I had this recording on cassette tape but sadly it got lost. It is one of the most moving performances I have ever heard. great to hear it again, thank you for the post/
Hey thanks everyone. I always thought this was Montgomery Clift reading but it does sound a lot like Brando. I really wish I had this whole recording. Clift went through so much by the time he recorded this version. And you can hear it. Apparently, this was his favorite part of the play. Please everyone, share with as many people as possible.
We worked on a production of 'Glass Menagerie' during college. The last monologue by Tom is an awesome piece of writing, and that used to give me goosebumps whenever I saw it being performed, even during rehearsals. But this...this sends shivers down my spine. A few lines, but they speak so much.
To the other commenters: Fyi this is Montgomery Clift, not Marlon Brando. :D
(Hmm, I would've liked to hear Marlon have a go at this as well!)
To the uploader: thank you SO much for this. I feel that it's a privilege to listen to Tennessee Williams' work being read by such a brilliant actor as Monty. Together they create something special. It's also interesting to hear the difference in this reading compared to his earlier radio performance in 1951.
@talgarth88 Thank you for commenting. I've had this up for sometime now and you're the first to comment. I think this clip is just wonderful but no one seems to be interested. Thanks again.

Thanks for this amazing reading. I also am enchanted by the original Paul Bowles score accompanying his haunting monologue.

Brilliant reading by Montgomery Clift in 1964 I think, with Jessica Tandy, Julie Harris and David Wayne. Thanks for posting this.
