Just watched the Mariposa Album and this one... I think YOU have definitely become my favorite! The albums are beautiful and you make it look so easy. I have wanted to do a paperbag mini for a looooooong time, but didn't love the little "flap page". That you have incorporated a tag-book pocket in that space makes alll the difference. I just hope that mine turns out 1/2 as beautiful as yours!
@TJtheNonna Hi! Thanks so much for the nice comments. I hope you have fun creating your paper bag album. I also have another video tutorial for constructing a modified paper bag album which also takes care of the "flap page". Glad you're enjoying the videos! :)
@Ammiel7 These yellow bags are the regular paper bags that they sell at Michaels. The flap just looks small because it's folded in half, on either side, rather than the way it comes in the package. Hope that makes sense. I have a video from June 2010 called Mariposa Paper Bag Album where I show how I folded the flaps on the bags. :)
I love love love this album. I would also love to know how you made the cover. I love that its a chipboard cover. Just curious about the spine of it. Thank you so much for sharing this. Both the baby album and Mariposa are stunning! I'm definitely going to use these ideas for my Baby girl book :)
That is so cool and pretty! Are you an engineer by trade? LOL I'm a bit worried about ribbon holding up and getting frayed while being handled over time, although I have little experience so I may be way off base with that worry. Maybe this could be done with jute or chain instead of ribbon.
@cjucoder Thanks! The ends of the ribbon could possibly get a little frayed over time. I use a product called fray check which really helps to keep the ends of the ribbon from getting tattered. You definitely could use jute or really anything that will fit through the eyelet twice though =)
@kathleenin I am working on another book that has a similar type of cover and I would be more than happy to show you how to assemble it. I can do a video when I get to the cover of the book. The cover is not identical to this but the assembly is pretty much the same =)
Thanks so much for doing this tutorial. It is a great way to bind a mini. I love that it expands to hold everything. Now, I can't wait to see the baby mini when it is done. Looks so cute.
@Dsscrapie This binding technique has really worked out well for me when I'm not sure how thick the final book will be. Hope you're able to try it out sometime!

Love it! Would you mind teaching us how to make the cover? Do you cut the pieces separately? If so, how do you attach the front/back to the spine?
