Mr Ford was regarded as having weird long-winded speeches. You can now blame Ben Stein for this. Thank you for suggesting to do research on the matter SpeedingStudent, you've strengthened my argument quite a bit. Any more gibberish you'd like to preach about someone who's praised for saying "Beauler.... Beauler.." or "clear eyes.. is.. awesome..."
Aced his SAT with a perfect score (before it was easier), became a lawyer (at the FTC no less!), taught law at no less than four prominent universities, authored nearly 30 books, started an acting career, and wrote speeches for standing Presidents.
Yeah, that Ben Stein is such a moron. Do some reasearch before you go mouthing off, son.
Law has everything to do with human rights, constitutional rights and academic freedom. What better experience could there be to challenge the subject matter of that film. It's not trying to prove anything other than the obvious that current rules of science are being applied to foreclose one of the only two possible answers to the origin of life. What fair minded, intelligent person would not want to challenge that? Unless of course they have an ulterior agenda.
Ben Stein, or someone like him, has been listening to, or reading, the poetry of Gil Scott Heron ("The Revolution Will Not Be Televised", circa 1970, 1974, etc.) Check it out on your own Youtoob.
And also, the scientists that Ben Stein tries to martyr in his brain-damaged movie were all incompetent, some of them committed outright rules violations, and some of them were outright fabrications.
One of the idiots Ben Stein was crying about tried to host his personal, religious website on Baylor's school-owned server, was disciplined and is still teaching there!
Don't drink the kool-aid folks, use your powers to find the truth! Don't fall for Christian persecution fantasies!
Ben Stein is an idiot and so are all the folks who still accept Intelligent Desgin as science. Seriously, as if the shoddy science of ID isn't enough, the WEDGE DOCUMENT pretty much puts the nails in the coffin of the ID movement...
The Wedge Document was leaked to the internet from the Discovery Institute (the folks that brought us ID), pretty much stating that ID was intended from the start to be nothing but propaganda.
Yes, good theme song. But you can read all about Exelled at the expelledexposed website. Now I've read all about the "expelled" (i.e. flunked) scientists. No one was silenced. They were just incompetent and dishonest.
So let's summarise: President Ben Stein: wrong about science, wrong about academia, wrong about religion, wrong factally and morally about the Holocaust, wrong about Nixon and Cambodia, wrong about the stock market for the last 6 months; a clueless liar.
Stein's movie is dishonest about science and immoral about history. ID isn't science; it's caveman superstition not subject to testing or evidence. Evolution is demonstrable and not random chance. It has nothing to do with the Big Bang. The immoral part is blaming Darwin for Hitler. Hitler was a religious nutjob motivated by 1,900 years of Christian anti-semitism. He rejected Darwin, believing the Aryan race was born pure and separate. He practised UNnatural selection, i.e. biblical genocide.
JayeHK... Evidently you're a student of revisionist history because not one thing you have said is based on any form of reality. Regarding your take on the Stein movie... I'd lay odds based on what you've said, that you haven't even seen the movie and are only regurgitating what you've read somewhere else.
Not one? So evolution is a religion unsupported by scientific evidence and disbelieved by most scientists, but they're free speech martyrs persecuted by ACLU commies. Christianity has always been good to the Jews and anyway Hitler was a godless rational humanist uninfluenced by religion. I haven't seen the movie, the website, and every Stein interview and YouTube discussion of it. Stein is honest and sincere. Elvis is alive. The USofA has a bright intellectual future. Jesus will be back soon.
I apologize for that reply post. Fans of the movie are saying similar on YouTube, but it may not be your view. You may genuinely believe that this is all about academic freedom and censorship. Most of the movie is about the "expelled" staff and I haven't read independent full stories on each of them. But the movie also mis-represents and smears natural selection and pushes religious beliefs as scientific theory. That disqualifies Stein for President. However, I apologize for losing it.

I've never seen anyone indecently expose him self as much as Richard Dawkins did during EXPELLED! His religious hate mongering showed the Hitler type loser inside of him!
It was enough to make a newly converted atheist run out of the theatre in tears!

Oh dear, CurtusLove. You really have fallen for the cheap tricks Stein is pulling off. The Dawkins interview was a bad trick. He told Dawkins that it was a neutral interview, then quote mined the "signature" part and claimed Dawkins is hiding proof of ID. And the Hitler thing? that's just the epitomy of cheap shot. It's like saying the theory of gravity is why people jump off buildings.
Mr. Stein's Movie is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and puts Darwinism in proper perspective.

Such Neo-Darwinistic arrogance is destroying the integrity of science!
I have no problem with questioning the evolution theory, maybe we don't know how it all got started. We don't know everything and it's ok to admit that, at one point in time we didn't know how to cure several diseases until penicilin was discovered, but just because we don't know doesn't mean that we can pull any theory out of our asses, an invisible man living is the sky is about as realistic as saying that the pink panther created all life, YOU HAVE NO PROOF AND YOU NEVER HAD IT.
Critics might want to actually "SEE" the movie before putting both feet in their gaping pie holes. I keep having to pinch myself thinking I must be dreaming... but it's not a dream. It's real! We're living in America, the home of the free where freedom of speech is intrinsically guarded for every subject under the sun... except anything even remotely involving a perspective that might even hint of a Deity.

Yes, I hate how creationist don't understand the MAGICAL science of CHANCE. We humans (atheist or not) are the product of nothingness that MAGICALLY appeared out of nowhere from nothing and thats a scientific fact!

Ben Stein is Jewish. Why would he want Jesus in science books? He doesn't mention the bible at all. He wants to question the possibility of INTELLIGENT design, (i.e. a creator). Oh, and separate is spelled s-e-p-a-r-a-t-e, and religion is spelled r-e-l-i-g-i-o-n. Who is the dummy?
Now John McCain has his own Ralph Nader to worry about! This ought to siphon away wing-nut fundy votes in much great greater numbers than what old, burned-out Nader will do to the Democrats.
SO the movie says BIG SCIENCE is expelling ID, yet Christopher Hitchens (a writer, not a scientist) is in this video attached to the movie? I'm not taking the video too seriously as its obviously part of a marketing campaign to promote the film.
Would this inclusion of a non-scientist in a movie set up to argue that "Big Science" is "expelling" intelligent design from schools be an adequate example of what is offered under intelligent design?
The biggest questions known to Science are, "How did life begin and how did the universe come to be". Evolution Science proponents are no longer willing to position themselves by attempting to answer these two questions, they are clueless. The reason Evolution Scientist refuse to answer these two questions is because it is impossible to answer them without suggesting something beyond scientific understanding happened, something "Larger than Life like God".

Go watch youtube "Richard Dawkins says the moon landing was faked". If this is true, someone should tell him to shut up, because the people will realize that the Darwinian Evolution Community is also a billion dollar conspiracy fraud. Now the cats out of the bag and everyone is going to know that the creationist are right. If the Fed's faked the 30 billion dollar moon landing, why wouldn't they fake Evolution propaganda to control people like the USSR did?

The one you found IS the one I mentioned that was obviously spliced together. Here's the original: "Richard Dawkins links 9/11 Truthers with kooks."
I was confused when I you said that Richard Dawkins believes the moon landing was a hoax so I did a search. I just watched a video in which he says just the opposite: "...the evidence for going to the moon is so strong."
I did catch another video in which they obviously cut the same video to make it sound like he said it was a hoax.
I can't wait to see his movie! It's about time someone challenged Darwinism. On another topic, Ben is a hell of a lot more qualified than any of the other presidential candidates. But I'm seeing the film even if he doesn't run for office. Props!

Thx, and yeah, I am aware of the status of Mr Stein's "candidacy". I suppose I should have said "His running would bring up..."
Long before "ID" was around it had been more of less what I believe. The problem is to say one favors ID seems to put one in w/Fundies. However, e.g. I don't see any inherent contradiction w/ID & the Big Bang
Since you're not a Fundie, does that mean you're actually open to looking at evidence one way or another? If so, this is an excellent video explaining evolution and dealing w/ some creationism misconceptions: "7 -- The Theory of Evolution Made Easy".
Also, there's a great video on Nova. Just do a Google search for "judgment day: Intelligent design on trial" and you'll find a very professional/fair examination of the Dover Pennsylvania trial dealing w/ an attempt to teach ID in schools. You can see the entire video online. It does an excellent job of also showing ID's evolution from Creation Science. Look out for Sudden Appearance next.
I enjoyed watching the video but you must admit that the message was a bit shrill; "Shut up" if you think that random processes are not capable of producing everything we observe.
Ah... Very good. Your view may actually fit w/ theistic evolution rather than ID. There's an excellent explanation of theistic evolution on Wikipedia if you're interested. ID is actually a more specific version of "Creation Science" and does contradict evolution and seeks to discredit it. If you look up theistic evolution, let me know if that seems more like your point of view. :-)
Whenever I've tried to post a link, my comments never post. Most of the time I try to find the right Google search that will get someone there OR, e.g., TheisticEvolutionDOTorg. The second way can be frustrating for long addresses. I'll take a look at the ID pdf though I'll admit to not trusting them because of their agenda. A good site on Theistic Evolution is the one I listed above.
Ben Stien will go down in history as a great and courageous man! His movie will bring in well over 100 Million Dollars at the Box Office regardless of the massive and critical attacks upon him. He will awaken the Jews that this subject is not just a BIG MONEY MAKER, but if the Jews don't stand up to this Evolution Fraud, then Hitler is still alive and well living in the fevered minds of radical international control freaks behind the Evolution Conspiacy. Good on Ya Ben!
I really do not understand what Ben Stein is trying to do in 2008. This video, along with its website, both _try_ to be funny and advocate a political position. And yet Expelled is trying to say that ID is scientific, not political. While saying that ID people were discriminated religiously. Is Ben trying to be a political religious scientist, a Renaissance man for the 21st century?

Of course I am. Frankly, I see no contradiction between ID and evolution, i.e. life is 'designed' to evolve.

Ah... :-)

Well, ok. But wiki waky is not my preferred source...
Also, I downloaded a pdf from an ID site that wasn't terrible.
I'll look for the link...if you're interested. Can I post links here? Don't wanna get in trouble.

re: Tht1Gy's "Well, ok..."

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Ben Stein is an ultraconservative creationist quack. Anyone advocating for him to be president is an idiot.
