Chris was one half of Big Star (on classic first album #1 Record only). He then had a posthumous album in 1992 which includes this, I think, and the great 'You and Your Sister' and 'I am the Cosmos.' Well worth searching out I am the Cosmos and all the original BS stuff. He died too young. Car wreck, 1978.
Awe, I heard this song on Nick and Norah's Infinite playist. I loved the sound of it. Searched up the sountrack. thought i'd have to listen to every single song b4 i found it. luckily, first song i looked up to listen to was this one. :)
just heard this on the local indie station and thought "fuck, i won't be able to find this song just by writing down the lyrics, like the rest of the songs 'cos they're so unknown" but lo and behold, i found it so easily ^___^
for anyone who's been mystified by the "you could count his same kiss" line, i'm pretty positive chris actually sings, "you could go to st. kitts". either way, brilliant song, and a terribly unappreciated talent.
I'm amazed that this wasn't released in Chris's lifetime. Because he had no band. What does that tell you about record companies? Damned bunch of venture capitalist vultures.
This is all very cool. One correction I have: The part where he goes "You could count his same kiss" is actually supposed to be "We could go to St. Kitts" ...the Caribbean island.
Love this song, its soo good. Had never heard of it before i watched nick and norah's infite playlist (sooo many good songs in that movie). But now i just love this song, and lovee the movie.
@HalflifeDream I have heard alot of indie bands. I havent heard one that I think makes the grade. I do like a particular song by Band of Horses though... What are some good indie bands? maybe you can point me in the right direction.
@mystro810 definetly check out the shins, MGMT, Vampire weekend, blind pilot, and Pheonix. Also check out these songs by the flaming lips, Do you Realize, Yoshimi battles the pink robots, and fight test.
Well i can give you a list of indie bands which in my opinion are good.
The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Bravery, MGMT, The Shins, Pheonix, The Kooks, Vampire Weekend, We Are Scientists, The Submarines, The Silversun Pickups(Although they are more like indie pop). Those are about my favorites.
those are my favorite, but how about some discerning taste?? Those are the standbys, they are easily translatable to almost all Indie Kids; But I wonder which bands set your tastes apart??
I was so exited when I heard this song on Nick and Norahs playlist. I thought I had finally found a really good NEW band. should have known it was from the 70's like all the rest of my favorite music.
@Valckior haha. I dont have all night to sit here and type out the names of a million songs for you. start with Dark Side of the Moon. Its an album by Pink Floyd. Consider your life changed
