  • Frank walked out and played this guitar at the Ritz in Nyc in nov,1981.I swear he played it liked it was Jimi's maggot infested corpse,it was sick I was right in front of Frank that night,I cry everytime I think about it.

  • people need to calm their 60s music boners, seriously hendrix is still not the best guitar player of all time, its been 50 years ago music has evolved and died since then

  • @valdivia562 No. Hendrix is the best, man.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green im going to take a wild guess and say you are over 20 or a young stoner

  • @valdivia562 Neither. Assumptions make an ass out of you and me.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green you sound like my friend max but anyways hendrix is not always gonna be number 1 there have been others that are WAY better than he is

  • @valdivia562 Well, I'm not Max. Hendrix was an innovator. Everyone else just imitates.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green zimmer down. hendrix just made a ton a noise compared to some people right now like marty friedman, check his stuff out you will totally change your mind

  • @valdivia562 Every other guitar center idiot plays the same way as Marty Friedman. Marty Friedman is not unique nor is he an innovator.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green BULLSHIT!! anyone can play like hendrix, you just need to plug in your guitar into a bunch of effects and throw it at your amp for the feedback, as for innovation i guess he was the first to play like shit really loud. trust me ask any guitarist that is serious about playing on marty friedman and they would tell you how innovative and creative he is. he has inspired so many people you have no idea

  • @valdivia562 Obvious troll is obvious. You gave yourself away. I remember when trolling was an art.

    3/10 because I replied.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green troll? if i wanted to troll you i would of done it already

  • New Fender Relic: the Hendrix Flameburst Strat.

Comes with a burned-off finish, a broken neck in the case, and a totally gey non-vintage looking replacement neck installed.

  • That guitar wasnt the same one that Jimi torched on stage at Monterrey.Just watch the clip. The guitar that Jimi torched was fiesta red with with the top partially painted white with artwork drawn on it, possibly by him. The guitar that dweezil is holding is/was sunburst. Also after Jimi torched it he broke it into several pieces and threw the pieces into the crowd. The one Zappa got from him is a totally differant guitar.

  • OK well... all the pieces where trown into the audiance so who collected them all and what audiance members where willing to give up such a thing?? This must be explained. Also there was not enough left to "restore" so HUH????

  • no original components except for the body. Watch other videos there is a different pick guard and Neck for this same guitar!!!!

  • Hey dad I found the jimi hendrix guitar !! lol

  • Strat'o'caster!

  • what a find that would be!!!

  • Jimi can play and burn ANY of my guitars..!!

    RIP Jimi

  • play with this guitare is like have sex with mary .... it kill a legend for nothing

  • @0:17 did they really need to show jimi pretty much molesting his guitar and stack?

  • @WAVOone yeah

  • @WAVOone yes.

  • Dweezil dident sell it tho im happey bought that

  • I wasn't sold .Dweezil still owns it.

  • I wonder what Frank would have though of the guitar being sold if he was still alive...

  • bentfender guy we don't get you

  • I have a slight problem with this...why is the restored guitar in question right handed??? Jimmy played left handed as also shown in this very video...just saying.

  • @MegaHollywood66 hendrix played a right handed guitar strung backwards

  • @MrFendertele55555 Thanx... Rock On!!

  • @MrFendertele55555 Then it very well could be then...Thanks...

  • @MegaHollywood66 well for one thing dwezill still owns it,dwezill and alice cooper just played together and that was the guitar he playd and if u look again it is the henrix guitar the tuneing keys r on the bottom hes holding ot the other way strings r done the opisit way,he did say he reecondishend it its a costom now

  • @MegaHollywood66

Jimi as far as I know played right handed strats with the strings flipped so he could play it left. Left handed electric guitars weren't neeeeearly as common then as they are now.

  • Hendrix was out of tune and over-rated... he knew it, which is why he set the thing on fire... finally a hot lick....

  • how dare any you xon za vitches rip on frank or dweezil may you all spawn cabbage on your scrotums zeirt nat comonstaven neuch vot hemoglobin

  • BTW the money raised by the guitar went to the foundation which trains doctors to spot signs of prostate cancer early.

  • one million dollars... well... i don't know... it is just a half-burned piece of wood with strings on it, isn't it ? Just put it in a jimmy hendrix museum or something...

  • I suppose it wasn't even a particularly good strat either... Hendrix wouldn't set it on fire if it was... would he ?

  • Fender strate-o-casta

  • the...Fendah...Stratah...castah...

  • restore it, nOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Thumbs for the WEEZ...

  • lol, the face of that guy at the end, its like "WTF?"

  • why are the playing Watchtower? Wild thing was the whole theme of what was going on.

  • The late Hiram Bullock also had one of Hendrix's "burnt" guitars and used it nightly on the David Letterman Show. He also used it on David Sanborns short-lived TV show.

  • that Ibanez destroyer looks pretty cool

  • There's so many mistakes it isn't funny

  • The Strat Hendrix smashed at the Monterey Pop fest was shattered and peices of it were kept by Cass Elliot and Brian Jones (so wherever that went, WHO KNOWS?!? - Bad hendrix pun) Anyway, This Strat was supposedly given to Frank Zappa at the Miami Pop fest. So there you go.

  • Strat O Caster

  • @MrElfro89 named after the irish builder - strat o'caster i believe .

  • the reporter said miami rock festival...unless he did it elsewhere im pretty sure it was the montery rock festival.(which i have on dvd)

  • @lordpookus He burnt multiple guitars on stage. It was given to Frank at the Miami Festival, but may have been burnt the week before in London.

  • @QtommyQ ah ok. i was not aware of this. i'd only heard of the montery and woodstock.

and i thought i knew a bit about jimi. hahaq

  • When the anchorman says 'Strat-o-caster", you can almost picture him using "finger quotes" in the air.

  • just to remind you to dweezil my local worldly man is highly dynamo hum knotworthy

  • the fenda ... strat-o ... casta.

  • that reporter wants to run out of the studio to go buy it

  • @alsharpton666 hahahaha yeah:-D well the guitar he,s never been sold dweezil still owns the cool hendrix guitar;-)

  • he's so cute lol

  • The only original part of that guitar is the body. Everything else has been replaced

  • @Glockenator does it matter really....? to me, that just makes it even more precious...plus the neck was destroyed and the pots n shit were melted. Now its playable. if i had the cash to piss i would slap a bid on it.

  • Comment removed

  • lol look at ending face

  • ha cool

  • Everybody knows the only thing left of that guitar is the body. Everything else has been replaced.

  • Zappa on the Hendrix guitar in Jan 1977 guitar player

    afka.net/images/Magazines/1977/1977-01-xx%20Guitar%20Player%20v11n1%2003.jpg

  • It's not the Monterrey Pop festival guitar shown in the footage they showed. It's a different one Hendrix burned at an earlier show, and that was not the Miami festival either. The news media of course cannot get their facts correct.

  • This video is from 2002. I remember all the hype around this but I never heard how it ended. Did the guitar ever sell? What was the selling price? Anybody have a link? I didn't find anything.

  • @HolyJumpinJeezuz I heard Dweezil was highest bidder?

  • @HolyJumpinJeezuz dweezil still has it, he wasn't happy with the highest bid and kept it...

  • 'Fender Stratoe-caster'

  • Who has the original neck? - it looks like in the restoration a lefty neck was used.

  • @timeabstract ya dweezil decided to put a lefty neck on "as a nod to hendrix" although, that makes no sense to me. but the neck and pickups were damaged beyond repair, and so he replaced them. i believe he still has those original parts, although some parts did actually go missing

  • @1JAT1 ha! yeah he probably still has thoes old parts in a safe. the neck will fetch 300,000.00 the pickups....200,000.00. ect ect.

  • Who has the original neck?

  • that old guys reaction at the end was Priceless

  • Epic 2 Handed Lick at 1:11.

  • why didnt dweez keep it :( his dad told him to

  • @sharpsuitedmod He did keep it. This is bogus.

  • This report, (as usual when it comes to Hendrix) is incorrect. Jimi didnt burn his guitar at Miami 68 and not only that, he didnt even play this model at Miami :)

Jimi gave it to a roadie after he burnt it at the London Astoria in 1967, who then gave it to Frank.

  • @capetown99 Yep! How many mistakes were in that news clip?

    1. It's not the legendary Monterrey guitar

    2. Yet, they show the Monterrey guitar burning

    3. Worse yet, they call Monterrey the Miami rock festival

    3. The night it was burned was the Astoria show, not the Miami show

    4. Zappa didn't get it until the Miami show

  • @fenderstratguy this needs more thumpds

  • @fenderstratguy Right??!! Well, at least we get to see Dweezil jam.

  • @fenderstratguy dude, it's the brits. all they care about is the queen. also the news caster in the beginning said 1million dollars. the guy at the end said 3 to 4 hundred thousand pounds. lol more mistakes!

  • @littletingoddess96 actually fool 3 to 4 hundred thousand pounds is about 1 million dollars the british pound is of more value than the american dollar so as always dumb yank get your head out of your ass and clean up YOUR mistakes

  • @backbeatbobby easy tough guy. you MIGHT make someone cry!!! :(

  • @fenderstratguy I saw frank solo on it for the city of tiny lights solo in the 1978 palladium show halloween. It was a great moment to see zappa improvising on jimis burnt strat.

  • Like hittin' the lottery.

  • funny to see how people that not play any instrument come to youtube to compare britney spears with cristina aguilera, metallica with megadeth, true death metal vs false death metal, zappa with steve vai, steve vai with dweezil, becker with malmsteen, malmsteen with steve vai, segovia with paco de lucia... ...stupidity on large scale repited by a zillion..

  • 1:26 epic face

  • strato-caster lol

  • hahaha the reporter's look at the end of the video

  • @skatedude724 LMAO it's when you know he shit bricks.

  • it was actually given to Zappa by a Hendrix Roadie....

  • What's the name of the Hendrix'song at the begining?

  • all along the watchtower

  • Dude!

  • is/was Jimi humping an Marshall stack on 0:20?

  • @VoodooChildLesPaul yes, he used to have to have roadies behind the stack to keep it from falling over. Just an example of how inventive hendrix was.

  • 1:27 - 1:28

  • dont fuckin sell it! whyyy would u lol im ashamed off you dweezle! you cant be skint!

  • The look on the newscasters face at the very end says it all!

  • Fuck yeah, I'd rob a bank for that!

  • How interesting

  • JIMI HENDRIX our musical god... WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH

  • Comment removed

  • That's not the original neck. The upside-down headstock made me suspicious, so I checked, and the picture of FZ on the cover of the Jan. 1977 Guitar Player mag holding the burnt Hendrix strat shows the guitar had a rosewood fretboard.

  • REALLY... I MEAN REALLY.... TAPPING!

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahaha he fingertaping on the hendrix guitar.

  • its kinda funny that this guitar was found by the zappas.you would think a nobody would find it.why cant shit like this happen to me...just once in my life

  • privledged

  • the ending lol

  • i definatly laughed out loud haha

  • u dont sell it u dummy, you keep it to play good ole jimmy tunes, right people, what is he thinking, ooh money....

  • Apparently it wasn't sold, dweezil still has it.

  • It was Monterey, 1967, and Zappa didn't play that night.

    How relevant!

  • @foutupourfoutu

thats what i thought at first, but they did both play at the miami pop festival in 1968, where Jimi did burned a guitar (and played a les paul :O ), plus at monterey he played a rosewood, and this maple

  • @noah1i8 Oooh okay thanks for the info!

  • dustballs under the bed? get the fuck out of my house!

  • ... why the fuck would you sell that?

  • 'memorabilia' is rubbish... the Big Note is Right Now!!

  • I stood 6 feet away from Jimi as he played "Voodoo Child" at what was to be the last JHE concert in Denver in 1969. Marque bought the tickets.

  • whoa.....i would love to be near Jimi Hendrix, or at least have lived in the 60's

  • I saw Moon once say "I don't know why my dad had to be king of the weirdos." Well Miss Unit those weirdos paid for everything you have, it seems Frank was the father of a few weirdos as well. Just a footnote: I own about 90% of what Zappa released and my best friend in 9th grade was Marque Coy, as is "Marqueson's Chicken", Zappa's studio/stage sound man. I once spent hours with Jimmy Carl Black who regaled me with stories heretofore unknown.

  • I had read once that they were replacing parts and my heart sank. A prime example of the Ivory Tower in which people like "The Dweez" live. To have changed that guitar in any way destroyed its historical value. It was ignorant . Jimi had many Strats and the Zappa's could have afforded any one of them! Compared to what it was, it is worthless now and only a bonehead would pay more than $1000.00 for it.

  • @cravinbob They "replaced parts" because it was literally unplayable. The neck and the electronics were all destroyed due to Jimi trashing it. The guitar was given to Frank by Jimi and at the time nobody would've thought of something like that as being very valuable. Besides, guitars are meant to be played and heard, not stared at in a glass case.

  • @twb176 Agreed so hard.

  • @twb176 So basicly it's just the original body. Any idea on why Dweezil wanted or needed to sell the Jimmy guitar and what price eventually it was sold/auctioned for? Just a little curious that's all. I agree, instruments should be played, not collected and stared at. Ah well...

  • @DaVooz J-I-M-I. sorry, I don't want to sound like a dick, or sound rude. But it's a pet peave.

  • Comment removed

  • it was never "forgotten about" - guitar players all over the world new FZappa had this guitar - he was photographed with it on the cover of Guitar Player magazine back in 1978.

Did Dweezil rebuild it? Frank made it playable again I think. Certainly one of the holy grail's of rock memorabilia.

  • Man.... I wish I could find stuff like this when I clean up around my house!!!!!!

  • I don't think it ever sold. Dweezil did a poor job of putting it back together. He had the original neck, pickups & pickguard The pots& switch could have been restored. The pickups rewound. In that condition it could bring a million.

  • the guitar sold for about half a million. it was thought to sell for a million, but didn't

  • he would have had to change it cause the pickups and pots, knobs etc. would have been melted in

  • im colse to cry

  • announcer: "... stratOHcaster..."

  • the brits pronounce english the way they created it.lets all take a lesson from them. They own english and owned america for a time! Whites altered the language and blacks and inner city white trash stained it permanantly ("Weez burnin dat sucka up"!)

  • did he actually sell it because on the guitar world interview he had it in the UMRK

  • I will offer my first born son as a down payment for that guitar..................and i'll chuck my hagged out toothless wife in for free.............deal?

  • He changed the Pickguard???

  • @Leonardoo69 it was probably torched beyond use anyway, if im not mistaken jimi squirted lighter fluid directly onto the pickguard, which probably melted.

  • that strat plays so well. i cant belive it the newer strats have lost quality. Maybe i just need to shell out a 1000$ for an american made one. I bought a 2001 strat for 550$ and its no where as good as that one. I cant do that fast finger tapping because the humbuckers arnt that good.

  • OMG!! I'm nearly crying! lol, that body is the 1961 sunburst strat that was played in late 196 and ealy 1967, it was black outer wth brown and yellow towards the middle, now look at the bloody state of it! That's the one that was played in the marquee club. well i hope i'm right or i've just mad a real fool of myself! Miss that guitar so much.... and jimi.... R.I.P

  • How the hell is it a 22 fret? Is only the body and maybe some of the electronics original?

  • Only the body is original, there is a video of dweezil talking about it (In the Studio with... Dweezil Zappa) right at the end.

  • because the neck is a remplacement of the original

  • that's pretty hilarious that one of the most iconic guitars ever was just sitting in pieces under a stairway. oh frank zappa, how you baffle me.

  • ahaha

  • strat-O-caster

  • he really put emphasis on the "o" in stratocaster

  • looks like it was restored a bit innaccurately.... lol.

    waaaay to go.

  • Stupid people are breeding.

Then they post shit on you tube.

This is the real deal. Educate yourself.

  • Epic pronunciation of the word Stratocaster.

  • @HighZombiesRule "strat - eau - caaster"

  • @HighZombiesRule +and of the name: "ZEppa"!

  • @HighZombiesRule AHAHAH

  • The Hendrix guitar owned by Dweezil was indeed burned at the Miami Pop Festival in 1968. There was no video footage of it, though, so the people putting this clip together just used the footage from Monterey in 1967.

  • zappa played that night also???

  • Do you think Hendrix only ever torched just that one guitar?

  • jimi made it his show ender for a while afterwards. He also did it at Atlanta Pop Festival and Miami. it got so popular, that he trashed guitars nearly every show for the rest of that tour, until it got to be expected of him, then he stopped doing it all together.

  • I love the way people are giving me thumbs-downst. How hard is it to understand, Hendrix took a RIGHT-HANDED guitar, turned it UPSIDE-DOWN and restrung it LEFTY. With it being a RIGHT-HANDED guitar, the neck would, of course, be RIGHT-HANDED. The neck on the guitar now is a LEFT-HANDED neck, therefore the neck has been replaced. *face-motherfuckin'-palm*

  • idk kniw wat t the fuck u just said bt u just blew my mind man

  • Wow. Owned :P

  • Exactly, what's your point?

  • dumb.

  • "FAIL"??? You're a dork.

  • is an honor play in this guitar dude *-*

  • miami rock festival?? I thought the monterey pop festival was where he torched the guitar???

  • i know dude tat is bull shit

  • He set a blaze two guitars in his time so it's possible those were the two festivals...

  • so how much did it sell for?

  • i read somewhere that it fetched a nice half million dollars for charity.

  • "An electric guitar"

    Epic intro
