Excellent!! That is the whole purpose for this project. Your idea of making several of them is a good idea. Charge them up before the storm hits and spread them around the house. When the power goes out you won't be in the dark. A solar panel will charge them up during the day and keep them going until the main power is restored.
You could probably use one of these for that next ice storm up there. The only problem is that I have this set up to run on sunny southern California solar energy. Its ready for THE BIG ONE. lol In the mean time I'll just use it on the boat.
