yankee babys incompetently trying to beat the Japanese. Wise Russians sigh and steamroll the entire Manchuria and cause Japan to surrender. Americans then throw some nukes because Why Not
my grandfather fought on the canal, Tarawa, the cape, peleliu, and Iwo....he has received a purple heart, a distinguished service cross, and a silver star, hes still alive and has never talked about the war
Our grandfathers were the best generation of Americans. They were hardworking, honest, and sincere. Their sacrifices made America the greatest country in the world.
Today America is dominated by a whole generation of Ann Coulters. They're all heartless, ruthless, and self-centered. It's because of these young hardnosed skankies that our country is falling apart.
Another American hero passes into the great beyond and takes with him our respect and appreciation for sacrificing his youth, his innocence, sometimes his life and did it for us all in the name of freedom from oppression, freedom from tyranny, so that future generations would know just what freedom means.
Great, great, great, great video. Everyone should study the military history of WWII. The Pacific theater is grossly understudied. These are marvelous color films. Where did you get them?
Thank you for sharing my Grandfather also served it WWII and was a POW for three of the five years. He made it threw the death march only to have 80% of his stomach removed when he returned home. He past away before I was born. You are lucky to have known your grandfather. RIP Jack Kirby Army Second Lieutenant. Coast Artillery Corps Served: Southwest Pacific Philippine Islands
@whokeithmoon THE WAY I SEE IT ASSHOLES LIKE YOU SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO LOOK AT AN AMERICAN FLAG AGAIN! YOU COME ON YOUTUBE TO START SHIT AND SPEW HATRED. FUCK YOU!
these boys did more for us than we could ever imagine...they kicked ass over on foreign ground for human rights and dignity. they came home and kicked ass and made our country what it is today. my grandpa worked in the pacific as a radio mechanic for mitchell bombers. i think the guys from vietnam like my dad have a hard time because they weren't allowed to really fight for the win...
Thank you for this video. My dad was a Marine who landed on Saipan and Tinian and had his troop carrier ship hit by kamikaze while preparing to land on Okinawa. He never talked about his experience;learn about Saipan and you will understand why: he survived the largest Japanese tank attack of the war, the largest Japanese banzai attack of the war, and then had to watch the indigenous people of the island hurl their babies and themselves off cliffs because they were afraid of the Americans.
Good video. Did you grandfather serve in the U.S. Army or the corp?
My father left alittle of his soul in the south pacific no doubt. His best friend died in his arms during the invasion of GUAM. You can register your grandfathers name at the WW2 memorial web site. Its free. Also you can obtain his records from VETRECS.GOV. Fee ofcourse, but very interesting. Have his service# it helps. state or enlistment also or birthday and year. Any friends he may have had you can obtain thru the F.O.I.A.
I am very fortunate to have my 86-year old father still alive. He doesn't talk much about WW2, Korean or Vietnam much.. he's a 3-war veteran...Ironically.. 25 years after he served in the Pacific, he had orders to go to Japan, where I was born. Thank you for making this video. WE as Ignorant Americans need to SEE and understand our veterans better and what they went through for US.
im sorry for commenting when i dont know about my own bloods involvement in wwII but my father served in okinowa in the 80s and talked to a japanese officer that served in ww2 and he told my dad that the japanese officers would tell the foot soldiers that the americans would eat their familys and rape their wives. just in case anyone wanted some insight on why the J's fought so hard and ruthlessesly without diisregard for their own lives
my family has been searching for decades the place our beloved met his end. any ideas. we didn't hear anything from the govermnet. except he was a navy first class POW killed
@MrS5099 his brother was killed in the jap raid on hong kong, and they generally caused nothing but pain in his early life... so i guess he took out all his rage and anger on the first jap he came across... he was caught and charged by canadian government, got 4 months in jail after the war, so stfu
My grandfather served aboard the USS Colorado as a Gunner. He died back in 1993, I was 14 at the time, to this day, no other man, not even my own father is as important to me as he was/is. Thank you for your tribute. My gratitude goes out to the rest of you currently serving and to anyone who has served before oyu.
Thank you for making this video... we have to remember and honor those who served our country. My dad was in the Navy in WWII, I am incredibly proud of my papa. We just lost him... but I am taking strength in the love we shared in our family, but also in the honor of having a world warii veteran in my family. god bless all our veterans
My grandfather was a Naval Offiicer on the USS North Carolina. He still tells me stories of his encounters in the pacific. God bless him and the men and women that fought in both Germany and the Pacific.
My Great grandpa was in the US Army in WWII and he witnessed the bombing and hell of Iwo Jima. He never talked about all of it but he died a few years back when i was 10 he also guarded the A bomb Little Boy.
nice job EXCEPT for those inserts. damn. really takes away from compelling action. should have left out still. they don't really add anything (just take away :(
My Uncle Bob was at Kwajelein he went in on the first wave. He was also at Guam, Saipan, and Peileu. He later was sent to instruct Combat Training for units being sent over from Europe and the USA, in Southern California. He had some scary stories. The scariest was the Suicide Charges(Bonzai Charges). May your Grand Father and my Uncle Rest In ever lasting Peace.
He was in the invasion of Kwajelein and Enewetak Atolls, and ws involved in the Pearl Harbor accident of May 21, 1944 where a number of ships exploded in the harbor. He was blown off the deck of his ship into the water and the only thing he would tell us was that he was the only one from his ship to have survived. He was a radioman in the 295th JASCO unit.
i dont get why no one talks about the pacific war and just the nazi war... no matter where the soldiers are stationed you should give them all the same amount of respect
wow..that was an excellent video! i take it that the last shot was your grand parents farm? my grand parents lived on a similar farm; the resemblance is uncanny! my grandad too was in the pacific..on iwo jima the day they raised the flag..im always looking to see if i can spot him in rare footage..thank you much!!!
Yea, that was their farm. He loved his porch swing. He would set out there for hours and watch the birds. I took that video on the day of his funeral. My grandpa was in some of the earlier island hopping battles, up to Saipan.
nice to see you show your respect for your family and vets alike. also nice to see somebody actualy make a video and not a damn windows movie maker slideshow. n1
i get shit mostly from libberals when i defend the right for the us & the uk to protect themselves its funny cause men like these guys did not need a moments thought & they were enlisted & kicking ass were gods chosen hammer

because so many games an Movies are made about the Euro Theater.
the Pacific theater is very brutal. it was also rare to see Prisoners taken in that theater unlike in Europe.
but Tom Hanks an Steven Spielberg are working on a a mini-series like band of brothers. called the Pacific.
