Quousque tandem abutere Catiline patientia Nostra?
(Even when you abuse our patience, Catiline?)
The above sentence is the first of the first speech of the Roman Cicero attacking the pretensions of Catiline coup against the established order in the then Roman Republic. The phrase is still used today when we want to express disapproval of an act or attitude that persists, despite being in a logical absurdity or callous stubbornness in the face of a reality that can not be ignored.
Lucius Sergius Catilina (108 BC – 62 BC), known in English as Catiline, was a Roman politician of the 1st century BC who is best known for the Catiline (or Catilinarian) conspiracy, an attempt to overthrow the Roman Republic, and in particular the power of the aristocratic Senate. WP
anyone else hear "Der Holle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" themes at 0:06 that Magic Flute thing with the insane high notes in that aria.or is it just me.
@daponte71 Beethoven was one of Salieri's students so it's not surprising.
