Why would you roll down the volume and turn the gain all the way up? all you're doing is completely eliminating the power tubes, giving it a disgusting fat/muddy tone, and making the amp sound like shit. It doesn't show how clear the Dark terror can get
why do people always suggest that metal always be played with the neck pickup?!?! it sounds like fat shit if you do, play it with both tones on 10, the neck pickup volume on 0 and the bridge pickup on 10!!! turn the gain on the TINY terror to about 8-9, the ton in about 9-10 and the volume to 7 or 8 for the tubes to really drive, it help with metal playing so much more.
The problem is that the metal tones are past the 12'oclock point on the shape control -he doesn't go there.plus Orange should've abondoned the cathode bias power section and went with the typically tighter fixed bias config.it would have more power (20+watts) and be ballsier with less fizz.
That doesn't sound enough metal to me. The Dark Terror has the same filthy sound than the Tiny Terror which is more appropriate for ACDC-style crunch or fuzz in my view. It just adds some more gain... Not good enough for in-your-face metal tones.
@Behindspace90 I maintain. By the way I've been trying the TT so I'm pretty categoric. You can have a much better sound with a Blackstar DistX pedal for example. The upcoming Mesa Mini Rectifier is gonna kill this faggy Orange thing ;p
@morbol64 Well, in the end it's all personal taste of course. But IMO stompbox distortion is awful, especially at high volumes. And the Mini Rectifier actually is an entire different amp: the difference in tubes is what sets those two amps apart. It's the classic difference between the British and the American sound. I prefer the American sound as well for most of MY playing, but I would love to have a British voiced amp for some other genres, it really depends. :)
@forgidotcom It would be good if you could do a comparison between the tiny terror and the dark terror. Also what do you think of the Blackstar HT-5 if you have tried it?
nice playing! how is the dark terror compared to the tiny terror? is there more gain in it or why is the name dark terror? is the drive sound more vintage like an old marshall or more modern?
@scarparkm3 it's an orange. it will at no point sound like a vintage marshall. but either way, it'll be pretty modern sounding. like a british version of a Mesa, but more versatile and not as stupid.

Say that I plug this baby to a 4x12.
Will I be heard over a loud heavy drummer?
Has anyone rehearsed or giged with it?
Cheers!
