Porn should be a tool, not a career. Many people do things that are not what they want to do, or seem appealing on its face only to be slapped silly by reality. However, many of people (not just women) who enter the industry, do not have a plan of how long they want to do it, where to put the money and what is ultimate goal(college, getting away from abusive relationships) who knows? Instead they subject themselves to abuse for money and get enamored by the image. That is the addiction.
