  • what kind of martial art did u learn

  • @sreedev20 I've dabbled in a few. The first person I learned from was my older brother (Kali, Escrima, JKD). When I got into a school, I learned Kempo, Shotokan, Kickboxing, and a few different arts.

  • your right middle knuckle, you either poped it or did some serious damage to it?

  • @toughguy2040 Nope. Just training against walls on a gradual progression.

  • contra movements

  • This is a Good way to practice. Loose muscles react faster than tight muscles. The reason practicing motion slower for speed is that you are conditioning you mind to be comfortable so that opposing muscle groups don’t tighten up and slow you down. You can actually program your muscle memory through repeated consistent motion. Keep in mind there is NO POWER without bone structure so make sure everything lines up. I like this video because the contributor addresses intensity. Kudos!

  • I want to train for really fast punches specifically right now, should I be doing slow steady push-ups or quick/explosive knuckle push-ups? Or both? I know everyone has different body types but figured I would ask since yours is somewhat similar to mine.

  • @MartyBlois You should be doing both. The slow, tensed motions build up muscle endurance so you don't injure yourself when doing the high-speed, explosive punches. You train muscle endurance so you can last longer. What good are fast punches if you can only throw only a few of them at full speed before slowing down? There are plenty of other training ideas out there (i.e. resistance bands). Try looking into them and trying them out! I Hope this helps.

  • @SykoDragon but see i dont beleve in weights or bands on the legs because just because there is tension doesnt mean you will go faster, and plus if you start packin the muscle its not going to make you faster, your gonna get slower, so i think you should always punch explosive but you have to make sure there is no fatigue they must have rest in between reps

  • @xXMiniMyaXx It doesn't matter if you believe in weights or bands or not, they work! Bands work more effectively because they create resistance between both contraction and extension, which also helps with training fast-twitch muscles good for speed. Weights are only good if you can perform 7-15 reps (which is well above reps for building bulk, 2-5) and it won't slow you down. Do your research first before responding. It's Science, not just what you think works or not.

  • I loved it. Thank you so much for posting. i GREATLY appreciate it. im getting back into martial arts, and im working on speed. thank you so much, very informative, and you had a very laid back way of talking which made it enjoyable. i look forward to any new videos

  • It's always so funny to hear people's comments about someone they really have no clue about. Not to mention that this was filmed 3 years ago. If you can't take hold of the content, then move on- my teaching style does not match your learning style. You want more enthusiasm? Go watch Tae Bo or any other commercialized Martial Art. I'm not here to stroke your interest, I am here to spread the Art.

  • what kind of martial art do you do

  • aam... ammm.... ammmmmm...... :D combinations speeds other name is: Explosive speed. Lol. Use brains. Noth work with same speed. U just do a different thing. if u punch 2 times u still punch and dont kick. same thing. argh.... If u talk about combination speed and explosive speed.. i just making what is simple to not simple and complicated. Just like the ego likes it ;)

  • @Sheikkailija To clarify: No, explosive speed is not the same as combination speed. Combination speed is flowing, explosive speed is acceleration from a standstill. It is the difference between a sprinting race and an endurance race. Maybe you should study a bit more on physiology and anatomy and the effects of training first to understand the different uses of the muscle. They are trained differently- the same in Martial ARts.

  • @SykoDragon Like i said: Just how ego likes it. Complicated. But they are the same when u understand they are the same and when u learn to combine them.

    Peace.

    Learn, Know, LIVE!

  • @Sheikkailija A 100-meter dash runner does not train the same way as a marathon runner. Some avenues cross, but they are on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to muscle usage. If you're talking about the importance of both to combine both of them into one, then yes, that was the whole point I was making- but you have to understand that they do lie on opposite sides of the spectrum and are therefore trained differently to obtain a balance.

  • @SykoDragon thats pidy smart

  • @Sheikkailija @SykoDragon but see i dont beleve in weights or bands on the legs because just because there is tension doesnt mean you will go faster, and plus if you start packin the muscle its not going to make you faster, your gonna get slower, so i think you should always punch explosive but you have to make sure there is no fatigue they must have rest in between reps

  • Thanks. Useful. I'll check the rest of it later.

  • he knows what he's saying, but he seems to be a bit out of shape, especially in comparison to how he probably was before..xD

    gotta get back to it!!

  • That´s kind of stupid video

  • Do you do Wing Chun? You look like doing it. I don't do it myself, but when I was choosing my martial art, I was very interesed in wing chun.

    Very nice vid!

  • thnx

  • Different!

  • Contrary to popular sentiment, I totally dig the chill attitude, it's much more conducive to actually understanding the concepts, although I sometimes had to rewatch portions 'cause I was drifting off into thought...

  • lmao

  • I just absolutely could not watch all of this... can't pay attention to him, he has zero enthusiasm. I found my self just skipping through more then half the thing trying to see what he's doing.

  • Too boring......fell asleep after 2 mins

  • this guy is wright. it's good advice

  • whats this dude age?

hes not a master. ! i can tell

  • don't matter at a certain rank u can teach no matter what

  • lol when i was 10 i used to teach about 40 to 50 students now i am 20 and i am still teaching.. but its more like 70 ppl.. age doesnt matter... the yonuger u start the more expearence u have!

  • yes in america it dont take much to be a black belt. they give u 1 just 4 paying your mouthly fees. also in america u can teach ppl older then u. not so much in other counrty.any way in my opinion u dont know anythink about speed.second u look soft.i could teach u !but good luck 2 u anyway young buck

  • wow that sucks they just give it away i worked hard to earn my black belt really trained my ass off and my test was to fast for 5 days only water stare at a dot on the wall for 3 hours for concentration and spar 30 ppl for 2 min each then after that my patterns my kicks my combos my blocks my self defence and of course board breaking by the time i was finished my test i was half dead but i know i earned my belt i trained/taught 6 hours a day for 4 years so being given a belt was not an option!

  • that is very true and it's been months since i seen a wise answer such as yours on youtube (= thumbs up from me

  • very nice vid 5*

  • nice vid sykodragon ;)

  • yeah or just eat every day steroids like a lesnar

  • lol....

  • i was sarcastic and one more thing don't call me stupid if u think steroids don't give u speed read about disqualification on Olympic events runners Ben Johnson 100 m Seoul 1988 9,79 Dwain Chambers 100 m Tour de France 2006 Ivan Basso , Jan Ulrich and many many more so before u call somebody names check your intellect bitch

  • are steroids making faster?

  • yes there is some steroids selected for runners or cyclist look on runners from Kenya they slim they have good results and they more natural now check American runners legs like horses u thinking its because training and eating spinach ;)

  • nice video bud, one comment on you video to gain faster speed and fluidity you need to built elasticity in your muscles as well as strength a little toy rather then someone pushing your fist back is "Spring Chest Expander" total of 5 springs. There is different motion and exercises you can do to built speed and elasticity rather then too much strength and tighter but shorter muscles. You can start low 1-2 springs beginner and work your way up to 5 sprigs increasing endurance and speed, cheers

  • Great Video m8 amazin speed

  • dude your first intensity demo fucken suprised me thanx for the vid it will help me

  • What did you do when training to have such control over your kicks *7.24*

Any tips would be great, or if you already have a video that touches on it =]

    Thanks

  • good movie. That is why boxing is easier to learn: only three moves in English boxing.

  • Thanks for posting these new ideas this is awsome.

  • you CAN get faster but elite speed is god given.

  • anything can be worked for

  • If you believe that then you will always limit yourself. Nothing in life is definite. You can be come an elite speedster.

  • Nice Video. Good information be it new or a reminder of how to train.

  • I like it real good video.

Take a look at this new speed training device called the (moran speed tracker) the video is on you tube.

  • I didnt go into it in this video but believe I had in others (they were all filmed in 1 night) was that the order in which you should train is Accuracy, Speed, and Power. I had only touched upon correct technique in slow training but that does not mean to assume that I neglect it completely. Technique isnt everything but plays a major role. You can have perfect technique but no accuracy on application or no power- this obviously excludes technique in the sense of tech of power or tech of speed.

  • you have very good control and balance over your body, thanks for posting this

  • Well, speed gives you attack more power. What you need to think about is how good your technique is because that is everything. So work on your technique because without that speed is nothing.

  • what is the best way to give it more power? cause some people lose power for speed. thank you

  • psycho dude, ur gud - infact i am a brown belt in JKA and i agree wit evry single point u had to say. most of these armchair martial artist have never seen actual combat or trained proper, they r the ones dreamin. Bunch of rejects and sore losers if you ask me. keep up the gud work

  • thanks for making the video great stuff I can really use for my strengh training and speed training even though I am not a martial artist.

  • NICE! I think that I have good explosive speed =D but not as good as you.. haha!

  • you dont look much like a psycho dragon... more like... and angry asian haha. awesome video man

  • Some good tips & content

    Nice one

  • I always forget to mention how there are different ways of training, and these videos are just one way that I have trained. I like variety, and being able to change one's own way of training/application of something is more useful than doing it in only one way. It helps with becoming Adaptable to any situation.

  • great stuff! Can you make more martial art tutorial vids??

  • that word is 'momentum' that you are looking for, isnt it :) well done. im impressed. this will help me in my training.

  • good video bud. definetly does the trick. gotta love the ass clowns hating on your research though. bet theyve never seen the inside of a training facility.

  • Great job!

  • I practise karate ...that could help

  • cool video, thanks for the tips

  • wow, dont hit the camera at 8:15. like blah@@

  • I don't see what everyone is bitching about. This is a good video. I like the part about intensity. That's one of the things I've been trying to master in my boxing. Good video, mate.

  • Wow, I'm so Happy that people have such open minds and have actually taken the time to TRY the training as much as I used to go through all of this crap. Not to mention all the studying and research I did on my own and in class. Granted, you all must be MASTERMINDS when it comes to training, I'm sure. So, please enlighten me with your oh so great wisdom since I've done nothing but improve on myself without injury. Hmmm...

  • hmm I'd like to says that I didn't watch the video.. I'll watch it after my comments but I think that I know what you mean... these people say that it wouldn't work on the street but the fact is that it's a speed training... it's for aquiring speed not to useon the street... 2 different thing... am I right?

  • Thanks for these tips. Now I know that these are the tips that I should not do.

  • Dude hopefully you are not a black belt giving out these wack ass instructions! That wouldn't say much about your school! Your blocks and fighting stance will not work in the streets.

  • Do ya kno that u really act & sounds like an idiot!!!

please get some martial arts book or enrol to any karate institute LEARN something...before u posting any vid!!!

  • this vid sucks donkey balls go read a bruce lee book and learn sumthin

  • ok, ya'll seriously, not every type of fighting, is karate, if ur gonna start talkin crap, learn about other martial arts first, and yea, american karate is the worst type of fighting out there

  • oh yes american form of any martial art is the worst type of fighting

  • what about wrestling you fool. Is that not an american form of an ancient martial art? Aren't american wrestlers dominating the ufc?

  • No. Those are athletes that can handle boxing, muay thai (?), take-downs (read Judo, BJJ) and submission wrestling (read BJJ and perhaps sambo). What you call wrestling is pure pre-choreographed shit to me..

  • I'm not talking about "professional wrestling." I'm talking about collegiate, greco-roman, freestyle and folk wrestling. All of those styles are very popular in America. Some of the best wrestlers are American. Yes the athletes in UFC cross-train, but my point was that many of them have their foundation in American wrestling. Wrestling is a necessity in training MMA. Even the bjj-trained wrestlers use their wrestling skills to maintain dominance and control over their opponent.

  • no, its called greko roman, not american haha, Plus, the ufc rules are designed to help a grappler, its a loophole that they fill nicely. Its also not a martial art, nothing art about it, the best amature wrestling is known as just sloppy ju jitsu. I like watching guys who are good at it, but its not american OR a martial art, just a sport

  • THanks 4 the tips thats what i needed to to to be better at speed and power

  • no offense to any1 but american karate is HORRIBLE

  • this isn't american karate. this is barely karate at all.

  • Yah sorry about being ignorant there. I don't like disrespecting any martial arts or artists any more.

  • Great instruction..thanks for posting

  • 2 bad

  • damnt kungfu master alredy

  • good job!

  • I think that his martial art is Kung-fu, isn't it ?

  • nope thats karate

  • that's not karate.

  • These training tips of yours are interesting. i would like to see the results of your training posted on youtube one day if possible.

  • Dude (^^) i also practice Martial Arts teh we need to talk

  • These are great tips..I play Table Tennis and Fencing and these tips will help greatly. Don't let the Youtube "Scorn-Mopes" discourage you from more videos.

  • wow your gay and your a fucking eggroll go get a life

  • Damn man LQQKS like you can kick some ass.

  • that was a great video thanx, next time please just be a bit clear

  • Interesting, I also train and some of the little Exercises are new to me, lol good work

  • Half of these people simply can't listen to what you're actually saying, these are good tips, keep up the work and I'd like to see more training tips from you

  • hey i really appreciate your video

  • you have no carisma

  • you didnt mention, to be quicker you have to maintain a sleepy sense of state in the mind...

  • excellent excellent thank you Mr Dragon

  • LOL "intensity is not uh bah,... its YAA BYAHH!!"

  • good tut

  • dude teach me more i wana learn

  • Wow you are really good. Thanks!

  • Great upload keep doing ja thing I like it a lot.

I would like to do the samething.

  • Very helpful. Thanks for the post!

  • Building up to my speed, exactly. I wasn't use to punching, I was more into doing roundhouses and axe kicks. But my friend was like, use your fists, your legs won't get you anywhere far. And I started throwing punches at my max speed, I can probably throw 9-10 punches within 2 secs now xD

  • no you cant ho

  • Speed tips were ok but it sounds like he doesn't know what hes talking about. "You would have to go into one with another and.. whatever" Real professionals don't use whatever. Atleast act like you know. Thats what i think hes doing, but he's not a good actor.

  • HAHA!! Well, you take it as you will...I say "whatever" so I wouldn't have to add to the already long-windedness of the video...

Believe what you will...but Thanks for the comment, I guess! HAHAHAHAHA!!

  • haha alright. I didn't mean to make fun of you, but is didn't sound like you no what your talking about. But I guess you do, nice stuff.

  • Thanx for the video man. What martial arts do you train in?

Also good speed tips are: -Reaction speed(for counterattacks) -Withdrawal speed(get back to guard position)

Im not discrediting you or anything just providing extra information for people interested. Thanks for the tips.Keep up the training.

  • Very nice my friend :D

Thank you for the Tai chi refrence I am always catching grief :P

check out my video speed tip

  • very very inspiring, i like your little intensity psycho! LOl
