it between your fingers and look at the out come. REALLY works awesome!
Great video you made there on cleaning coins Dave! I use the same methods except I also use vegetable oil and olive oil for soaking too. It's been my experience that the baking soda before the peroxide doesn't seem to make a different effect in which the peroxide works but when you use olive or vegetable oil prior you'll need to clean the coin in mineral spirits so then the peroxide will work.

be careful with that hydrogen peroxide, my friend has food grade (35%) and bleached streaks of my hair with it, and it made the tips of her fingers completely white and rough
Usually cleaning coins that have value from it's rarity will decrease their value because it discolors them. It this the safe way of cleaning them without ruining their value?
Great video. Question for ya. How do you clean a coin if it has patina that looks like it is flaking off? I recently found a 1735 King George and I think i removed part of the date while cleaning with a toothbrush to remove ground dirt. Thanks in advance and keep up these good videos
honestly, the easiest to clean a copper coin and make it look brand new, is ketch up, just let the coin sit in the ketch up for about a minute and it cleans it basically to where it looks new
Only idiots that do not take the time to actually make a video ,but are ready to give a negative remark, like this guy..Would not know the difference between one cent, and a cent worth $700....You ever found a cent worth that much DennisJTracy ?.......I have, and sold it...A 1922 plain cent...& I know the difference in what to do with it,and a bag full of useless 1950's wheats worth 2 cents each...Ya Tumble them
@219erman I disagree 1950 ms70 In mint state 70 is worth thousands of dollars and Usually cleaning ruins detail on coin. I'm just giving objective view and its nice to see more numismatics on the internet Thanks.
ANY copper coin that is dug from the earth is invironmentaly damaged, and not likely to grade as good as 40 under the Best of circumstances...They are all discolored from the earth. Even experts from two different coin shops told me..They can always tell a dug coin from one that was saved from change long ago...(Expecially if it wasnt cleaned)......How many times do I have to say( Common Coins) ? A dug coin is always worth less...anyway
@219erman never use this method on coins such as canada dollars ones that have that yellow look often mistakened by gold the peroxside will mess the coin up bad
Kris Baking soda is used from every thing from brushing your teeth,to neutralizing smells in your refrigerator...To Baking (I guess)..A brand name would be Arm & Hammer Baking soda
Very entertaining and interesting videos. Thanks for making these. I use Barkeepers friend as well for cleaning pans (the wife also likes the stuff) and I was wondering how they would work on coins. You answered that question in your last video, so thanks! By the way, I noticed you are promising some of your coins to your grandkids. I applaud that and wish I had a grandfather who gave me coins! Just so ya know, it's an awesome gift!
The ones I cleaned can be purchased at any coin shop for 3 cents to 50 cents after cleaning. Before cleaning they wouldnt give more than 3 cents anyway.Just dont clean a rare coin.I mean one worth $25 or more red book..The rest are common dates.I got about 30 some semi key date wheats & most of my indians that I did not clean. If you can't read a date on a coin..is it a 1957d wheat or 1909s vdb ?You have to do a LITTLE cleaning just 2 see the date...Baking Soda Cleans
Nice job, Dave! I've got an Indian Head penny that I over-cleaned. The nice old patina is completely gone. It's shiny like a new penny...just doesn't look right at all. So I am trying a product that darkens copper. It's like an artificial ager. Hopefully it'll make that penny look like it should.
Thanks icollectstuffdude....It took allot of time to make the videos....Almost as much time as cleaning all the coins themselves ........Thanks for the complement buddy....Much Appreciated....
...nice Italian 10c coin at 6:53.
