To JCFlash - I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'd be interested in discussing some of your comments via email as youtube only allows for around 400 characters. I'd like to know why you feel my corresponding with a murderer is "pathetic". Regarding a prison break, my father was career FBI and I was raised to respect the law, and I do. Bedford Correctional has no signs posted, nor did they tell us during our visit we were not allowed to take photographs outside the prison.

@CatherineCrowe Actually if you look around the facility there will be signs and its well known you shouldnt and can not take photos or videos. And the man is a murderer, enough said, he took the life of another person and you feel he deserves to talk to the outside world? That is sad if you believe that. Hell just the other day a few officers and myself beat the shit out of a murder/rapist... hows that float your boat?

@jcflash7 Hmmm. I guess I'd have to hunt for the signs next visit. I would think if it's important not to take pictures the CO's would outline this with the other restrictions they tell you about. The woman (It's Bedford Hills, after all, a women's correctional facility) I correspond with is indeed a murderer and she makes no bones about this fact. I'm not sure why you think it's sad that I correspond with her. Why do you? I'm very interested in knowing more.

Oprah Magazine featured an article on Eve Ensler's Doc. "What I want my words to tell you." It's a moving film on a group of inmates who used a writing program run by Ensler to assist the themselves in working through their situation using words. One of the inmates' photos spoke volumes. For some reason I connected with the picture and her life story and ended up writing to her to say hello and to let her know I was thinking of her.

You're lucky to have gotten video of BH. I was there visiting a few years ago and when I tried to take pictures of the facility, two correction's officers started yelling at me (very rudely, I might add) about not being able to take pictures. It was digital so I showed them the photo's had been removed. But wow! You would have thought I was trying to break someone out. I'm sorry to hear your cousin is in prison for murder. I am a pen pal to an inmate in for 25 to life for murder.

@CatherineCrowe I'm a CO in NY... and it's against the law to take pictures due to the fact that you can use photos for breaking people out. Not that you were planing it but it don't matter who you are. And we have to be rude... its part of our job and how we uphold who we are. And being a pen pal to a murderer is pathetic.
