A convience store video in the NE once caught a video of a man coming in and addressing a Police Officer "sir, your cruiser is double parked outside and the traffic is backing up the street---is there an emergency in progress here?' If a cop parks illegally but not harmfully, that helps the rest of us. This is simply a case of the cop recognizing that a space should be used to free up a spot for someone else. And if the spot is in front of a hydrant, the cop will know a fire enging is coming and can move. The real fault lies with Arlington County for not freeing up more spaces.

As an Arlington resident I'm well aware cops violate too, but they did very well here. The cameraman should be embarrassed.

Thanks for the comment. As was noted in the video, the cop lives on the street and I have seen his squad car parked there many times. This was just the first time I noticed it parked in a no-parking zone. So, I was pretty sure he was just at home, not assisting a call/citizen.

It's important to not let the things slide, trivial as they may seem. Because, if we don't, it'll make it less likely that anyone will speak up against bigger problems.
