  • Divine! Keeps getting better and better each time...I find more and more coz she has put in so much!

  • I first heard this song on ebc radio in NJ, I liked it so much i must have heard it for million times. When i went to India i was trying to find the movies but coul't find it. I like to listen Vividh Bharti Radio, and they have program known as Aaj Ke Funkar and on that perticular program Hemaji was the funkar. At the end she was asked which dance she likes the most thru her career, and which one she liked the most the answer was from 'Mrig Trishna" the very same song. Thanks for this clip

  • Did not know this song was filmed on hema. very nice surprise

  • A reminder what a beautiful dance form Bharat natyam is

  • mrig-trishna = water of a mirage

    A mirage = optical illusion

  • masterpiece directed by rajendra nath shukla of lucknow , a graduate of FTII, Pune`s first batch, recently awarded by FTII for his contribution to cinema, has also directed documentaries pushed into oblivion by the govt. apathy towards creativity

  • Eat your heart out Katrina Kaif! Ughh! No matter how much skin they show the Priyanka Chopras and Kareena Kapoors don't have anything over beautiful/talented/wonderful actoresses of yesteryears!

  • excellent rendation of bharatnaatyam dance by Hema Malini

  • wow she looks like a real woman. it's hard being american and all you see is people as thin as sticks and that's supposed to be beautiful

  • that is right my friend i hate skinny women who look like a chop stick

  • i m very intrigued abt this movie.can someone plz upload it for me or atleast write its synopsis.i shall be obliged.thanku

  • v b'ful ... a masterpiece !

  • woooooow so beautiful...

  • greattttttttttttttttttttttt & beautiful she is beautiful

  • beautiful

  • Trully a stunning performance by who else but the dreamgirl Hema

  • " She is attractive without trying, engaging without exaggerating, humble & friendly without an ounce of fabrication in her system"

Gisellejensen, you have put it all in perpective with this incisive remark. Thanks.

  • They say that karanas have the power to spiritually uplift the onlooker, and I must say that looking at Hema, and that too in this number, one certainly feels her spiritual understanding and connection to dance. Her mudras are SO perfect and take me back to the exquisite carvings of all our great temples.

  • OMG. It's in HQ NOW!!!! You have no idea how happy, beyond words, this makes me!!!

  • Can anyone have an idea about lyricist of this song please!!!

  • @Kaushikt25 lyricist is shambhusen

  • Great upload -- thanks for sharing this with the rest of us who don't have access to it.

  • She gives us all goosebumps with her grace & glory. She is attractive without trying, engaging without exaggerating, humble & friendly without an ounce of fabrication in her system. She stands high on the cinema "platform" for being nothing more than herself: an all-rounder, homely, sophisticated, refined, & dignified lady, who grew up with a good head on her shoulders. Her decorum is remarkable, not to mention one of a kind!! I love you, Hema Malini. You are the darling of cinema!!!

  • When she dances, it's as though adrenaline rushes through my body -- that's how much energy & vigor she exudes with every execution of the steps. I feel as though she takes us all to a higher level. Indian classical dancing -- especially Bharathanatyam -- integrates art with spirituality. The art no longer becomes a mere form of entertainment, rather a "tool" for spiritual self-enhancement, providing a more ample understanding of the mind, body, & soul. She is one with the music in this clip.

  • Hema Malini is nothing short of a Goddess! She is literally

the female divinity in human form when she is dancing.

  • is this true bharathanatyam??

  • No it most certainly is NOT bharatanatyam. It has elements from several dance styles.

    Nick

  • @kijiwoda It is based heavily on Bharatnatyam but also has sourced from Odissi and Kathak etc. All in all a divine expression of a divine concept by the truly Divine Hema..... :)

  • where can I find a translation of this song??

  • very good song sung by great Rafi

  • How many years I need to learn to dance in order to be able to dance like this???

  • What movie is this ?

  • Mrig Trishna as in title of clip.

    Nick

  • Wow! Never thought I would see this song. Thank you so much for sharing. This movie has a wonderful Lata solo "sun man ke meet more prem geet." Would it be possible for you to upload it? Thanks.

  • I have the full film somewhere in my collection of VHS videos. I'm gradually making my way through them all getting them all onto the computer.

    Nick

  • ignoring a gem from this movie by Mehdi Hassan? :))

  • this navkalpana and the hema dance is true art witout being pretentitious or aspiring to be artistic -sometimes indian culture comes up with a treasure like this and it becomes profoundly beautiful in every aspect -sincere -honest and masterful

  • LOOOOOOVE the confidence that Hema exudes through her eyes. That is such an important asset in dance because you can be as precise and as "complete" with your steps as possible, however, if you lack that "strength" in your face, your performance would be counted as close to zero.

  • This is such a rare clip that words alone would not be enough to express my joy at the moment:) Dear tripmonk0, I can not thank you enough for uploading this wonderful gem of a clip from my icon:) I truly, truly appreciate it!

  • Glad to be of service. This clip came from a VHS copy of the film I have from the 1980s when Indian videos became so widely available here in the UK.

    Nick

  • Hema considers dance to be her very first passion (something I, myself can relate to, too:)) and she enjoys it more than acting. A trained Bharathanatyam dancer who not only excelled in that certain form of dance, but also in a more broad category, such as Odissi, Kuchipudi, etc. She dances with grace, poise and elegance, all the while keeping her precision and coordination intact. An entertainer who not only loves dance, but respects it, wholeheartedly. Goddess of dance and cinema!

  • What is so, extremely awe-inspiring about Hema (besides all of her spectacular assets) is that she rose to the top ALL by herself and remained in the throne as THE most commercially successful actress in all of Hindi Cinema without shedding a bit of her character - the TRUE Hema that everybody knew. The same can't be said for some others for they had to take a different route, usually not of their favor, just to gain fame and success. An incomparable beauty with brains!

  • The unforgettable, lovely, extremely beautiful, multi-talented, unparalleled, ONE and ONLY Hema "Queen of Cinema" Malini! The woman with the most stunning face, coupled with the most astonishingly shaped eyes of all. An actress who reigned an entire era of the 70s with her charm, grace and uniqueness - just a few reasons why she was, is, and will ALWAYS remain my favorite actress in the whole, wide world. She was on a league of her very own. Others couldn't stand a chance in front of her.
