  • I lived with this for years then they came out with the neti pot but that gets annoying and dangerous if the water has contaminates. Then I discovered oregano oil which is mother earth's natural antiseptic. Currently I just squeeze these "sinu-Orega" drops up each si.us and I've been clear and it get rid of the fungus naturally. At least that's what I'm told. So far so good.

  • Music?

  • 6:19 Inappropriate song lyrics: "Oooh, you're a N*gger"

  • how do people get fungus in their nose? is breathing in fungus spores the main way?

  • Best treatment is to use an anti-fungal nasal spray to kill off the fungus infection. Our nasal spray contains potent natural ant-fungal ingredients and has cured thousands of people.

  • are there chances fungus might grow back again?

  • I believe that someone in my family hAs this problem

  • Great show! I have just been helped with this and now i can see how the doctor treated it. thanks.

  • I def enjoyed eating while watching this video Yummy!

  • Just lovely. wow

  • The video looks interesting .could have been a bit slower between slides. But please do not use popular music for promoting it. The next time I listen to Bee Gees I will be thinking about FUNGAL SINUSITIS lol!!! :(

  • The video was very enlightening, but the music didn't match. Thanks for the info anyway.

  • why is it that when I bring samples of the green fungus that comes out my sinus and have it cultured it tests negative for mold/fungus?

  • That has to be one of the most fulfilling jobs in the world.

  • I have had two sinus surgery's. One too straighten out a deviated septum and endoscopic sinus surgery. neither has helped me. I'm always in misrable pain. its even hard to breath sometimes. espically out of the right side nostril and i cough and blow my nose as hard as i can just to get a little bit of mucus out of my nose. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know what might work.

  • @SuperKnowItAll23 I had sinus problems for 25 years of my life; mostly blocked drainage holes in the sinus drainage passages of the skull. Also, had all types of blockages in three of my sinus cavities. Went to someone last year with a good reputation, and this specialist solved all my past problems of sinus blockages and frequent sinus infections by surgery. Why don't you visit Dr. Kevin Soh, or at least ask him if he knows a good doctor he can recommend near where you live?

  • @DUHAIM Thanks, I will try that. For everyones information, the continual drainage can also lead to pneumonia . Be aware.. also, don't blow your nose hard. It can force bacteria up your eustacion tubes into your inner ear. That is miserable and will definitely need antibiotics. Untreated, may lead to tinnitus which can ring in your ears 24/7 and can be very loud for the reat of your life. It is often suicidal. Be aware.

  • @SuperKnowItAll23 Hi , please see my reply to your question, just above.

  • @tilestyles Thank You, I have added that to my favorites.

  • Wow, it was really beautifully clean after the surgery.

  • basically they break your nose and suck the shit out i would know i have had it done and ill have it done again

  • I need this type of surgery as I have suffered from sinusitis for 10 years. I have been to many doctors in California and they don't really resolve the problem. They give me medications that work for awhile but when my head gets cold I get the attacks.

Thanks for the video. Nice surgery and great job!

  • wow thanks for sharing that, amazing, pretty delicate work.

  • Necessary graphic and ilustrative. Nice :-)

  • good work man, good work.

  • nice thakks

  • Wow! I cannot believe that people are walking around with this nasty stuff in their/our sinuses. What a great video to enlighten us on what's happening in there. Thanks for doing the video. Oh by the way, the music helped me actually sit through it without puking. L O L

  • Incredible proceedure , incredible Dr.

  • I had this done recently, best thing I could have ever done and wish I had done it 10+ years ago when I began having serious sinus issues. I'm only 2 weeks out from the surgery, still spitting up some blood and have congestion but can breathe MUCH better than I have ever been able to and I still have an expected 1-2 more weeks of congestion so it only gets better.

Surgery was easy too, I was afraid of the anesthetic but was super easy, out and then awake with a new nose (inside atleast)

  • Wow great post surgery

  • wow its so Interesting video. I totally amaze, having a sinusitis and fungal infection i want to have a surgical operation but suddenly i cannot a afford but this is life so i want great you a wonderful video its help more for us

  • music made this interesting

  • Wow.... Interesting video. Scares me, because I think the sinus and eustachian tube problems I am having seem to be fungal, and I would dread having a surgical procedure done. Aside from the Beegees music and the fact that I literally almost vomitted when the fungal matter was shown, excellent video!! =)

  • Very informative video.I certainly learnt something today.

  • Awesome! Love this! I'll see how the Sinus washing thing works before I plan a trip to Singapore though. ;-)

  • Dr Kevin Soh, thanks for showing that to us, seriously that was pretty cool to see. So how does one know if they have a fungal infection in their sinus anyway?

  • A lot of really bad advice is floating around in the comments! Saline rinses will not flush out fungal material - it is too thick and sticky for that. Saline rinses will flush out mucous and keep the sinus cavity as clean as possible, but fungus nearly always requires surgical intervention. A bad odor in the sinuses is most likely a staph infection. Anyone with that symptom should see a doctor immediately for treatment since it could kill you if left untreated.

  • The after procedure nose was the most beautiful inside of anyone's nose I've ever seen. So pink and clean. I want to get this done, so I can breathe properly!!

  • Dear Dr Kevin,

Nice video, that fungus looks like its enjoying being stuck. must be satisfying once you removed it. why not try using the microdebrider on the fungal mass and/or breaking it up with curette/similar instrument for easier sucking?

Im wondering if routinely do inferior antrostomy? Also, what are your indications for caldwell luc?

The bit at the end where you used the flexi to inspect the neo-ostium is clever, i might recommend that to my boss

    Thanks!

  • If I had this much fungus and nasal polyps i would want to get the fungus out ASAP!! There are many ways fungus get into your system, but the main 2 ways are from eating fungus contaminated foods and food products manufactured using contaminated grains and nuts, and for sinus fungus the main entry mode is by breathing in fungal spores in the air in dust from the ground, there are many fungi in natural dirt.

  • yey success!

  • wow, the result is perfect

  • LMAO very interesting and disgusting at the same time.. but wow very clean.. no more shit up your nose!!

  • I had this surgery. This video demonstrates the procedure exactly. Make sure you do the follow up after surgery the FUNGUS will return!

  • Dr. Kevin,,the description of your video above is totally the same wat was happen to my face and into inside of my nose left side i feel defferent,,and also my left side eye is getting big..doc could you plss advice me wat should i do or wat is a good medicine for it.

  • The music reinforces the message of this entertaining video.

  • god that was satisfying to see you get all that!!!

  • That was an amazing video and very informative.

  • nice and informative video.. personally I find using a nose bidet the best way to clean my sinus. just bought one form urban monk shop on amazon.. it's really really neat and cool to see how I can clean my sinus!

  • Love this video.

  • thank you for posting this video - it made the whole sotry of fungus more understandable ;)

good luck to you and your patients ;)

  • it looks so nice after all that fungus was removed.

    :p

  • beautiful

  • The music is by the BGs an australian group singing in falsetto.

  • Bee Gees is english group

  • I agree about the music.... I think it attempts to make this movie slightly sexy! .........

  • Good job Doc! :o)

  • to anyone reading this with chronic sinus problems for the love of god go to a specialist and get it looked at. What you think is "just part of life" or whatever may be totally un-necessary to have at all or treatable with something relatively simple.

  • oh its disgusting realising its actually a fungus in my sinus thriving.i have had teeth pulled for no reason due to this critter mongrel. but im not going under to get rid of it . i want the pro adjuster to annoy the buggar out or herbals . no more milk breads chocolate for me

  • Thank you for the response, however my lake of pain is half the problem. As I said it will be something I have to live with.

  • I have had my acute fungal sinusitis operated on 5 times in the last 9yrs. It is something that I will live with for the rest of my life. each of these surgeries are very invasive and takes up to 2 weeks to recover from. However to say that surgery will cause eye and brain damage on the outset is irresponsible. Yes I realise it is a risk, but you also have a risk of being stung by a bee when you go outside. Don't put this fact up, there is a rare chance it will happen.

  • I used to have what you have now cured

  • hey, my nose is leaking, i have a soar throat and my chest hurts when im laughin etc.

any good idea what i could do'? i mean anything i could eat from the kitchen or something like that?

  • Great video, I am going to talk to my doctor and see is this would help me. I liked the music too, funny contrast..

  • I just had all this done, if you are as sufferer of chronic sinusitis please get the fess surgery you won't regret it.Not that painfull at all as long as their is no septaplasy involved.Discomfort was mild for about 2 days.Just had it dond 5 days agoI am breathing better than I have in my life.First time I've been able to smell in 10 years

It's my birthday and I'm going to my favorite Italian Restaurant tonight and enjoy food once again.I now know what it is like to feel normal again.

  • i think i need this as i have been experiencing difficulty in breathin, itchiness in the nasal area, palette, tongue, eyes and everyday colds and nasal congestion. thanks!

  • Wow... That's so cool... It's like middle age's medicine

  • this made me throw up and almost faint... the romantic music doesnt fit much

  • Well, if the doc is here he can tell me why I have swollen turbinates. Ive done neti pot and the water came out the other end with no problem. Just swollen turbinates and difficulty in breathing.

  • Great Video, paricularly as I am having this same operation with a bit more, to get into the frontal sinuses from above the eyebrows, hope to get rid, finally of the fungus, polyps etc. The rinses do not help with the fungus - only bacteria. I've had many sinus ops but this next one should fix me up. Hope I can hear this music when it's being done. Love it.

  • Hey Gingerge- you stayin out of trouble? I know I am!! This is fantastic, thanks for finding it!!!

  • Well, the doctor is definitely a Bee Gees fan, huh? LOL

  • UK NHS doctors are shite, especially the stupid GPs, who are utterly USELESS. I didn't study medicine yet I know I have a deviated septum because I can feel it if I stick my pinky finger up my nostrils, and all my GP does is prescribe me some stupid steroid nasal spray!! I am going back this week, if he/she does not refer me to the ENT doctor, they have an official complaint coming.

  • you are an amazing teacher. i learn more from this video than my lectures in class.

  • The song is a remake of the Bee Gees song, "Alone". Why it is used here is beyond me. Bizarre.

  • OMG I totally use those songs whenever I perform endoscopic surgery! OMFG!

  • I listen to GWAR whenever I perform a colonoscopy.

It helps pass the time and lightens my mood...

  • well, hello mr. doctor! ;)

  • Nice. Crisp and clean

  • i found this video is very useful..thanks a lots...

  • anyone knows what title this song?

  • Alone .............By The Bee Gees

  • what name this song?

  • I couldn't watch the surgery part. It made me feel like throwing up.

  • Dont be a pune

  • And after surgery the fungus will never ever invade, becuase nice doctors told it not to WTF? Had surgery, sinuses back in few years

  • How can I know if my sinusitis is caused by a fungus?

  • if there is calcification in your sinuses?

  • Why do I like this video? I think the music and the surgery work well together. I'm so grossed out yet have to watch again!

  • i have problems , ok one nostril is clear but the other one is like blocked but they both change positions from blocked to clear, i always try to blow each one but nothing comes out . whats the problems with my nose?

  • You might have polyps, I just got surgery for it yesterday and my whole face feels like hell. My nose bleeds every now and then, I'm not allowed to hawk up all the flew and spit it out or it might cause me to bleed. I really hope this surgery pays off in a couple days.

  • Hope it works out for you... I hate my sinuses... Nothing but problems... I feel like I'm breathing through coffee a stirrer on a good day... but I don't have much faith in medicine... but maybe a procedure...

  • do a search on Hydrogen Peroxide nasal spraying.

  • Shadowdeath sounds like a deviated septum

  • swollen nasal passages.I have it 2 sometimes.

  • from this day on, everytime i blow my nose i will think of the beegees

  • do like you have to completely clear out the inside of the nose or else it'll come back or do you have to remove the bulk of it?

  • Nice Mucus Music

  • Despite me covering my mouth in horror at the surgery video, I have to admit, Dr. Kevin can make one very informative video. It's great to see a professional loving what he does and putting so much care into something and then sharing it with the world. I know I'm checking my bread VERY carefully!

  • the horror... the horror

  • guacala!!!!! que asco!!!!!! (lo digo por los Bee Gees, la operacion es interesante)

  • Any kind of mucous is so inappropriate for this type of video. It's distracting while trying to read and pay full attention to the video. I notice other videos by this particular Dr. and some others, doing the same thing on other medical videos.

For those who are interested in the music, Limewire is an excellant source of matching music to artists.

  • ohhhhh!!! esto es asqueroso!!

  • it's imposible to clean tottally de sinus without an open surgery

  • no pueden ser los BEE GEES, cantan fatal¡¡¡¡¡

  • Thanks Dreamweaver but I disagree with you on the performers. You are right that the song is " too much heaven" originally done by the BeeGees but in this verson it it done by another performer. It is likely that due to the legality of posting original songs on this site the user used an alternative verson performed by an unknown group. I like the alternative verson and was wondering who performed it. Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • I have serious sinus issues. I always have sinus headaches and I can never breathe out of the right side of my nose. I've also had this serious ear infection for over a year now. The doctor gave me antibiotics several times and it just won't make it go away. How do I know if my problem is fungal?

  • can the sinus infection be healead with infrared ligh??

  • i think i mite get this ive tried everything to curem y sinustus and nothing works antibiotics natural herbs nothing. Pretty sure its a fungal infection.

  • Who is the artist and what is the name of the song at the begining of this video? Also the second song is not the beegees but another artist does anyone know who it is?????

  • That is the Bee Gees. The title is "Too Much Heaven." It's hard to watch the video so I decided to answer you :)

  • I would try sniffing arm &hammer baking soda or goldenseal. Take anti-fungal herbs: organic raw garlic clove pressed into water, powdered tumeric and water, oregon grape root tea, powdered cloves, pau d'arco tea, chew a piece of ginger, gargle unrefined sea salt , take probiotic acidolphilus (Jarrow), Artic fish oil, eat green veggies, parsley, cabbage, kale, brocoli. Sugar makes fungus grow.

  • I'm gald they can cure it!

  • I was watching he video and I was like

    "Stop DOING THAT!!"

  • Very nice.. You really do good work Doctor.

  • hmmm what a nice how to video....

  • Some horror music would be more fitting. lol

  • hahahahaha this is so awesome.

  • that music just changed the feeling of this video lol its cool and gross

  • What accompanying music! Who ever thought of this combination?

  • I watched the whole thing while eating reeses and hershey halloween candy. I was SO entertained.

The Fungus REALLY grossed me out. Fungus in general grosses me out, but PFFF-- this was something else.

I mean, did you see that inflamation?! Ihhh~

  • What about saline rinses? Wouldn't that be a better altnerative?

  • If my sinuses ever get this bad I will just use my shotgun to perform this surgery myself. Lol great video I kind of like the song at the beginning too lol

  • any one know who it is lol ?

  • I googled it based on the lyrics, it's Bee Gees - Alone. I like it too.

  • lol nice!

  • Oh my god, how do you know if you have this? What causes it? What are the symptoms? Was this all accomplished through the nostrils? The person must feel much better now. Scary/disgusting/fascinating all at once.

  • It IS fascinating. A bit gross, but I hope to God I can afford surgery like this when I need it. Otherwise I might have to move to Singapore to see Dr Kevin Soh. Heck. It just might be worth it to fly Singapore for the surgery. I never thought the inside of a clean, healthy sinus cavity would look so beautiful. Really. The video does an excellent job of showing what an improvement this procedure could make. I want to have this surgery BECAUSE of this video. And I want Dr Kevin Soh to perform it.

  • Haha!

  • i like this song lol!!!

  • One time I had a magot come out of my nose, and very smelly bugers, i can't eat them no more is this bad LOL (:

  • OH my God. I'm horrified that I watched the entire thing. But the music made it much less traumatizing. lol I have horrible sinuses and hope I don't have to ever have this done. No fungus pls.

  • Nice outcome :-)

  • My cousin is a doctor and surgeon and he tells me that he doesn't do the Caldwell Luc procedure anymore, he tried to explain to me the reasons (surgeon talk) that went over my head but the general gist is that it causes more problems than it fixes. Can anyone say antifungal nasal douche? LOL!!!

  • guys what is the symptoms of sinussitis???

Because I dont have cold but sometimes my nose is smelly and when I bend its coming out and plhegm sometimes...Please give me information..

  • i love the music in every video.

    LOL

  • Great video, very informative.

  • That person must have felt so much better after getting that poisonous crap out of their head. Is this common or was it a really bad case?

  • Great video -- I had recurrent fungal sinusitis which recurred even after surgery. My ENT knocked it out for good though by prescribing a nebulizer and a combination of an antifungal, antibiotic and steroid for use in the nebulizer. Apparently they'd seen great success with this at Duke (where he'd done his residency) and although it was still experimental as of 2 years ago it worked GREAT for me and hasn't come back. Fungus is nasty and systemic antifungals are harsh but this was perfect!

  • Comment removed

  • I got a nose Polyp :(

  • To the people inquiring about fungus infections and knowing the difference, and those thinking netti pots have miraculously worked. Nettie pots worked on this?...wrong...you did not have a fungal infection but a bacterial one. Netti pots do wonders for bacterial infections, antibiotics can sometimes work for bacterial infections, but this never...NEVER works on fungus. Try sea salt, baking soda, peroxide & apple cider vinegar in equal amounts in boiled water as a nasal wash to control fungus.

  • Neti Pot here I come! But I don't think I'm going to use boiling water in my nose thank you, but I will take you up on the other ingredients you mentioned and thanks for the info about fungus and antibiotics. The video was very interesting to watch but I'm glad it was the other guy and not me.

  • i know how to get rid of that easy pick your ass then pick your nose

  • Chronic drainage can lead to worse complications. Like Irritable bowel syndrome. Ie. this surgery isn't always the answer.

  • MAN, Do I ever need this Surgery, I suffer Big Time With Sinus problems!!!

  • Very informative and thoroughly interesting video.

I recently had an accident (nose fracture, consussion). In the year since, I've developed chronic sinusitis & have been in the care of Dr. Harvey Plasse in NYC. After watching this, I'm inclined to believe that the increasingly foul smell in my nose is a fungus. I'm awaiting a culture test and will know Monday.

thank you Dr. Soh for presenting this. best wishes!

  • Please keep us posted on what you find out from your doctor.

  • Culture test indicates a Staph infection. I'm on Avelox now, and noticed some improvement in the past few days. But each time test reveals a different kind of infection, and each time something comes back. Will follow up next week after my visit. Best!

  • I wonder if the nose fracture caused your sinus area to be compressed making it too small to properly drain. I've had a cold the last few days and broke down and did the Neti pot nasal wash with saline water and it washed out some gross mucous. It will be interesting to see if it clears it up. Maybe it could help you. It's not hard, just had to tilt my head in different angles till the water ran out.

  • I've been on a saline rinse routine, but your suggestion always seems to come up in conversation. Nothing to lose, all to gain! thanks kayBTR.

  • How do you know if you have one of these?

    I'm desperate, help please?!

  • nasal steroids and other steroids can cause nasal fungal infections. Sores in the nose that lead to decreased breathing usually due to polyps ( growths that close the air ways off). Sores don't go away with saline sinus rinses. If they do, it is probably bacterial and not fungal. Antibiotics DO NOT WORK ON FUNGUS.

  • does somebody knows how much does it cost these kind of operations (approx.)?

  • take the music out of the video is very distrubirng and do not add any value

  • would you like some cheese with that whine. waaaa! call the waambulance. you missed the whole point.

  • Very well done there Doc!

  • Also, the choice of music cracked me up. Gotta love the Bee Gees.

  • I know. Freaking hilarious. It's a very well produced video. Methodically informative, and freaking hilarious. This kind of thing could go viral. Surgery to the Bee Gees! I love it. Can't wait.

  • As I watched him remove that nasty, clumpy fungus with the microdebrider, all I kept thinking was, "Get the bastard! Get the little son of a bitch! YEEEEAH!"

    Excellent video! Very informative...albeit disgusting.

  • lolz!! i was also thinking the same and at the end of the video, the healthy sinus vision made me feel as a winner.

  • you aint lying dude!!

  • if you rinse with saline properly, can you actually avoid this bacteria? Anyone?

  • NO. You can try baking soda, salt, peroxide, and apple cider vinegar mixture to control it only. steroids usually cause this and it is a nightmare to get rid of...you can't. Bacterial infections respond very well to saline rinses and that is how you will know the difference in the two...bacterial vs. fungus

  • 35-year-old overcome allergic rhinitis

  • I have this so often I would do anything to have this operation in a second but I cant afford private and the docs just give me more antibiotics, Yeah it goes but not for long enough. This op didnt look disgusting. It looked amazing. Thank you for sharing it with us x x

  • Its funny coz you can tell by the responces that not everyone has suffered the extreme pain that comes ith infected sinuses. I am off work at the moment whilst i wait for more antibiotics to kick in. My ears are red raw, my face is swollen, my head feels like my eyes are gonna burst, my face hurts all over and all my teeth on one side of my face hurt like there is an abcess under every tooth.

  • how did the patient know he/she had this problem?

  • because her nose was clogged all teh time and she couldnt breath properly. I had this surgery done and trust me you will feel like a new person. The results are amaizing. I had this problem and it was getting worse and worse. It was worth every single dollar I paid for!

  • yes sir.

  • Awesome video!!! Really interesting to see what that looks like in there. All knowledge is good knowledge.

  • I'm suddenly in the mood for blue cheese and some Bee Gees...LOL

  • the music just makes it look more scary.

  • The music kept me watching. It know it's serious surgery, but the music makes it a bit creepy, but somehow hilarious, and hypnotic. There's are a point in the video that part my brain that says, "eww. look away. this is gross. why are you watching this?" But the music is sublime, and my brain says, "who care's what I'm watching. It's the freakin' Bee Gees."

  • This is interesting and REALLY gross at the same time, I hope to god I never need this surgery, ishy...
