Both Iraq and Afghanistan combined don't produce enough oil to constitute a war. They're both resource-less countries. Lithium deposits, control in the middle east, revenge for 9-11, displacing Al Qaeda and the Taliban. All of these things were gained by this war, but not oil.

It's true that we shouldn't be over there, simply because the war was supposedly brought forth in reaction to 9/11 and to cease the terrorism. However, we still have troops in the Middle East for the purpose you stated. If it were for oil do poeple really think prices would still soar? Truth is, as sad as it may seem, when individuals sign up for the military, we need to understand we're signing our life over to the wants and needs of the military and government. I'll always support our troops 100%, but it's part of the risk their brave souls are willing to take.
