  • They used to play this song at the roller rink when I was in the 8th grade. I didn't get to the record store in time before they were all sold out. Then I spent the next 20 years looking for the record! No one could find it. I'm glad I finally can listen to it whenever I like now - brings back many memories. Thanks!

  • I have song this song for 50 years.

    Thank you;

    Do Wop Richard

  • I like this version very much!!!!!

  • I Bought this record too & noticed a little something was different

with this rendetion. I think it's great!!

  • Wow a great sloooow dance

  • Boy those sure were great times!! It to bad that we have to get old,I don't people today appreciate this music!! Maybe they never slow danced to songs like "THIS TIME"--TOO BAD --THEIR LOSS!!!!

  • WHAT-A-MEMORY...got the record at a 2nd hand store but that's not the reason it's one of those hits from the doowop era that has a impact on me...like The Image of a Girl or Skip and Flip and It was I....there are some songs that really mean something more than just a great tune that I like to hear over and over &again and this is one of them! thx4 postin'

  • What beautiful sound when this song begins . love his voice , bring back a memmory that seems like a hundred yrs ago thanks for posting

  • overdubbed at 1:42?

  • Wow, I thought I knew just about every 50s/early 60s hit song there was until last night! I never heard this before until last night on the radio and instantly fell in love with this song!!!

  • YES! Guitar solo, tho brief, mars the great piano break. I still prefer the hit.

  • omg luv this just watched jack scott singing what in the worlds come over u,,, awesome memories with both songs

  • GREAT CHARLES HAMILTON SAMPLE!(DO BREAK UPS)

  • Why would mess with a great, great song with some cheesy guitar pickin' that really don't match the song? Why? Why? Why?

  • @TROYSHONDELLOFFICIAL I THINK 1:42 IS AWESOME ADDITION!!!!THNX FOR GREAT POST!!!!

  • In the 60s, whenever a couple broke up, this song came to mind. A one-hit wonder that's a classic.

  • wow I was 15, such memories thanks

  • I Think that 1:42 Adds A Little Interest! Definetly Not The Original!

  • What the heel is that crap at 1:42 of this song? Certainly not the original sound.

  • My Dad used to sing this song...and did a great job. I miss my Dad, but this brings back a lot of good memories! :)

  • I always especially loved this song, and have the 45 rpm record I bought back then. The whole feel and beauty of the song is ruined, here, unfortunately, by that dubbed in, pedestrian and kind of finky guitar in the instrumental break. Please post the real version with just the truly feelingful piano. (The original guitar at the beginning and end are, as always, fine.)

  • This is not the 1961 version (Goldcrest 161-A) which had a ragged, but forceful, piano solo at the spot where this one has dubbed a guitar break over it. This is said to be the official Troy Shondell site - if so, it looks as if Mr Shondell is trying to change history - why be so petty?

  • @christoomer Thanks for taking something I did to make my grandpa smile and making it into a big SCAM. I love pretending to be old men.

  • @TroyShondellOfficial Troy,i like the overlay,it makes me listen again & again.i still own two copies of your original on 45.Thanks

  • how can this be official music video when it is one you have put together yourself

  • @sukes58 Because I'm his grandson. :]

  • dear oh dear ,this reminds me of my mum, tough TBH

  • Great song. I lived it more'n once. First time, I changed the words a bit "cause I was glad she was GONE.

  • Sad but great...Thanks Troy. Fan from 1962

    P

  • Such a sad song!

  • wow pop commercialism started early huh?

  • Found this quite by accident. Reminded me of the nights I listened to it over and over after a seventh grade breakup, crying my young eyes out.

  • @texsis48

    Awww, you poor thing!

  • this song brings back memories of my time in the army in 1961. Came home to Philly to see my girl on a 3 day pass from Ft Knox, Ky. Stopped at a small diner in Zanesville, Ohio on a Fri nite and some guy kept playing this on the jukebox. I think of that nite whenever I hear this song. Thanks for the post and memory

  • oops- tried to cover it up w/ guitar- bad

  • great piano "off key" break

  • Hi Gary, Give me a call when you have a chance to. You should have my number,

702-565-5506, it's the same, has not changed. Shelby Riggs

  • classic hit...good to hear again...

  • wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. what else can you say.

  • brill rnr ballad

  • the flip side in canada at least is called girl after girl , though they never played it on the radio , i used to flip the 45 over and play it just as often as this time , it s a neat song too , plus i never had that many records at that time. the ORIGINAL version of this time was done by thomas wayne in 1959.

  • It's amazing that Gene Vincent's band backed him up.....in a way, he sounded like Gene. See the 1999 "live" version---I immediately thought of Gene Vincent--maybe what Gene would have looked and sounded like, had he not died so young.

  • @lcar4000 I didn't know that...another reason why it's a great tune.

  • How can any Misuc lover NOT like this Classic?,this was a favourite when I left High School in 1961,keep on Rockin' Troy,Murray in Scotland.....

  • I LIVE IN MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, AND WHEN I WAS ONLY13 YEARS OF AGE, THIS RECORD WAS THE 'HORRIBLE HIT OF THE WEEK' AND BECAME MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE....STAN THE MAN WAS THE DISC JOCKEY, AND ALTHOUGH HE WAS THE BEST, HE GOT IT WRONG THIS TIME.

  • WTF- guitar overdub in the solo?

  • My Mom actually named me after Troy Shondell. She said she hadn't thought of a name yet and was looking through some of her old records and came across "This Time" which she loved. After she told me that, I just had to have an album by my namesake. Made a call to a friend of mine, who's an avid collector, and I now have an original album in my possession. I've probably had it now 20 years. Wouldn't think of parting with it.

  • Gene Vincent's Bluecaps were the backing group on this one.

  • @ 1:32 , is that a woman or a man? the one with the long hair..me and my father are having a debate.

    Please let me know

    Thanks [;

  • Man.

  • @212729h Thank you, & I won the debate :)

  • you're welcome.

  • That's Bon Jovi.

  • Noooooooooooooo! Really? ,

  • Yeah..

  • Oh , lol alright Bon Jovi it is then. : -)

  • How do you know about Troy Shondell?

  • My dad : )

  • Ah ok. I was just curious; he's my grandpa.

  • Are you for real ?

  • Mmhm :)

  • Really? , sorry I can't really belive people, because so many are full of crap.

  • It would be pretty lame to lie about something like that haha.

  • Aha, thats true; But you know what I mean. :)

  • One of my favorite songs. I was 20 yrs old

  • Big hit in South Louisiana. Thanks for the Post

  • great guitar solo but I remember the tune ...I was kissing Bev the first time I heard the hit and the break featured a piano solo.

Thanks JSAwesome...it works...I must confess that I liked the whorehouse piano better...don't feel bad...yer great

  • I liked the touch the guitar added

  • JSA- you are probably a great guitarist-

but you shouldn't mess with success-

It does not add to the original recording.

  • @housedart you're wrong as a turd in a toosie roll factory!

  • Great dance song the teens here loved it By lupe loop 62

  • Great singer, great band, one of the greats hits in Chile. Thanks for posting.

  • That had to be dubbed since I remember this song and it was Not original.

But if u did it, that is a tribute to ur G-Pa

  • One of the all time best Rock n' Roll songs, done by a great singer.

Hey J.S. Great guitar solo, I'll bet your Grandad loves it.

  • The Guitar Solos is okay, but th e orginal version is cleaner and more correct, Those were the days and I am glad I was there when they were rolling on. Cheers!

  • Interesting, I was given a copy of this many years ago but I do not remember that guitar solo.

  • That's because I rerecorded it with a guitar solo.
