  • Ah...love those "features"? Master Guide power steering, Ford-O-Matic shifting, Cushion-Air ride, Milleage-Maker Six, Torsion-Air Drive. Didn't you love those 1950s slogans that sold cars but meant absolutely nothing.

  • The ball-joint suspension really was a dramatic improvement and with the exception of a front crossmember that trapped dirt and rusted out the chassis really was exceptional for the time. The '56 I had featured the same frame and even my tri-five Chevy friends were impressed how well the car rode and handled. It's unfortunate that Ford burdened that engine with a poor head design. It had the potential to give Chevrolet a good fight. Thanks for posting.

  • Bought mine used in 1964. My first car. Rocker panels were pretty much gone, primer was showing through on the hood, fuel gauge didn't work and the AM tube style radio was twitchy - got only 1 station - fortunately rock and roll.

But for only $25.00, it was all mine. I was the proudest, and happiest, kid in the world. It still has a special spot in my heart.
