need better spark plug wires, so it does not miss in the water, also use a sealant on the dizzy cap, and put dielectric grease in each plug wire as you pop them on, the plug and cap, do the same to the coil wire, you will never miss in water again. this was one of the first tricks i learned back in the day 4wheeling.
shawnfrench100. Ya man your 76 isn't rare. The 304 and 400 are great tho. Hard to kill them. The quadratrack is aluminum and light but actually strong as long as you keep up with it. Regular fluid changes. If it starts to pop then its your chain witch it 120 bones. I have ran mine for ever and ever and no problems. But, i got a twin stick D18 for its replacement just in case she gives up the ghost. Parts are cheap for our jeep also. You should be able to find them all over. Good luck with it.
do any of you jeep guys know anything about a 76 cj7?has a amc 304,automatic turbo 400...its actualy a foctory quadrotrack....did i buy something rare or is it your everyday cj7? the pumpkins are in line with each other? it has a 4 inch lift with a reverse shackle kit..anyone who can let me know some advice would be greatly appreciated...
@ZzoldpeopleburningzZ Agreed. Both vehicles are purpose built. The FJ is pretty bad ass too. Lifted, Mickey Thompsons, awesome winch bumper with a Warn 9.5, black beadlock rims. TRD Locked. High tech meets mountain trails.
@ZzoldpeopleburningzZ The guy who owns the FJ also owns a very bad ass, fully restored, frame up built CJ-7 with a killer drive train (AMC 360 crate engine, T-18 trans, D44 axles, lockers, etc). He bought the FJ for moderate trail riding and it does fantastic, very reliable and high-tech. The Jeep is a killer rock crawling machine. He wheels both and each has a purpose. I also know he would never throw his vehicles into damaging mud holes like this, not into trashing his 4x4s. Smart guy.
@white98cummins IK think those were 37 inch Irok's. To bolt up a T-18 to a Dana 300 you need a rare adapter plate made by Jeep or you can get an aftermarket adapter. Advance Adapters has a kit (50-7500) that bolts the Ford T18 to Jeep Dana Spicer 300. Cost $515.71 They're on the web, address is Advance Adapters dot C0M
@Offroadersdotcom Ya I looked into it after I asked this and Novak sells an adapter to for I think like $450. Was he running the Dana 300 or did he swap something else in? Reason Im asking is the T4 behind the 360 in my Cj is about done so im looking for something to swap in it that will last....the Dana 300s on its way out the door too though
@white98cummins Honestly I' not sure what he was running with. I didn't know the guy. I have a CJ-7 with a 360 and a T-18A with the 6.32:1 first gear. Check first, there was 2 versions one with 4:1 1st gear. Great trans. Behind it I have a Dana 20 with a Tera-Low kit giving it 3.15:1 low range. Final crawl ratio is 59:1 The T18 & Dana 20 is a common combo and has good strength. The T-18 / Dana 20 is a good combo if you don't want to rebuild the 300. With a tera low kit it's a great combo.
Why do I need to fast forward to 1:53? Why not just edit the video more??
