  • Ya that's my teacher use to do he put his hand in my back and put the other one to the. Feet

  • how do u call the thing that they use at 1:07?

  • Anyone know how to get over your fear of doing it alone? My coach doesn't spot me, she just has to be there in for me to do it. Icant do it unless she's there

  • Are people seriously complaining because it's "boring"? It's not suppose to excite you, you're supposed to learn from it.

  • @tweetybird234 Thanks for your comments.. I only have 1,172 videos directored by one of the leading gymnastics instructors in the United States Mr. Roberto Pumpido, who gave his life to the sport. Unfortunately he lost his life 2 years ago to a battle with cancer. Anyway this is his legacy and he always told me some people are never satisfied. Anyway, I do appreciate you nice comments.

  • the girl's is pretty but the way she sets is wrong. that could lead to some problems.

  • when doing a backhandspring you should do your best not to lean forward.

also, you should sit back as if you were going to sit in a chair. your knees should NOT be over your feet, as that forces a large arch (also called undercutting) which can be very hard on the wrists.

  • when i was learning my coach told me not to lean forward before jumping backwards..

you know when you first begin to swing your arms,, she made me have my body as if i was sitting on a invisible chair..

    get what i mean?

idk if this technique would help me :O

    i undercut :/

  • @mlbm13 my coach told me not to lean forwards too. but all the gymnasts do when they do backhandsprings. i dont get it

  • XD Same! But I got my back walkover today :P

  • yeah i learned mine today too(: well i had it then i couldnt do it but i got it again

  • Do you have to know how to do a back walkover before you learn a back handspring ?

  • lol im learning my back walkover first than im gonna do the backflip

*my opinion it'll be easier after

    you get the backwalkover

  • im realllly close maybe this willl help

  • haha why should i learn from you,you cant even spell beginner

  • wow,i think the back hand spring is more challenging then the front hand srping

  • i didt listen to a word u sed coz u could put coffee to sleep i just watched. why not put a bit more happiness into your talk :o

  • ughhh i can never get this!! its sooo frustrating

  • it really is :/

  • so with me

  • What one is easiest? back or front handspring

  • front is like 100 times easier...

  • @ALEXw0z3r3 going back is easier than going front

  • @3920962 lol I can do forward but im too freaked out to try a back handspring :/

  • @d4lawlbot i just got my bhs yesterday am happy

  • @3920962 i no rite I tried the front one and I fell on my back but I was on something soft so it did not hurt.

  • @SarahS45261 i didnt i landed front handspring i masterd it

  • @ALEXw0z3r3 ikr!

  • @ALEXw0z3r3 agreed!

  • @ALEXw0z3r3 I did a front on floor just thinking about how i could do it. Back handspring = fail for me though. XD

  • @21peepole21 lol :P

  • @ALEXw0z3r3 not if u know how 2 do a back hand spring duh

  • it depends who you are, in my opinion back is way easier, your back is not naturally supposed to bend that way , there for your body follows and makes its own momentum and for a front handspring, it is similar, but you have to put just slightly more effort in to it

  • front is easier to learn purely cos its not as scary, people are far more liekly to just go for it cos you cant really land on your haed or face, backhandspring is easier once mastered as it doesnt require as much effort, you just more likely to hurt yourself doing it, so you've gotta do loads of drill to learn it correctly which slows down the process

  • your supposed to lean back like your going to sit down. not just bend your knees

  • Does anyone know who the name of the coach is at 0.17seconds? I saw a video he had on improving flexibility on the internet but I can't remember where it is. I really want to watch it again.

  • well apparently they can do it so its not retarded u mite wanna take note

  • ...Im not a gymnast...Im a freerunner. this video didn't hep me.

  • well this is for gymnasts, so its no wonder it didnt help you, free runners try to do it, gymnasts try to do it right.

  • this isnt the right way to do a back handspring at my gym we arent suppose to lean fowards

  • This video helped me but when i first started back handsprings i did a back bend with my feet together just like a back hand spring and then i would snap my feet over! It works if you are just starting

  • so if you can do a backwalkover it helps backhandspring?

  • thx so much you've fixed my problems

  • this is retarded

  • you aren't sposto lean foward in a back handspring if you do you can fall going into a back hadspring

  • Ahh someone please help me I am having so much trouble going into a backward handstand, because I never keep my arms locked and I fall on my head=[

  • I what way don't you keep your arms locked, not strong enough? Just collapse? don't get your arms there in time? etc... if i know how i may be able to help you =], Good luck!

  • then y dont u show 1 bubba12310

  • i can do the jump but then i bend my left arm as a safety or something. :(

  • I made it, i made it on my bed.

  • I belive that i can do it, it seems easy, but i am scared as hell to do the jump !

  • You need 1/4 skill and 3/4 confidence do to it = ), I can do frount flips and frount hand spring really well, i get to anything backwards and i hessitate lol, Best to learn this move b4 i got to backflip, You self learner or got a gym?

  • self learner :), i can do frount hand spring eather :)

  • you can or you can't? =S lol, if you can awesome!!! if you can't best luck learning! =D

  • i can, i learn it while watchin the video

  • i can do one but i kind of need some one there because im scared waht is something to make u not scared

  • Im just scared to jump back..... yikes

  • Best tutorial I have ever seen in my life!!!

    Nothing more to say...^^

  • But ONE thing you have to remember! is to look out for trees. lol :)

  • I never talk about age, but I am over 40 and just did My first real backhand springs 2 days ago. I did 7;-) It helps to get over the fear of being upside down... I started Capoeira 2 years ago, so My fear of being upside down is much less than before;-)

  • but how do you get over the fear. thats my problem.

  • I would suggest You start doing hand stands(free and against a wall) and cartwheels. After that learn the Macaco(low Capoeira backhand spring). Then just use a spotter the first times for Your backhand spring. After that, You should be able to do it no problem.

  • i have easy cartwheels and handstands. even one hand

  • mine too.. :P

  • wow....I didnt have 2 do all this...

all i had 2 do was jump back and see if i could do it.....lol

    and i could!!!

  • thankyou thankyou thankyou!

i just did my first spotted back-hand spring!!

    XD

  • fail they spelled beginner wrong

  • this is a good video, i was in gymnastics when i was younger, i was just starting to get good when i quit, probably one of the worst mistakes of my life, because its too late for me to join now.

man if i could get my hands on a barrel roll haha

  • you're only ten and you're talking like that? haha

  • im scareddd i havent done them since i was 11 and im 14 i wannna re learn!

  • where is da gymnastic center in philippines?

  • r u serious??? im going to gymnastics, and this is impossible!!

    I'm gonna die!!!!!!

  • OMG i do gymnastics , THERE CALLED FLICKS NOT FORWARD HANDSPRINGS DIVY U OVYESLY NO NOWT ABOUT GYMNASTICS!

  • Ummm... no, they're called handsprings, but your teacher probably calls them a different name. :/

  • haha, sorry i share an account with my friend, just ignore her lol, your not a divy, people call then different names and it doesnt matter tbh.

  • Haneen. They ARE called back handsprings. Remember we're from the north east ov england. we have different names 4 everything. germany calls them flick flaks. so my point is proved and tbh i think u should just keep your nasty comment to yourself!

  • This is a great way of showing how to do it. Slow motioing makes a lot of difference, to show people all the steps.

  • where the heck am i supposed to buy a barrel or 5 mats stacked on top of each other?

  • hhahahahahaha i know!!!

  • lol! haha good point.. :)

  • woow real impressive. you can roll on a barrel.
