  • What brand makes good guitars at 300 dollars that he mentions?

  • interviewer reminds me of christopher walken

  • @ga2lic Thanks bro, that is definitely a compliment because Christopher Walken is cool!

  • Wish the music on Triumph's "Edge of Excess" album was better because Phil's riffs rivaled Rik Emmett's. He is just as good a guitarist, which is saying something!

  • when does he talk about the tonemaster?

  • wow i didnt know about the pickup thing, now i feel like getting rid of my neck pickup since i dont use it

  • my defenition for music = PHIL X

  • I don't believe that you ever had a cameraman loser...

  • this is representitive of today's talent. This NOBODY POS is a YouTube hero. He's real impressed with himself. McDonalds employee at best

  • @thecarlfia56 How many McDonalds employees can play guitar as well as he can, get asked to fill on for a successful band like Bon Jovi and have a respected CV as a session musician?

Probably none of them. I think the nobody here is you.

  • @thecarlfia56 What the fuck are you talking about? Go look on Philx dot Tv and check his discography. He's been on more Albums than Bob Dylan. You probably have an album with him on in your house. He's a big time session player and he's so fucking humble. Good thing he works at Mcdonalds. Someone obviously needs to do their research before talking outta their asshole.

  • This is a great interview, Phil X is actually a really interesting guy!

  • Phil x you are a true YouTube hero. Love the fretted America vids. Keep rocking Phil, from England.

  • Alison Krauss Phil. and holy shit i can't believe you mixed that record.

  • @sebsoriano19 I think Phil is saying that he took a record he mixed to the person who worked on the Plant/Krauss record...

  • IT'S NOT TV LAND IT'S YOUTUBE LAND! just joking, phill you're awesome, your enthusiasm is through the roof and you rip it on those super expensive guitars like you don't give a crap, watching you jam out and go crazy is hilarious! keep rockin bro! :D

  • Yo Phil her name is Allison Krauss, she has the most amazing voice ever!

  • I have so many reasons to thank Phil, but here's number one: Rare Earth Live. Just took delivery, in Australia, from a guy in Hollywood, of an original vinyl album, knackered gatefold but all original and it is the bloody nuts! How did I get into Rare Earth? Phil X rocking 'I Just Want To Celebrate' in one of his Fretted Americana vids. Good music is out there people, good on you Phil, keep on doing what you do mate.

  • Great guy, thanks for the interview.

  • i think he thinks of alison krauss

  • @TheLowermen What is the "fuck you" for? Fuck you too and the horse you rode in on!!! Dude, don't forget to take your pills in the morning... Peace!

  • @Werewolfpatguitars its not his fault he is a lower man lol

  • can anyone enlighten me on what pickups he says he uses right at the end?

it sounds like he says something like Lou Uppard pickup, around 11:55 mins in.

  • @paddingtonfrisk It is Lollar pickups, the guy's name is Jason Lollar, Google Lollar pickups... It is one of many companies that makes pickups! Very hard to make up your mind when you have so much to choose from!

  • @paddingtonfrisk What he say's is "low output pickups" But yes he is using Lollar pickups..:)

  • @paddingtonfrisk i said "low output" pickups. right now my favorite P90 style retrofit is a Gibson P94 but i've been getting some amazing humbuckers from Arcane pickups. i don't use lollar pickups... i just said i should call that guy. glad you liked the interview. sorry i mumble sometimes. hahaha

  • @paddingtonfrisk

he says "low output" pickups, not Lollar.

  • @dmchau777 He actually mentions a company called lollar about a minute or two before that. It's right before he mentions "arcane."

  • Moving to San Diego in September, Can't wait to see Phil X Live!

  • IM FAN OF PHIL AND FAN OF THE DRILLS

  • at 5:20 to 5:50 Phill is totally true, especially for beginners I think, if u play bad at first night in ur club or school wherever u re fired, nobody´s gonna give you another chance.

  • lucky guy

  • Thank you from my side, great to know more about my big idol :D

  • try 'steffsen' pickups (especially the humbuckers) it's a man from Belgium who makes the pickups to your specifications, made with techniques from the 50's. They are amazing pickups because he's got vintage gibsons as a reference to make new pickups.

steffsen.be, check it out Phil, you won't be dissapointed!

  • Try the Klein P-90 4 I'm sure he will send you one to try out.

  • Haha you're like Christopher Walken doing a Schwarzenegger impression! you're the man!

  • if you're looking for new pups you may wanna check out some lindy fralin pups... I built a strat and for my middle pup i used the fralin split blad which is a single coil humbucking pup and it is AMAZING... Im sure his p90s are sweet too

  • he is like a modern jimmy page doing the whole session thing!

  • You put the jizz on there and move the thing around. XD

  • Her name was Alison Krauss she did that album with Robert Plant.

  • Phil X <---- HE'S THE MAN!!!

  • 100 % agree with you!!!LOVE P90 coils ,especially old ones in Jr's,there's no cool sounds than theirs!!!!

  • phil would have a lava lamp. lol

  • Ola amigo, I don't know the answer to your question, you must ask Phil directly, he is very cool so I trust he will answer your question... Happy New Year 2011!

  • hey phil i'm from argentinaa

wich radio spot have you made??

you fucking rock man im your huege fan

  • Yeah i think it is Dillion guitars, thanks for the correction. I never knew about them myself, another nice hint by Phil.

  • It could also be Dillion guitars, they do make reproductions of Les Paul, Strats etc... Hard to believe they didn't get sued and put out of business! They even have imitations of Rickenbacker guitars! dillionguitars(dot com)/guitar/electric/

I have heard they are quite good but I never saw one personally... by the way, Phil X is as cool in person as he is on videos! Merry Christmas to all!

  • 8:55 - Devlin Guitars.

  • 6:30 - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand album, T-Bone Burnett album's producer. Merry Christmas and all the very best for the new year Phil.

  • Great interview with Phil X! This guy is the man. What was that guitar brand Phil X mentions on 8:48?
