@kad85 Phrygians were Greek! They immigrated from Northern Greece to Anatolia. It's like saying Anatolia belonged to the Ionians. The name itself is the Greek word they gave to the region they settled. As for the Hittites, the Hittite empire stayed relatively south and east of Greek Asia Minor. They were more central Turkey than anything. The Greeks of the Ottoman Empire did not feel represented by the Ottomans and wanted independence, but of course the Turks had to draw first blood.

in 1700 it was 25%
in 1800 30%
between 1800 and 1900 greeks grew to 50%. because of the greek immigration from the agean islands. nobody was living there for 3000 years. between 1200 and 1400 there was no city of smyrna it was a village and castle.

Turkish authorities took christian children away in order to make the janissaries. The privilegies you mean were only for the Phanariots who worked for the ottoman government. The rest remained second class citizens, especially at the court. Especially in the end of the Ottoman Empire, after they failed their senceless invasion to central europe, it became more and more corrupt. Local leaders acted without any controll from the High Porte.

I didnt say that you ve conquered us in the 19 ct, learn to read .You used our church to controll us, and, even if you repeat it, only a few Greeks, who worked for the High Porte had privileges. You converted our biggest churches into mosques and destroyed the icons in them, you took christian children from their families to make the jannisaries. Asia Minor was our homeland long before the Turks set a foot on it. During the Ottoman rule, christians had to pay higher taxes, so that lots of them were forced to convert to Islam indirectly. Only 5 % of the turkish population today descends from the invading Seldjuks of 1071.

Turkey itself owns his victory in the war of 1922 agreements with the Allies, who withdrew not because of military defeat but because they hadnt any interests in the region any more and made agreements with Kemal, f.e. in the Ankara Treaties with France, which didnt only withdrew, but also left you their weapons. Moreover, the turkish success depended heavily on russian help, from whom Kemal took his weapons.

Oh, and epecially in the 1914, Christians may not have been forced to serve in the ottoman Army, but they were forced to do forced-labour, which the Jung Turks used to kill as much christian men as possible, so that they could start the genocides they commited in the aftermath with lesser resistance. Izmir(smyrna) was a Turkish terrototy occupied by a vast number of Greeks and Armenians.When Turkish army went to recapture it, Greeks set the city on fire and fled before the Turks arrived.Think people, why would Turks destroy a city that they were reclaiming? According to eyewitnesses, it took 3 days for the armies to put out the fires and years to rebuild! If you're gonna lie at least make it sound credible!
