  • Lilith :-) flesh and blood. and voice :-)

  • i was there in person.

  • I don't like it, nor do I dislike it. I'm glad it exists however. I prefer the original. I would like to hear what she sounds like without all the echo.

  • fucking hipsters go listen to edward sharpe

  • @tiggetty don't judge an artist by a single song. If you knew what she stands for or the history behind her music, you'd understand.

And the only thing that reduces my faith in humanity are shallow comments based on lack of knowledge.

  • @tiggetty i agree, but she is sooriginal and passionate!!!!

  • @tiggetty - You haven't a clue. I've seen her live and her voice is incredible. Then again, I listen to opera and classical music and her voice is definitely for the more refined taste. If you don't like her, then just go listen to something you do like instead of trying to bring everyone else down to your miserable level. They don't say 'misery loves company for nothing.' Just go and find something that DOES make you smile.

  • @tiggetty Yeah you reckon? Bet you like lady gag gag though. Maybe you should check out some of her other songs before you pass illinformed comments, shes a dynamic singer and not a piano player btw

  • @tiggetty "this reduces my faith in humanity to a new low". Comments like that does the same for me.

  • @tiggetty "First year piano student!?" That's hilarious! I have a strong feeling you're in no way, shape or form capable of an actual critique on her playing.

  • This a real "upbeat" version of this great song.

  • I like weird shit. And this is one of them. Different? yes. Good? I don't know about that...

  • @vivelavidarocka Different yes. Good no, it's better than good it's brilliant, that is one of the best female voices ever

  • love this almost as much as i love .......

  • what the fuck is this - disgusting

  • @TheStoicFuror retarded

  • @TheStoicFuror You obviously don't comprehend the meaning behind this woman. You also can't grasp the virtuosity of her technique. Do you think many people can sing like that without bleeding at the end? She can sing anything, in any way. SHE is an ARTIST ! So proud this woman is Greek :)

  • I love this so much, for me her version is the best ever. She sounds like she's completely out of her mind, and this fits the song perfectly. THAT'S how you're supposed to sing a song about being obsessed with someone.

  • @ultraviolentgeisha yeah, i like the craziness in her singing, she is fun to listen to.

  • Classic

  • I have never heard of her before today. Very strange, definitely not for everyone. But without any doubt, she's an intense performer.

  • She is simply AMAZING! What personal this cover and performance for this song!

    I LOVE DIAMANDA GALÁS!!!

  • over the awesome

  • You don't need to put a spell on me, I'm all yours, baby ;)

  • This is like when a guitarist has an inappropriately-long guitar solo. Cut it out, tantrumy.

  • What garbage! This is a joke right?

  • I'm pretty fucking thankful that this song wasn't written about me. Or sung for me. Because I'm pretty sure blood would be erupting from every orifice of my body having heard this, if it HAD been directed at me.

  • @KamuntKurush This is actually the goal of her interpretation, I think. Well said!

  • @necronsplayer the unneeded shouting barking whatever

  • This is probably the most frightening cover I have ever heard.

And I mean that in a good way.

  • AND HER MAKE UP DOESN't RUN!! a true arTIST!!

  • this video is blowing my mind right now

  • FAN-TAS-TIQUE!!!

  • oh Diamanda did a magical show at the Opera in Leipzig yesterday and I am sooo happy to be one witness of this concert at the 20th Wave Gotik Treffen

  • @khmerhexe ou yes I was also one of the lucky people! I've heard there were A LOT of people who wanted to go but on the end, there werent any tickets left!

  • @NikBallion I was waiting 4 hours before the concert started (went 5 pm to the Opera house) just to be one of the lucky ones. I was sitting in the 6th row and it was one of the Highlights of that festival.

  • diamonda is influenced by ancient chanting and tribal demonic screaming via certain rituals..she is certainly an original..shes not for everyone to be certain

  • this woman is amazing, the more she screams the more i love her

  • If she cuts the crap she would be ok

  • @KwaitDoll what crap?

  • barf

  • I understand the concept bu I don't like the sounds her voice makes.

  • imaging trying to make love to her in a hotel room -- there'd be a crowd of emergency responders out in the hall :)

  • @SupernalOne HAhaha... nice one ;)

  • @kalliopeamorphous Are you seriously going to post your Facebook drama here? Are you that desperate? smh Who is stalking who????

  • the genius

  • blues ,

  • please tell me she did a cover of Peggy Lee's Fever :L

  • I wanna get her singing for my experimentalindiejunglegothwavecore album.

  • ERES ÚNICA... NADIE CÓMO TÚ....

  • Diamanda Galas should do the soundtrack for "Last Rites: The Return of Sebastian Vasilis. produced and directed by Sam Raimi, starring Bruce Campbell as Karl, Gene Simmons as Sebastian, Randy Quaid as Lyndon, Jessica Biel as Kate.

  • I bet she is a dominator in bed

  • @slutypet Probably a head-biter too. I would let her do it!

  • @ergr84 lool that would really hurt.. you would scream louder than her xD

  • @slutypet Maybe, but not in multiple octaves!

  • @ergr84 xD

  • Artistic, creative, talented, emotive, expressive, dumbfounding, humbling, awe-inspiring, enigmatic, beautiful, harrowing, liberating, professional, amusing & terrific.

  • ya kallateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Finally, a female artist who does not rely in looks and safe repetitive sounds to please the majority.

Punk, jazz, opera and pagan rituals, all meet in Diamanda Galas, love her!!!

  • @Uluwatusunrise

Who cares. Like your dick, you should keep your beliefs to yourself, and not shake them under other people's noses, it's not polite.

  • @mchelo18

    Very true!

  • @mchelo18 this music has tons of repetition

  • @keeelane

SIGH, no kidding. EVERY music has repetitions, loops, sequences that form the basic structure of a composition, Einstein, even classical music. But if you turn on the radio you'll hear basically the same shit over and over again, all singers sounding the same, all beats identical, no personality whatsoever, that's what I mean, but it obviously went WAY over your tiny little head.

  • wtf ? is she giving birth ? simply not of this planet . great !!! wild banshee your right on that , imagine having a nite out with her , crazeeeee !!1

  • This is freaking me out.

  • Infantile rage from a big powerful voice...and she never loses the tune once. Listen more carefully next time. She is a breathtaking talent.

  • The original song is great, but this is carzy and horrific...in a good way!

  • She's an interesting musician but this version to me just sounds completely corny

  • There are so many good versions of 'I put a spell on you' for example Nina Simone, Buddy Guy, Canned Heat, Joe Cocker,Marilyn Manson and of course the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins all of whom work their own magic juju, but you get the impression that Diamanda is on more than nodding terms with the demon!

  • êita mule do capeta

  • Infantile rage from a powerful voice. Big whoop.

  • @marlowman

"infantile" rage? do your effin' homework dude. this biyatch has quite a bit of rage, k?

  • @MultiDegenerate Yeah, I'm familiar with her tired act.

"Quite a bit of rage" is still infantile.

Oh, but you're "degenerate"... this acting out impresses you.

    So sorry.

  • @marlowman hello inferior intelligence. If you communicate with the world that surrounds you at all,may I please ask you to stop your yacking, you're boring the shit out of us

  • @goeatroadkill Go upload some Beyonce, genius.

  • @marlowman That's your job,dear.

  • @marlowman I looked at your profile, and there's no evidence of what artist you actually do consider to be a worthwhile singer or musician. Could you let me know?

  • You don't like? Go elsewhere yes?

  • she's so creepy... Jebus

  • Tu eres bien venida a mis suenyos

  • If you think this is something, you should see her live. Wow.

I think by the end of it I had crapped out my heart. Also I had a raging erection. That was so scared it tried to hide behind my nuts.

  • She has put a spell on me.

  • This raised the hairs on the back of my neck! Fucking brilliant!

  • I saw her at the sydney opera house for my 17th birthday (jan 2001) and i was amazed, petrified and bemused by her abilities. not for everyone, but truly unique.

  • Funny enough, as whacky as it sounds, it's probably the most faithful cover done of this song.

The CCR verion is brilliant, Nina Simone's very good (though it's deprived of all the craziness), Marilyn Manson's is brilliant, but this is the only that can rival with Screamin' Jay Hawkins!!!

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE I totally agree with all of these, especially Marilyn Manson.

  • Excelsa... nadie como tú... un admirador tuyo desde México

  • Lady Gaga is a sip of Diet Coke...

  • @YoJMMT 'swhat i was thinking

  • BANSHEE!

  • She makes me literally believe the lyrics.

  • Most unique, versatile female voice I have EVER heard.

  • kerase th na stamathsei

  • I know just how she feels :-Z

  • @ MrTangent....yes I can...that is what packing tape is for or an 8" uncut serpent is for...seriously. I'm gay...and love lil Dia. But I'm also a lil hot native american and she sounds like my granny calling the deer with that "aaaaa'aaaaa''aaa'aa'aaa'aaahh". Smiles everyone.

  • The blues the way the blues were meant to be done!!

  • WOW :D Beeeeeeeautiful :D BRAVOOOOO :D

  • nick cave and diamanda galas duets pls.!

  • bravi!!!

  • SERPENTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Genio!

  • I remember when I first hear of Diamanda. I pictured some African witch-woman something like Storm from the X-men, born in a nation sack, steeped in acid, soaked in the blood of her very last lover...somehow, finding out that she's a rather small Greek woman hasn't diminished her visceral, mythical appeal...

  • @crazyirishdan Hey, man. Us small people are not to be fucked with.

  • @madsketcher Dax Riggs had the 'Ronnie Van Zandt' thing going, too, made you think 'no way that big of a voice could come out of that small a man'. Just the contrast...

FYI my right hand man is the 5'2" dynamo otherwise known as Rick the Juggler, type in "Venice Knife Juggler" for some probably awful tourist footage. We make quite the pair, he likes to joke that we're brothers - guess which one momma fed?

  • @crazyirishdan

    Hah, so very true.

  • pinche gente que le gusta lady gaga se mete a ver esto, pus no mamen...

  • My girl did the same noise last night... i guess i put a spell on her

  • @rekgor LOL

  • SO many thanks for this video!!!

There's a chance that you upload the complete VHS for direct download?

Or you know where I can find it?

I'm a crazy fan of Diamanda and I live in the north of Argentina, impossible place to get even an album from her...

  • she s so amazing she sscares me

  • i want to be diamanda when i grow old :D

  • Diamanda Owns... always...

  • amazing woman. she makes nina hagen seem like a good christian girl!!!

  • @CatMSFat ha ha, that's funny -- especially since DG hates Nina on a personal level.

  • @bigbronzespider Really? Why??? I've always loved Nina H, but I'm not too keen to hear her religious speeches! And I don't know why, but I've never heard about the amazing Diamanda until I found her here on youtube a few weeks ago!

  • @CatMSFat Nina Hagen was part of a whack-job group of moron "activists" who claimed HIV did not cause AIDS. In 1999/2000 Diamanda posted an open letter on her website and tore Nina Hagen up one side and down the other.

  • Wow, Bjork meets Janis Joplin. I love it.

  • such menace.

    such horrible feeling to it.

music on the edge of madness.

  • 3:51-4:10

    I looooooooooove her!!!

  • She`s the goddess of underground.

  • @whokilledzekeiddon You are complete moron. You are not funny. You have just insulted someone with more talent than most musicians alive. Not only does she have 6 plus octaves to spare vocally and virtuosic piano ability but she is a musical genius. You can't replicate her at her worst. So why don't you take your elbow, your cat, your stupid nonsense and jump off a cliff. Fuck off asshole.

  • Okay, sparkles. relax.

  • Hang on - "Not only does she have 6 plus octaves..."

I won't debate whether she's good or not. You like her and that's cool. I don't, but as you so tastefully put it maybe I should keep that to myself.

But I'm calling bullshit on the whole "6 octaves PLUS" thing. Google the string "how many octaves can someone sing" and look at the first result on the Answerbag site. It's quite interesting, I didn't know any of that until you brought it up.

  • @DeathMetalDouglas68 She doesn't have a 6 octave range. She's the 1st one to discredit all of that in numerous interviews.

  • @bigbronzespider That may have been an exageration on my part, but I just wish her haters would take a hike. Her talent is real and not negotiable. You know this.

  • So good. She is amazing.

  • she reminds me Janis Joplin

  • She's even crazier than Janis joplin!

  • ELA É O MÁXIMO...KK

  • This is called a perfect and unique voice .I love you so much....

  • wow shes like an impressive banshee

  • does she have pms or what?:)

  • pms, or a penis?

Her lithp ith a hyuge turnon. Speech impedimenths and bad falthe teeth really do it for me.

  • I love it when she plays a more upbeat number and still manages to make it FUCKING TERRIFYING. <3333 Diamanda.

  • How come they cut the part at the beginning of the song where she starts by singing "Devil, devil, devil.." ?

Do someone know where I can find it ??

    Thx !

  • My mother has very good tastes in music, but she can't help but being a little afraid of her. On the contrary I simply adore the way she puts emotion in those amazing screams and makes them sound so great. Diamanda's vocal experimentation is not something that ends with itself but it really helps going to the darkest place of ourselves. She's awesome. Thank you for posting so many videos of hers.

  • Truly? Your mother?

  • insine but artistic

  • my guuuuuuuuuuuuts

  • FUCK!!

  • Yeahh :-)

  • She's one of the few female artists that scare me. For that, I love her. Can you imagine having sex with this banshee??

  • I try as hard as I can not to think about that. I listen to Diamanda Galas when I want to hate myself for being white, male, not in prison and not HIV+. It'd be like having sex with a disapproving aunt.

  • @MrTangent Having sex? I dont wanna see her in a furious rage!

  • @MrTangent you need 10 to 20 lives to understand her...You piece...!

  • @MrTangent yes

  • LOVE HER!!!!

  • She is so dynamic.

...and her artistic talent is as smooth and strong

    as Greek wine!!!!

watch her other song SKOTOSEME=kill me

  • Comment removed

  • I dare to disagree, as I enjoy the Jonas Brothers on occasion but I also love Diamanda...some music I go to for its catchy hooks, some I go to for its artistic merit.

  • one of the best juxtapositions (of musical interests) EVER XD

  • How can anyone compare to this woman?

  • @Problembeing simple watch me as i have a fit from my bipolar disorder, then i sound like her in le litanies de satan

  • Elemental.

I wonder when and where this was filmed?

  • I think this is from the "Judgment day" video (apparently available only on vhs) and it was released in 1993 so it should be from around that time.. just guessing.

  • The Metro in Chicago

  • Spectral screams!!!

  • I would love to see her live, brilliant performance.

  • I'm seeing her live in concert again (for the 4th time) in a few weeks, can't wait!

    Thanks for posting

  • Damn, she's so unbelievably cool.

  • Don't try listening to this at work-
