@kynigh There were when I recorded my other video w/ the wine glass, 8 of them in a tower to the right. They all have been replaced by a RAID array now, most did start to flake out after a while :)
i have the same headphones, too bad they don't like a bit of power without distorting.
It's quite easy to let things bounce around if the sub is directed towards the object and less then a meter away.(not hatin) Those woofers really kick ass.
Yes, that actually is an afterburner. I would hope that I would know, I paid for it. You can see the fins on the "heatsink". You might want to get your facts straight.
We use a pair of EL-36's layed sideways (flare to flare)to obtain a single large horn throat spec.
With this configuration on each side of a given stage (4 EL-36 total) we are able to obtain tremendous tight long throw sub frequencies when micing the drum kit.
Each pair of EL-36's are driven by a dedicated(bridged)Crest FA-2401.
These folded horns sounded their overall best using Crest amps and probably their sloppiest using Crown while the 3 different types of QSC amps we used sounded good
oh, 2) I've got processing gear in a rack to cross it properly and time align it, but didn't want to lug all of that crap over to where I store the sub - so I just grabbed some adapter cables and an RCA inline 100hz lowpass. All I needed was some noise to shake stuff for a vid. These RMX's are heavy, Good old toroidal transformers.
You can hear it from outside. above the basement is a room with hardwood floors. 1 1/2" sheetrock on the ceiling of the basement, old huge timber crossbeams holding the two together. I don't know if my crap camera would pick it up. again, there are much better subs than the ab-36, not many videos of a PA bass bin shaking things around in a house, so I made a couple.
it's crossed at 100hz using an in-line RCA filter, than using an RCA to 1/4" adapter to get it to the amp. I just grabbed some cables to ghetto rig up the RMX and it got the job done.
That's a sweet sub! I'm just curious... are you like a musician? Or do you just really love bass? It's just not too often you see a sub that massive in a house lol...
I *really* love bass, I also have some other PA gear that I use to use to DJ at some frat parties. The nightlife at that college is prohibitive, the school has really cracked down on the parties, so I haven't done one since 2007. :(
Is it realy that sick bass? I got 2 yamaha 18" subs.. but I want the best bass I can get.. Can u make a video of just the AB36? Want to se the subwoofer when its playin, not so interesting to se those keys and whine glass jumpin..
Your Yamaha subs undoubtedly will sound much cleaner and punchier. The *best* bass would be an unlimited number of sealed drivers w/ unlimited power. Ported lets you get louder, but increases group delay (IE: worse transient response), same concept with bandpass, but even more group delay. A horn is different, they have their own unique characteristics, and most times color the sound somewhat. The CV bin has an awful wavefront up close, however, it's very loud and vicious, but not accurate.
I just hope there are no HDDs around :D

Not bad. I was thinking about buying a pair or 2 for smaller gigs.
I'll try and get a better video up of my regular setup. 4x 18Sound 21LW1400s with 2.5" horns. 21" drivers. :)

lol yes, actually they are fullrange, add about 0.0001db to the final output, though somewhat out of phase because there's not delay on them

just for fun put it in a car and post vid lol

I had it in a toyota highlander once, it shook some stuff a bit but didn't go low at all. ie: it sucked compared to a car sub in a sealed box.
