  • ABSOLUTELY

  • a great artist.

  • I wonder what happens when they turn off the light in the middle of him playing. Heari g him continue to play in the dark would add to the amazement.

  • God has given him special hands and ears instead of eyes. What an amazing gift.

  • Genius

  • @piano8o8

  • good 好棒

  • 審査員の方が涙をおさえられず席を立ってしまったというのが

    よくわかる・・・。

  • Nobuyuki is the Miles Davis of his generation....we can all be thankful that we're sharing the planet at the same time.

  • His playing from 7'-00" to about 7'-45" is miraculous....!

  • @radiokid2 intuitive of you to notice that. most people are just looking for the faster passages and don't appreciate the power of theses besautiful notes.

  • BRILLIANT

  • BRAVISSIMO!!!! SPECTACULAR !!!! OUT OF THIS WORLD...OH MY GOD

    MANY BLESSINGS

  • whose the asshole who disliked this? piece a shit ass jockey

  • Yundi Li can take his facial expressions and weird wrong notes and kiss my ass.

  • Grandioso....bravo Nobuyuki Tsujii....eccezionale ....ammirevole!

  • I love his style of playing. It is very romantic... and never overt

  • Just returned from Nobuyuki's recital in California, on Oct. 18, 2010, and had the rare opportunity to listen in on his practices and to sit not more than 20' from him during performance, with full view of the keyboard. Seen close-up, his techniques are even more impressive. The fluidity of his fingering defies belief. But it doesn't come easy: he practiced >5 hours straight as soon as he got off the plane, and again until an hour before the show. Awe-inspiring in so many ways.

  • @mlliu2006 You were indeed lucky to have such an intimate experience as his practice session. I was lucky enough to see him perform this very concerto in Poughkeepsie NY in Oct. I traveled from south Florida just for the concert and can tell you it was worth it. Hope to see him again soon.

  • @odagledja I was indeed fortunate but I kicked myself for not going to his concert in Poughkeepsie. Please visit my "nobufans" site (by searching "nobufans" on goo... and take the first link) to read some articles I collected about that concert, including a glowing review. Nobu also performed this concerto at the University of Oklahoma in April 2010 and the campus fell madly in love with him. Read about it on my site.

  • hahaha he is good!!!

i listened to the other guy who won gold with him, haochen zhang. he performed in rochester last year... and he ruined tchaikovsky's first piano concerto. NO EMOTIONS, NO SPIRIT, SO MECHANICAL!

i wish this guy would have come instead T_T

  • @koryano321

    > ... tchaikovsky's first piano concerto (No. 1) ...

Nobu did perform this concerto in Texas (Oct 2010) and then in England (Dec 2010), and "brought the house down" each time. On Jan 13, 2011, you can listen to his performance of the concerto in England on BBC 3, and the broadcast can be listened to for 7 days thereafter. Search "nobufans" on goo... and take the first link, for more details.

  • He is a real miracle ... ~ and even not considering his blindness, his music is at worth with itself... very sensitive, delicate, and confortable... It feel like my weary soul rest in those..

  • wait a minute, this is Piano Concerto No. 1 (第一番) not 2 (第二番). small typo in the youtube headindg.

  • This performance is in my opinion the best among all the memorable performances of Nobuyuki Tsujii at the Cliburn Competition. Couple things: 1. The webcast on the Cliburn site still has this performance in its entirety - I checked with the Cliburn people and they said it will be there indefinitely.. 2. This concerto is included in a CD titled "Nobuyuki Tsujii: Chopin", available at the Cliburn Foundation site, amazon, and iTune.

  • Can I buy a copy of this performance somewhere? I'd love to get it for my mother.

  • @anneis46

Saw your question on Nobuyuki Tsujii's Chopin Concert? There is no DVD of the performance but there is a great CD out "Nobuyuki Tsujii: Chopin" that contains a recording of this performance, plus the 12 Chopin etudes that he played. First rate all around! Also, you can go to the Van Cliburn website to watch the webcast of this entire performance.

  • @anneis46 buy evgeny kissin's performance of it =) his interpretation is quite something also.

not sure, i would check the van cliburn website, but it is only the first movement they play for the competition... so you are missing out on the great 3rd movement....

buy evgeny kissin the legendary 1984 moscow concert on amazon including both chopin piano concerto no.1 and 2.

amazing playing, crazy emotional depth from a 12 year old.

  • "delicate" is perhaps the most suitable word to use for nobuyuki!

  • Spectacular performance! Awesome, to say the least. Bravo.
