Qbert's scratch on Rapper's Delight is probably one of the best freestyle scratches i've ever heard. It's like a perfect mix. His scratch "raps" for him on the beat.
In q-bert's studio they don't use vinyl to create the playing beat, but wrather hook all mixers up to one mixers output and play midi or mp3 files through the midi controller and scratch over them with vinyl.
That way, when there is 10 dj's in his studio, they all have control over the playing track, and not just the DJ who is actually playing the vinyl on his platter.
all yall are wrong...about the beat, that song is called "goodtimes" which was sampled by sugar hill gang..check it!"Good Times" is a 1979 song composed by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. It was first recorded by their band Chic..
Actually the first song is rappers delight by the sugar hill gang! If you don't know about the sugar hill gang you should kill yourself. Or just kill yourself for mistaking that for grandmaster flash!
both sugarhill gang and grandmaster flash sampled this grandmaster flash used it for grandmaster flash and the wheels of steel but the version he is using is the chic 1979 hit good times
I liked it up to the part when the guy started rping about how he was like a pimp. Oh, then laugh it off and play it cool. So used so stupid. Right in front of his kids.
Yeah as far as the new age DJ's go. I love Q-bert & all of the guys of his ilk for their contributions they've made as far as advancing the "technical" aspect of the art, but their sets are just that.."technical". It's all technique & no soul..
No, it means I prefer those that can combine the two. Now get ya panties out of a bunch & stop being so damn sensitive. After all, I made a comment regarding Q-bert's style, not u. What r u, one of those "stan" fans that eminem refers to?
PLEASE DONT READ THIS! In 1997 a girl called lauren was walikng in a forest and then a she just dissapeared no one ever found her untill 2000 when a yoing girl called Mary found her body and markings on her chest saying: I wasnt pretty enough" and now you have read this she will appear in your mirror saying your not pretty enough and kill you. by the way the girl called mary died shortly after.

This is all either edit or he's the twin of the girl in the well from the RING that lags like sht. I see you man, I see that evil in your eyes. You can tell its edit cause how his movements look.
I've always considered them to be turntable geniouses. I still got some of the old DMC videos on VHS. Qbert has always been one of my favorites along with Rectangle
"But I'll give you some advice, if your looking at trying to make it big, don't go around saying that freely cause you will be dis-credited on the spot. - no matter how good you are. "
anyone who discredits you on that basis is a fool. judge the music for what it is and what it does for YOU.
First of all when did I say flare used a rane product? yeah that's right nowhere...wtf are you smoking? and I never said that Rane, Vestax, and Serato weren't good products you just assumed I thought that way cuz you're an asshole.
First of all when did I say flare used a rane product? yeah that's right nowhere...wtf are you smoking? and I never said that Rane, Vestax, and Serato weren't good products you just assumed I thought that way cuz you're an asshole.
Be original, don't bite Q's material, you'll be respected more for that, there's plenty of stuff you can use out there (I'm sure you've found while looking), just some sound advice from a veteran dj. Hip Hop Don't Stop!
i don't know if you cats caught what qbert was doing with his scratching style in the beginning of this vid. the scratches were in the style of the vocal to the actual song
Teh2Noob....tell you what I wouldn't mind using Vestax , Rane mixers or scratch live and getting paid for it or not getting paid for it for that matter
Not saying that their products aren't the best, just finding it funny how everyone uses their sponsor's stuff. How come everyone on youtube is on the offensive all the time?
well the main reason is i just dont like 80s poppy eastcoast style hip hop. i like raw westcoast hip hop. you know, heavy dirty beats, deep rhymes, but yeah maybe i wont be sayin that too much...
k the flash didnt invent scratchin, grand wizzard theodore did. and yes the flash is a pioneer, but i still dont like his music. Just like i dont like RUN DMC, but i know they were one of the greatest rap bands on planet earth. not EVERYBODYS gonna like his music
Funny how every DJ has to use what their sponsors tell them to. For example Qbert has to use vestax, Flash has his Rane mixer, and Jazzy Jeff has to use Scratch live... it's crazy what money does to you.
Jazzy Jeff used to use scratch live before they even had him on the serato site. Rane + serato is the best invention next to the turntable. Most high profile dj's use it regardless. Vestax used to be the best scratch mixer out there until rane came out wither they magnetic faders.
Serato Scratch LIve does not pay to have DJ's endorse their product, so when you see A-Trak, MixMasterMike, Z-Trip, Jazzy Jeff, Rob Swift, and the legions of other dj's using it, remember that they are doing so by choice.
QBert probably really enjoys using Vestax gear, seeing how he has been instrumental for a lot of the product development they have done over the past decade, beginning with the 05 pro mixer, the PDX line of turntables, the 06, the 07, and the QFO.
good video but how can you be a dj and not have enough respect to not even waste your time posting that you dont like grandmaster flash thats like somebody black saying i dont like harriet tubman marcus garvey and martin luther king ..... learn some respect for the people that have made the way for you to be even to look at a turntable
