  • Why do people even put this you tube because you can't see or hear it very very stupid

  • This is a wonderful tune about the power of love and redemption. Not only that, it has a great hook, wonderful chorus and pretty nice lyrics.

  • I never knew that 'sweet cherry wine' was his metaphor for the blood of Jesus Christ. Awesome song.

  • Ya know, I’m a big Tommy James fan and I remember when I bought this song on 45, I had to retune it three times because it skipped at the same spot. Eventually I gave up on it. Bad pressing of the record I guess. I did recently find my original 45 on Mony Mony after reading Tommy’s book.. What do you think it is worth? I can even tell you where I bought it, at Woolworth’s on Harlem in Chicago…I thought the name was “Bony Bony”…bad AM radio . And I did get to see him live in 74

  • Wow....2008...they still sounds great...Have always, always loved this song! And Tommy James! How I wish that groups like this would still tour...and advertise, so we would know. Would give up anything to see them! Good for you golobos2! Now you know that music "back in the day" was awesome!!!!

  • Tommy relied heavily on electronic sound effects when he wrote these songs. We expect that same sound. They do lose some impact when he just sings them straight.

  • This song popped in my head after hearing Baby Cherry was born

  • lethalstang what a classic moron you must truly be............dr dre and m&m plain or peanut? give me a break

  • @almrcn4

lethal gave 2 examples of rap crap garbage noise pollution w/no voice range or singing ability.

Tommy grew up in an industry where you had to make is strictly on talent & voice. At age 63, he sure has a loyal following.

Much of the shallow junk on CD today is all based on image, showing off a naval & acting all tough....most of today's music should be flushed down a karaoke toilet bowl

    LONG LIVE TOMMY JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @USMCLoneWolf1 well said .....but dont be so hard on the karaoke part....i like singing old tommy james songs

  • I wish he'd come to Portland, Oregon!!

  • @LethalStang187

    Idiot

  • @epi04custom terrible musician

  • @LethalStang187 LMFAO, you moron, prolly wouldn't tell a good song from popcorn fart

  • @LethalStang187 Now theres two great examples of fine music. NOOOTTTTT1

  • Fantastic song Tommy!!!!!! Keep them coming!!!!!! when are coming down under?

  • I can't wait to see him at the Keswick in May.

  • Where's Keswick?

  • It's in Glenside Pa., just outside of Philadelphia.

  • You sound awesome Tommy keep it up and I hope you come near Chicago I want to go see you play. God Bless you richly!!!! Ken

  • I love the guy and his music,,, but his playing is off key in some parts... little too cavalier there at the end.

But how did he keep all his hair? low chuckles..

  • I am 18 and I have had the plessure of seeing tommy 3 times and meeting him 2 times. he is my favorite artist of all time. He is as good as it gets. He sounds the same as he did in the 1960's. Great song to

  • such a happy time in music history....thank you tommy......i was there

  • such a great song, squared!!

  • Such a GREAT song!!!!!!!!

  • Thank God I got to listen to his music growing up.

  • Me too.

  • he disfrutado mucho el video, gracias; es una de las grandes y creativas bandas de los sesenta, una maravilla

  • As Tommy said " keep looking up Jesus is coming" Ron

  • Hi Dale! Ron

  • Tommy James's songs really summed up the mood in the late 60's and showed where we were heading in the early 70's. Singers like Tommy and John Fogerty did it without pandering or sounding petty. Tommy was one of a few acts that seamlessly crossed the barrier between the AM and FM radio dial. Defintely one of the class acts of the 60's and still sounds great. Hearing Sweet Cherry Wine reminds me of the bonfires at night in the park and passing around a bottle of wine in the summer of 1969.

  • He crossed it 5 times between 1963 - 1971

  • @terryorr ...Yah it sure does...those memories of innocent and common pleasures of just sitting, talkin' and just enjoying the music or the wine and well sometimes the hooch but the friends and times were what was just so kewl...in fact... memories never ending....how did such times ever happen for so many everywhere??

  • @marieje09 I do not know, but I think we all come here to learn all of us loved this music and have wonderful memories of just sitting around passing the wine, enjoying the for me the summers of 69-72 were my best times... such great times...when friends were real, music was, and American had it problems but nothing like today.. we will never see the likes of those times again.

  • @terryorr

couldn't have said it better..most people I knew really liked his stuff..Black, white, Latin, Asian cats I knew all loved this stuff..I remember drinking Red Mountain to this song, many times..

  • @terryorr I sat next to John Fogerty in the Burbank airport in 2004. He was with his wife and two children. We got on the same plane headed for Phoenix. He and his family sat in coach.

  • @catholicpriest1 do you speak with him or get autographs

  • To save us, He gave us...Sweet Cherry Wine (the blood of Jesus). A protest song, and a boldly spiritual song at the same time. And one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

I love Tommy James music! Dale Smith

  • Thank you Tommy James for all your great music! You are a great human being too! Ron

  • Hi Ron! Dale

  • This is an outstanding song that never gets the acclaim it should. It was a song of 1969 that went on and on. Tommy James can still sing it well!

  • By 1973 to get out of the Roulette Genovese Moishie control he sold his publishing to Morris...it cost him millions. Indio golf course, geez.

  • I love this song. One of the most underrated performers. This song has a great message. "Love's the only thing that matters, anyhow."

  • This is one of the greatest protest songs of all time. Tommy you still sound great. Peace.
