  • this doesnt make your ps3 run smoother. this just intensifies the amount of dust brought in by the fan. think about it. your ps3 brings in dust and dirt because the fan is on and if you make the fan spin faster you get more dirt. FASTER FAN + DIRT = YOU CLEANING BECAUSE YOU THINK THIS FEATURE WORKS.

  • @KiddDoolittle That's why I have an air purifier in my room keeps it dust free well almost. And this is the ps3 fan test not an auto clean it send's it into a false overheat causing the ps3's fan's to spin at max speed.

  • Use a small office fan and point it to the front of the ps3. Put the fan on its low setting cycle and let it rotate. This will keep the ps3 cooler then anything you can do besides opening it up and cleaning it every 3 month's.

  • It works on my ps3 slim 120gb

  • The fan test worked on my 80GB Fat PS3, but i still couldn't get rid of the Red blinking light problem. So i just kept my ps3 on without a disc in it and it didn't turn off! Anybody knows what's the problem in my ps3 ?

  • I don't have a diseject button..

  • Does this makes tha built-in fan run every time??? Or just this time when you do this???

  • Edit: its only usefull to use if you have green dots and stripes on your screen or you got the green light but no video problems! Both are meaning your ps3 needs repair already and both COULD be caused by sticky dust on the graphics processor. In this case it could be used, because if you dont the ps3 is ready for mister mechanic already

  • LLOL, this function is merely to test if a overheating playstation still has a proper working fan, to remove a stuck disc from a ylod ps3 and if the isnt caused by a defective power supply!! It doesnt clean anything and it can actually break an already weakened ps3 due to the vibrations it causes

  • think im gonna back up 1st before i try this

  • this helped my ps3 i just did it and a puff of dust came out and now my ps3 is staying cooled down?

  • ps3 is pathetic, cooling system is so bad that it's actually funny.... got ps3 I hate it to fucking grave and I think am gonna get myself Xbox360- again.

  • @staticbeepbeep ps3 or xbox, both suck seriously on reliability.

  • this will destroy your ps3 dont do this i am serious

  • Agreed. Don't do it! My PS3 was running great until I did this, got the YLOD and had to fix.

  • ps3 or xbox 360 cant be cleaned out propperly without opening them fuck tards to drag any dust from inside itwould have to be some high powered hoover for sure infact i defy you to hoover it then open it up and not still pull a handfull of dust out hat a douche and for your info every ps3 will get ylod eventually if you dont keep therma pasting the gpu and cpu now and then like every year or two for example now go play nice shit brain : (

  • @grahamoutflying I still have my ps3 since release date. No thermal paste. No cleaning. Looking at these videos to see how I go about cleaning it. So far from what I have herd. Open top use Compressed air. Done.

I also dont want to be that guy, but I kind of understood some of the stuff you were talking about, but not everything since your grammar was kind of scattered here and there. You dont seem to understand the concept of ending you sentences right... Oh the irony.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

  • This only works on certain models of the PS3

  • dont do this guyz my stupid friend did this now he is stuck with a YLOD

  • [READ THIS] DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME BECAUSE IF YOU DO THIS IT WILL PREVENT A PS3 ERROR/ YLOD IF YOU GUYZ TRY IT YOU ARE A CULERO NEXT USE A LOW POWERED VACCUM WAT MY MANUAL SAID TO DO

  • Never Worked at all. It Overheated While i was playing Battlefield 1943.

  • it worked on my used ps3, wich was very noisy. But now its okay.

I read that it only works on pg3 40 Gb

  • dont work

  • It doesn't work

  • All my ps3 does is beeps 3 times which clearly means theres no disk inside.

  • i was kinda just waiting for rock band 2 to pop out and fall on your floor lol

  • You people don't have a fucking clue... Ok for example, i do a fan test on my ps3 when its cold. It wouldn't overheat the system in 10 seconds. And the flashing red light tells you the fan test is finished. But i wouldn't do a fan test everyday or once a week. Only do this roughly every 6 months. I had my ps3 well over 4 years now and no problems

  • you ass this is calld the fan test / emergancy eject wht this does is speeds your fan up and the 3 red flashes means the console is over heating its gonna b bout 3 or 4 months if that its gonna break i love play station y tha hell would you do that

  • @DeeBrackin i think you can do this ever so often and it wont hurt or else sony will not put this feature in the system

  • Whenever I haer or read the word "vaccum", it reminds me of Dead Space o.o

  • @ calvinchoe100 Dude you know dust can build up over time and cause your system to overheat? You that by doing this test you are blowing out some of the dust inside the system? You know that this only cleans part of the problem? You know that this test doesn't do it any harm? He is not going to get a YLOD anytime soon. In fact your more likely to get YLOD by vacuum cleaning your PS3 as that can build up static electricity which can damage your system. If anything this is a safe way of cleaning.

  • @IntenseSoldier UR WRONG!! this test is called emergency eject and it is incase ur ps3 get YLOD and theres a disk inside. And your ps3 dosent mess up if u vacuum it, because if it would why would it say to do it so in the manual

  • I gotta love seing all your uneducated comments above and beneath this comment.

This fan test can clear out some of the dust that is inside your PS3 all it does is set the fan speed to 100% - The red blinking light shows that you need to turn of your ps3 to reset the fans back to normal. This does NOT damage your PS3 in anyway shape or form.

  • ur a dumb ass that will easily ware down ur ps3 and make it easier for it to overheat

  • @jlucman24 Are you actually mentally retarded? This fan test DOES not make your PS3 overheat or wear down? Worst thing it does is cool down your ps3. Lol at your dumb brain.

  • @IntenseSoldier really? cause i dont fucking care ur dumb as hell stfu

  • fuck u dude

  • Comment removed

  • People, i warn you, do NOT do this, the red blinking light shows that ur PS3 is overheat. Do not do this

  • how do i clean my ps3 out properly??? with the low powered vacuum??? do i take it apart?

  • 0:52 damn this video has amazing 3D effect!

  • I got YLOD but when i try to get my disc out by doing the Fan-test it doesnt help anything ive tried anything except taking ps3 apart

  • You dumbass. This Fan-test is for the technicians by Sony only for like the name says: Testing, not cleaning. Hope your PS3 Broke since this Video. IT IS NO HIDDEN FEATURE. Or don't you think theres a reason why its hidden? Idiot

  • how is it running in 2011

  • LOL please post a vid when you get your YLOD!

  • you will find that is called the 'Fan Test' retard!! and if you search PS3 fan test error on youtube you will find that it generally fucks up by giving it YLOD!!

  • lol @ the way u fly out the cd xd

  • you can just go menu make disc run smoother (=

  • I DID THIS AND MY PS3 WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!

  • just use fucking vacuum cleaner you scum bag you gonna break your ps3

  • please don't ever do this.... I had to take apart mine and trust me it is a pain in the ass

  • @JlandelMoncada1 its not that hard ;)

  • Yeah, you're getting flagged, just because you're such a prick

  • thats the dumest shit u can ever recomend someone to do with their ps3s . .

  • omg stop violating the PS3!!! Dx

  • This is really helpfull coz it cleans out ur fan and deangpc u can turn off the overheat thing in the settings menu and ultimate sniper u can by a booster fan from argos or something like that :)

  • @doheby. Don't ever buy a cooling fan. I bought one from argos and it cooled it down but it sucked in loads of dust with it and fucked up the insides. It was just the dust in the air. But it wrecked it.

  • who would want to follow you on twitter

  • wow ur gana mess up ur ps3 the built in fan is only 4 when it over heats plus red bilking lights are usaly bad

  • i put my 80 gig ps3 on a glass table lay down behind the glass table is my door and i leave it open when i play is it safe like and will it overheat plz answer it

  • @tommyskate147 wtf I play mine against a wall and two speakers on the sides and it never overheated... lool

  • Would this be a good way to test if the fan's are actually working? My ps3 60 gb shuts down on average after 2 hours of use. I get a clicking noise (sounds like internal fan) but no air change, just leaking hot air. in the last few minutes it stays on, then goes to the blinking red light, until i reset the power and let it rest a few more hours.

  • ok can some1 tell me my screen always goes staticky and shit is it my hd cable or my ps3 cuz i barley bought the ps3 and the cable i found on my dresser but it only does it every 1nce in a while

  • dose you ps3 still work to day ?

  • This is strange, When Im playing online the fan is allways like that, then The texture of the screen goes dodgy, I need to get a fan to stop it overheating, Anyone got any tips??

  • Hello Martin,

I apologize for any misunderstanding about the cleaning video you viewed for the PlayStation®3 system. The method you describe is not recommended by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). If you tried the method which you describe, you could possibly overheat your PlayStation 3 system and damage it, thus potentially rendering your system unserviceable.

    Regards,

    Nancy B.

  • The best way to have your PS3 run "nice and smoothly" is to use a vacuum cleaner and a can of compressed air. Blast the air out through the vents using the air and then use the vacuum cleaner to suck up the rest. And if you really want to get it running nice and smoothly, take the system apart, thoroughly clean the fan (each and every blade) and blast out all the air from the PSU and off the circuit board. That's what I did because my system is 3 years old (no warranty). Worked like a charm.

  • my friend this process is for people who got the ylod and want to get their disc out. do not do this please. have a good day.

  • doesnt this mess up ur ps3?

  • I suppose this is good for getting dust off the fans, but I doubt its strong enough to blow the dust out of the system... oh and YLOD can be fixed easily with a hairdryer

  • 332 People are people who got the YLOD after trying this.

  • ok but it wont workkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk maaan

  • @qballa7891 it doesn't work with 60gb systems. I'm assuming that's what you have...

  • Flashing red light = one sign of yellow light of death !!!!!!!

That's how to remove the disc from a ps3 with ylod btw

  • My PS3 IS LOVING ITS NEW CLEANUP!!!!!!!1

  • You are ignorant. Why only just few models do this? Have you ever wonder?

Before saying BS like "sony does this", let me enlighten you that, Sony does NOT do this , and sony doesnt do that before shipping consoles, you are so stupid that you think that SONY testing the fans after installation, well guess what? they dont need to! The fans are tested/verified before getting in to a PS3.

Keep dooing this an soon your fun will sound like a train

  • bullshit

  • hahahah fucking retards. When your ps3 gets THAT loud how could you have the idea of it being beneficial for your system?

  • @smackmehard123 Well unless you're a ninja, cleaning is usually a somewhat noisy process.

  • and your ps3 is louder

  • iv had 4 ylod please dont try this it makes the same soud as the ylod but if your lucky it will turn on

  • can't get mine to do it.

  • @zombiesass it doesn't work on 60gb systems.

  • More like, how to turn your PS3 to an xbox 360.

  • @ReyGosf dude shut the fuck up

  • DUDE YOUR AN ABSOULUTE FUCK HEAD!!! WE ACTUALLY CLEAN OUR PS3 PROPERLY BY READING THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE PS3 DICK WARD!! IT SAYS IN THE MANUAL "CLEAN THE PS3 BY USING A LOW POWERED VACUUM CLEANER!!!! THUMBS UP IF THIS DUDE IS GOING TO HAVE A YLOD IN THE NEAR FUTURE !!!!!

  • @calvinchoe100 he is right dude

  • @calvinchoe100 i tried the low power vacum thing and i cant get the dust to come out. :( help me

  • @calvinchoe100 looking at the date of this video he probably got it ages ago.

  • @calvinchoe100 You my friend are an absolute idiot.

  • @IntenseSoldier how am i an idiot with 42 likes.all im saying that this dude is going to be shit boredless without his ps3 due to ylod? trust me some people care about their ps3 and unlike some peiople like this dude doign the how to clean ps3 is going to have serious problems with his ps3 in the future or now.

  • @calvinchoe100 Dude you know dust can build up over time and cause your system to overheat? You that by doing this test you are blowing out some of the dust inside the system? You know that this only cleans part of the problem? You know that this test doesn't do it any harm? He is not going to get a YLOD anytime soon. In fact your more likely to get YLOD by vacuum cleaning your PS3 as that can build up static electricity which can damage your system. If anything this is a safe way of cleaning.

  • @calvinchoe100 nice save i was gonna try this till i saw your comment.

  • dud my ps3 is like fucked up cuz like my cotrole is doing everything by its self it goes all the wey to the right n its hard to move to the disc so i can play n i get online n in the game the guy is running like a retard with the screen over his head

  • Where the fu** did u get this from?? how to clean your ps3 fat for RETARDS book?? R.I.P. PS3. what did he do to you dumb fuck??

  • This would not fuck up ur system if it will then why did they fuckin build it in the ps3 to fuck up your system I done this two times and nothing has happen to my ps3 and it would not do any damage

  • IT IS SAFE .

Testing/cleaning your fan this way don't overheat your playstation ,

it is complete bullchit created by stupid fat kids on the internet .

But , if you over use it ( like twice a day ) you will have problem , ( because it actualy make the fan speed @ MAX during like 15sec)

  • LOL i've done this to my ps3 SEVERAL times and i havent had any "errors" at all

  • this video as uploaded and recorded on 2008 so his PS3 might be dead already just by doing that

  • STUPID FUCK

  • plz dont do this shit

  • The reason the ps3 think its over heating because it the fan is running as fast as it can go there for the ps3 thinks its over heating its not really its nothing bad for it other wise it wouldn't be there

  • Hey, you better change the video title in " How to destroy your Playstation 3 using its built in fan

  • 0:51 if this was in 3D we would've all shit our pants at this point

  • i did this 2 times is my 40 gb still ok if i dont do it anymore

  • RED LIGHT= OVER HEATING!!!

Easier way is just flipping the PS3, making the fans face down, and just do it for 10-20 seconds, with out overheating like this guy ..... i did it 2 times works nicely

  • that LOAD sound not good u are messing up your system (no 1 do it)

  • Wow epic fail at 1:09 is this guy a retard. blinking red lights = EPIC FAIL and he still tries to force the game in lol

  • or just fuckin go to wal mart and buy a compressed air thing for cleaning computers and blow all the dust out instead of destroying ur ps3 like this..

  • If your going to try and keep your ps3 or ps2 from over heating make sure the heat sink is not full of dust and debre and make sure that all vents is clear so that is can pass air thourgh, take it apart if you have too, and use a can of air to clean it out ya running the fan at high speed is not going to hurt it not one bit, just dont relay on the fan to push all of the build up dust and out because it will not work a little extra TLC will go a long way, trust me on this info i rebuild Them

  • THIS WILL NOT MESS UP YOUR PS3 I HAVE DONE THIS A LOT OF TIMES AND IT WORKS GREAT AND MY PS3 ACTUALLY WORKS BETTER NOW

  • not cool

  • this feature was made so u can get ur games out when it gets the ylod or fucks up, please dont use this to cool it.

thumbs up so everyone can see plz

  • when sony built this playstaion why the fuck would they put something on the console to purposely fuck up ur console...seriously..all the people who think that this way of cleaning ur system will make it fuck up...u are truely STUPID!

  • hahahaaaaaaaaaaaa he is funny

  • How to f*** up your ps3 nice and smoothly...

    3 bips = system error

    Conclusion... don't do this!...

  • Nice way to overheat and burn the fuck out your ps3.The thing is stupid ppl will do this after watching your vid...

  • U thnk tis works

  • its funny caus hes gonna make a call 2 sony very shortly for repair

  • This is how you break your PS3.

  • @juba1944 HE SHE PROBABLY WORKS FOR SONY AND ITS A WAY ON MAKE MONEY

  • dude..... ur ps3 is fucked

  • What a dip shit!

  • WoW Thats One Loud Ass pS3 LoL Im Happy My !60 Doesnt Sound like That

  • @longpreboi it probably does...

  • lmao this is the best way to fuck up your ps3!

  • 1_ play the vid

2_when it stops because it is loading, press the up arrow.

3_ thumbs up if you played snake :D

  • @ElCholoProductions LLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL thats sicck how did u find that out :)

  • The stupidity of people amazes me. Do you think Sony would put this feature in, if it could damage your PS3? It's there for a reason. It's easy for a reason.

  • @alphadev It was removed in later models because it CAN damage your PS3.

  • I don't get it. Do you people ever think outside the box? 3 Beeps mean an error OR a message. In this case it gives a message that the Fan Test (because that's what it is) has ended. Geez, people are so retarded.

  • omg this guys a retard, its on £2.99 for compressed air why mess up ur ps3 fully

You dislike this video. Thanks for the feedback!

  • omg this guys a retard, its on £2.99 for compressed air why mess up ur ps3 fully

  • omgod vacuum cleaner :D

  • This will void your warranty by doing this! Idiots put these videos up before they investigate the conseqences!!! If you dont want your PS3 to work properly then follow this idiots instructions!!!

  • Holy crap! Sounds louder than my vacuum cleaner... that definitely can't be good

  • DO NOT EVER DO THIS!!!!

    3beeps 3Red lights = ERROR.

This is not a hidden feature!!!!!!

  • @acidcharon i know i did this once and never did it again

but then why has this 'secret' fan thing been made

  • @acidcharon Dumb ass after it does u unplug and plug the power cord back in it is a hidden feature SONY do to test there fans.

  • @acidcharon how can it fucking be bad for ur ps3? its a fucking fan test which makes the fan go faster and take in more cold air SO HOW THE FUCK IS IT BAD?

  • @acidcharon u dumbass SONY even do the test before they box it all u do is unplug then plug the power cord back in its made to test the fan and blow all dust out of system.

  • @acidcharon its a fan test the company does it before they ship the consoles out....

  • @acidcharon no, this aint a hidden feature, the manual says so, and 3 lights mean it's powering down, not error, if not, sony wouldnt put that feature, and they wouldnt put it on the manual dude

  • @acidcharon but at me i have the 40 gb the (LÜFTER (german)) dont blew on, befor i do this

  • @acidcharon it is on ps3 slim i tried it it works

  • please HELP me people, I have a PS3 for over a year, but I just yesterday bought an LCD TV (Sony Bravia 37 inches). I don't have HDMI cabel, picture on new TV is bad in games, (fuzzy images, trembling image). How can I fix it?

  • @MrKanda90 get a hdmi cable it makes all the differance trust me i had the same prob a week ago

  • @1916TheMan thanks man, I've just today bought the HDMI cable for 12 euros, and now picture iz amazing, 1080p resolution! ;))

  • @MrKanda90 euros where u from ?i got mine for 4 euros :P

  • @1916TheMan xaxa, yeah man, for 12 euros, and I am from Montenegro :) (ex Serbia and Montenegro :D )

  • @MrKanda90 kul im from ireland..u have ps3 online

  • @1916TheMan yeah man, send me a request, I'm KandaPFC (PFC because Partizan Belgrade - this year in Champions League :D )

  • that breaks ur ps3 dumbass

  • pretty sure that fucks it up

  • @scottman181 it look slike it lol

  • how old are you ?x

  • A lot of people seem be saying this is bad for the PS3 though.. like REALLY bad.. xD

Also, did anyone else notice that Sony did the same thing with PS2 and PS3, they had a switch on the back for the regular, and then removed it for the Slims. xD

  • lol wut a noice.. i got ps3 slim

  • sounds like my Xbox while listening to music for 2mins.

  • HAHA it sounds like mine and mine has ylod

  • This guy is more or less bust his PS3. To all of you who watched this. Dont do it. mostly everyone who commented had reasons so for an overall.. the red lights mean overheating, the fast fan is boosting the fan to go faster ' this should only happen automatically. its like pulling a door with a push sign. no reason to do it. and from the manual fan boost button it ruins the ps3 system. the best method is to take it all out by hand.. hoover or wipe it from the side vents. thank you for your time.

  • SO...did a bunch of dust get blown out the back of it or what exactly does this achieve? I've opened my PS3 and there were dust bunnies in there that could only be taken out by hand. No way could the fan push them out.

  • hi i have a ps3 every time i play game for about a hour it over heats and sticks in a game how can i get it to cool down fast?

  • @jorfor1234 maybe your fan is not working properly...... second you should never try what this guy did..... is a self mechanism and is trigger automatically..... open your ps3 carefully and if you dont know what you doing then find someone or clean it from the outside..... Also try not to keep the back-side close to anything for example: the wall.... this will not let the air flow.... but it maybe the fan if you have warranty you should take it back....

  • No thanks..
