Andres Escobars death, believe it or not, did not have much to do with his own goal...he just went out at night to a dangerous zone in Colombia and raised his voice (you have to understand he's a pro athlete, he had at least a bit of an ego) at the wrong people at the wrong time at the wrong place...That's all...I have strong reasons to believe my sources more than this documentary
"I think about how a man can died coz of a simple error on a football pitch"
no truer words have being spoken about Andres Escobar, coz he score a bloody own goal he lost his life coz of an error anyone of us can do on the pitch
Once you really think about it though, even though it was extremely sad to lose the life of any person, it was for the better, if he didn't do it, it would have been a team mistake, which could cause the loss of many lives instead of that one, still nobody deserves that kind of treatment whether it be "motivational" or punishment RIP Andres Escobar
One thing often misunderstood in the circumstances of the Andres Escobar murder is that he was murdered directly as a consequence of the own goal and that it was an ordered hit or premeditated. That is false.
Colombia is a dangerontus country and by that time many people were carrying firearms wherever they went, especially in medellin, home of one of the drugcartels. Andres went out to have a drink and afterwards in the parking lot a random argument escalated into a killing by some drunk.
@M40snip wasn't "some drunk" it was the Gallon brothers, former Medellin Cartel members who turned their backs and joined Los Pepes. They were high on being part of destroying Pablo Escobar and felt that no one could talk back to them. That was the only reason they killed Andres Escobar, he talked back to them. their bodyguard was later prosecuted for the murder instead of them after they bought off the prosecutors office with the help of Carlos Castano.
@wop1989 Your stupid. I know it was the gallon brothers but thats not the main reason why they killed him. He was talking back to them after they called him a fag and a fight broke out and they shot him.
wow, Robert Sanders, wow...he tells, he lived a couple of years in colombia and still can't pronounce Andrés Escobar without the shitty accent...that's sad
Ive read a lot of comments from people saying that after Sscobar was shot that fifa should have banned the columbian team, for what, the players/management didn't pull the trigger,I think that whoever plays for the national team should be proud for 2 reasons, one it proves that they won't be imtimidated by these low lifes and 2 they are representing there country in a major tournament, anyone who says they should have been banned is talking utter shite

If columbia's soccer players know they will get killed if they loose or score their own goal from some pussy colubians with guns, then why become a coumbian soccer player?????? They shouldnt even have a soccer team, if they act like idiots.. waah waah waah, we lost a soccer game waah... BOO FUCKING HOO...fucking idiots..any body could pull a trigger mother fuckers....COME KILL ME BITCH!!!!!!!
@TheSeattlegreen that is just disrespectful.... how old are you? do you not understand the severity of this whole situation... may God bless Escobar and his family.
He tried to make his country proud and it only took a couple of Colombians to tarnish the only noble thing the country had going for them,
Viva Colombia! Y tu eres un huevon por escribiendo lo que nunca en tu vida poderias entender
@TheSeattlegreen your the idiot, andres didnt think he was going to go home and get shot this was a tradegy and a case of an angry gang member losing a bet so he killed him i dont think it the actual own goal that was the motive it was the fact that the gang member bet on colombia to win and they lost so he lost too
@TheSeattlegreen you are such an inconsiderate cock sucking shit, fucking low life, you deserve death and so does the fucking whore that gave birth to you, show some respect you piece of shit, you are scum and should be shot because you dont deserve to live, do us all a favor and go fuck your mother then kill her and yourself so the world will be ffree of such abominations and be a little bit better, you waste of sperm, your dad should have pulled his cock out before and cum ur mom tits instead
@0mgwtfbbq21 um fuck you bro, you have no clue what you are talking about. none of you do, saying he was a hero is a lie, why should someone be a hero because they died, im not saying it was right, not even close. just because he was killed becasue of a game dosent mean anything, just another death. dont make him something he isnt. rest in peace escobar
@assasinator77 nobody is saying he was a hero because he died, we are saying he is a hero because of how he changed colombian football, he is one of the best players in its history and he did a lot for us while he lived, idiot
Its really sad for me as a colombian, i remember watchin this game and seeing that i coudlnt believe it i was mad at 1st but after i got over it, when i heard about his death all i did was cry and watched all his games he played, he lost a great hero, he lost a create player, he lost a person that showed loved for his country and his team. Now im planning to get a tattoo of him, in memory of Andres Escobar...WE MISS YOU QUE VIVA COLOMBIA
they can never win a game no matter what. seriously. why do colombians even bother to play soccer? why kill this guy? does it matter? just because he made your country lose a few dollars? i can give your poor country a few dollars if you guys want.
@ShiamKing idk what yu wud say he got paid to sell the game, that ignorance rite there, if you read about him and the love he had for is team and country he wouldnt have done that, yur str8 up ignorant he didnt deserve to die over a mistake, he didnt deserve to it at all, and they were under stress of the drug lords sending me threats about wat wud happen if they lost the game
@buaysong why dont you look up all of the information? Colombia was one of the best teams in the world at the time, in fact most picked them to win the '94 world cup... and the country was making millions upon millions of dollars from soccer, not just "a few dollars"
@buaysong You don't know the situation so is better to keep quiet. Colombia's economy have gown up a lot so they don't need some "few dollars", Colombia's Football was one of the richest in the moment, AND COLOMBIA DIDN´T KILL HIM, THE ONES WHO KILLED HIM WERE THE "DRUGDEALING CARTELES" which were richer than anyone in the whole world. (even than Bill Gates)
So, if you don't have the slightest idea of a topic, don't talk about it, 'cause you raise the risk of making the fool of you. ;)
england needs to shoot rooney.. that way they can get another footballer that actually has skill year after year, not a temper-tantrum having cry baby
This is so, so, so old. Medellin and Colombia in general is so different now. Different in the way the country looks and the much less power of drug traffikers and much more. Pablo Escobar is history.
If someone could please clarify....what does "own goal" mean, I"m not a soccer follower/player and am ignorant as to what this means, sorry. I saw another documentary on Columbian soccer and this infamous goal was mentioned, but I didn't quite understand why it's called "own" meaning he scored a goal for the U.S. team?
an "own goal" is when you put the ball in you own net. The player is credited with the goal and it goes into the stats as an "own goal" So Escobar was credited with the goal, not the last US player to touch it.
@marilynnx13 That's how Colombia is? Who are you to judge this country? You probably didn't even know how to spell the name before you watched a documentary about it... lemme guess, The Two Escobars? Fuck you! I love my country Colombia, this stuff is old news now, the country is doing much, much better. Colombians aren't dumbasses, it's ignorant people like you who are dumbasses. Dumbass!
that was just one part of the big problem colombia had in the 90´s, that was a bad decade, fortunately colombia has changed a lot since the last 10 years
As a USA fan and American ,I remember how happy I was we won this game, but back then I nor America hadn't known the details that transpired before or after the game. Today I have nothing but respect for Andres and his teammates. Andres really displayed true honor and character. I kind of wished we lost that game to Colombia, thanks to these documentaries, the world knows the real story, the truth, and Colombia keeps honoring a real hero.
@ramosxp The guy didn't know that would be his fatal demise. It's not like they threatened him or anything, Colombian delinquents simply got mad at this search him out and killed him
@ramosxp you said it exactly right. as an american i now wish we would not have won against colombia. Unbelievable pressure they were under and it was not fair. i could never imagine that kind of pressure.
@grahamgrider I suppose it's a matter of opinion,we judge our heroes by different standards. I called him one not because he got killed, but because even in defeat, he left such a legacy of how to be loyal to your country, to handle pressure and adversity but still be humble regardless . We're still talking about a losing team 15+ years later, but at least now we know more than what the score was. Ironic that an Escobar began to change the country for the better, glad Andres will be remembered.
@ramosxp It was incredible that they even played considering the kind of pressure they were under (after another player's brother was killed when they lost the 1st match). They were one of the best and could have reached the finals or the last 4. Sad that they didn't even qualify for another wc after that :((
you guys should read more about the investigation... almost all of the witnesses that were outside of the club said that Escobar left the club drunk out of his mind and actually walked over to one of Gallon's associates and started talking shit after they said something to him...this was not a planned assassination.
@FAITHandLOGIC hahaha You're not, but i can´t stand when people don´t write Colombia right. Gringos tenian que ser siempre escriben Columbia en vez de Colombia
surely if you knew what it was like in Colombia, you would never return, and you would run straight off the pitch to tell your family where to run to.
nice country pride..so do they train for home games in bullet proof vests?i know its not all coumbia but tht majority tht caused this death its sick..would scare you to play for your country..an playing for your country is suppose to be the biggest honour in football?...truely shocking..r.i.p...
shame when ur career is remmebered for such a faith...
@TennesseeTitans4Life...... Stick to American football my friend. Your dont know what your talking about. Choose to believe what the american media feeds your brain. But it is not true just to tell you.
@pedrojosetrujillo92@pedrojosetrujillo92 But if they would have won that game Escobar would still be alive today. I'm sure your country gives the otherside of the story when it comes to America lol. I'm actually a big fan of soccer... or football ;), but this year is the first time i've actually watched the World Cup so I don't really know everything.
@pedrojosetrujillo92.... No.. He was killed because he stood up for hismelf and told people not to make fun of him. They didnt kill him becaus ehs cored an own goal. They killed him, because he answered back.
@pedrojosetrujillo92 That's a silly thing to say. Regardless of whether or not he stood up for himself, he was killed for scoring an own goal. Had he not scored the goal, there wouldn't have been a conflict. You make it sound like he was asking for it just cause he stood up for himself.
@SurvivorFromKansas yeah, after the first game they lost many players were getting death threats from colombian drug lords becasue they betted so much money on them and to lose, so when escobar scored his own goal i think he knew he was dead
@pedrojosetrujillo92 How do you know the truth? Face it Colombia has the highest murder rates in the world and those people especially the drug lords have killed for less.
@xmagic9x.... Your just ignorant. You dont know anything about colombia and yet you talk as if your from there. Colombias situation is much more complex than your small closed minded mind can understand.... I knew Andres Escobar, ( Believe me if u want, But he was not killed because he scored an own goal. He was killed because he got into an argument with the wrong people.
@xmagic9x Colombia no longer has the highest murder rates in the world. Don't talk shit s if you're from there. You must be all brain-washed by exaggerated media. Geez. It's not like if you go there, you're automatically in danger of being killed. It's fine now, as dangerous as any other country.
Como pudieron hacerlo Dios mioo, fue una equivocacion, la vida esta por encima de toooodoooo... que indignacionnn

All gangsters ... Columbians, Italians, etc. ... they're the ones who deserve to die. Not a soccer player. So sad.

surely if you knew what it was like in Colombia, you would never return, and you would run straight off the pitch to tell your family where to run to.

That would suck to be Escobar when you see that ball go straight towards the goal because you know that means your dead. I couldn't even imagine.

@TennesseeTitans4Life..... He wasnt killed because he scored an own goal. Thas a misconception that the western world i.e americans like to believe.
pedrojosetrujillo92 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92 That own goal lead to a loss which lead to his death.
TennesseeTitans4Life 1 year ago
@TennesseeTitans4Life...... Stick to American football my friend. Your dont know what your talking about. Choose to believe what the american media feeds your brain. But it is not true just to tell you.
pedrojosetrujillo92 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92 @pedrojosetrujillo92 But if they would have won that game Escobar would still be alive today. I'm sure your country gives the otherside of the story when it comes to America lol. I'm actually a big fan of soccer... or football ;), but this year is the first time i've actually watched the World Cup so I don't really know everything.
TennesseeTitans4Life 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92.... No.. He was killed because he stood up for hismelf and told people not to make fun of him. They didnt kill him becaus ehs cored an own goal. They killed him, because he answered back.
pedrojosetrujillo92 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92 That's a silly thing to say. Regardless of whether or not he stood up for himself, he was killed for scoring an own goal. Had he not scored the goal, there wouldn't have been a conflict. You make it sound like he was asking for it just cause he stood up for himself.
jroberts8ful 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92 Well, the own goal may not be the main reason Escobar died, but it was a reason, or am I wrong?
SurvivorFromKansas 1 year ago
@SurvivorFromKansas yeah, after the first game they lost many players were getting death threats from colombian drug lords becasue they betted so much money on them and to lose, so when escobar scored his own goal i think he knew he was dead
rogahiznumba1 1 year ago
@pedrojosetrujillo92 How do you know the truth? Face it Colombia has the highest murder rates in the world and those people especially the drug lords have killed for less.
xmagic9x 1 year ago
@xmagic9x.... Your just ignorant. You dont know anything about colombia and yet you talk as if your from there. Colombias situation is much more complex than your small closed minded mind can understand.... I knew Andres Escobar, ( Believe me if u want, But he was not killed because he scored an own goal. He was killed because he got into an argument with the wrong people.
pedrojosetrujillo92 1 year ago
@xmagic9x Colombia no longer has the highest murder rates in the world. Don't talk shit s if you're from there. You must be all brain-washed by exaggerated media. Geez. It's not like if you go there, you're automatically in danger of being killed. It's fine now, as dangerous as any other country.

@pedrojosetrujillo92 is it or does it just make a better story.

@TennesseeTitans4Life Was thinking the same thing. And none of the fans watching it and cheering/booing have any idea what is going through his head.

@TennesseeTitans4Life They killed him because he made the goal. The guy didn't know that would be his fatal demise
