  • OK conversation's over I hate nerds that use TOS as an abbreviation. Go back and watch the series gooch muncher. If shots weren't getting thru the shields why did they sustain damage to systems other than the shields? Go back and watch when the Dominion were first introduced: the vessel they destroyed was of the same class as the Enterprise D and the weapons did indeed pass thru the shields as if they weren't there. After that it was implied that Federation tech was struggling to catch up.

  • @pastramipete And then, in lost of places, it is mentioned that: "shields are down to such-a such-a percent!"

  • Well, my last comment may have been a bit rude, but just to make clear that I'm not one of these Trek-Fans which you mentioned.

Again, my first comment wasn't about to insult you, it just was something that came to my mind when I read your comment . So I didn't hesitate and wrote a few words. I can certainly understand that you are upset because of all these real Trek-Nerds. I know a few of them myself and it's not easy to come along with them. Especially when you talk with them face to face.

  • I referenced Shatner's comment, lol. I just don't like smart ass nerds online or otherwise. Trek like lots of other things is a hobby to me. I have a family, a job, a life. I work with a sterotypical no-life smart ass nerd and so people like that set me off. Seems that there's a lot of smart ass nerds with online there days trying to force their opinion on others. If you're not one of them I apologize but from your comments it seems like it.

  • Try to repost this video...WMG should be OK with it now that they've settled their differences with YouTube.

  • NOTICE:

The audio has been disabled because it contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG(Whoever this is)

  • Most of what I´ve seem are a phaser or torpedo fire followed by an explosion, or destroied ship; I didn´t see any shield deflecting hit or force field around the ships, can someone explain why?

  • They cut out the shield effects to save on money. With so many ships flying around and blowing up doing the visual effects were starting to become expensive for a television show.

  • @alonelychild I always guessed that because when the Dominion were first introduced, their weapons went right thru the shields, like the Borg sometimes could. Starting in season 3 they brought in the Defiant and the idea was that Starfleet needed the tech developed to fight the Borg to hang with the Domnion. After that it was always a process of continually improving each others weapons, etc. to keep up with each other.

  • @pastramipete

The simple, out-universe answer is, it was just too expensive for the cgi-artists to add shields to all the ships which are featured in the various battles.

It then also would've been stupid if just a few of the ships had shields, like the Defiant or other "hero-ships".

  • @StarTrekMarco Nobody likes a smart-ass know it all nerd. Take this to heart and follow Shatner's SNL skit advice, get a life. It's a show, it's supposed to be fun. Get over yourself.

  • @pastramipete No one likes a smart-ass who pretends he's not a smart-ass. Shields were mentioned in all combat episodes, and this was made in the 90's, when digital was brand-new.

    Go watch Star Wars.

  • @Idazmi7 Who's pretending? I know when they were made nerd boy. Digital goes back to the early 80's, it just wasn't that good, too expensive to be practical for weekly television. Remember a certain Genesis sequence from a little film called Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan? Star Wars? Is that like a Trek nerd insult? oooh you got me good

  • @pastramipete He wasn't insulting you. You just act like an ass because you're online. (common syndrome) Also, there wern't visible shields in any of the early films, either, but they were there.

    Smart-Ass Moron.

  • @Idazmi7 No I act like a smart-ass becuase I am. And you were the one insulting me since we're keeping count. Shields weren't visible in the original series either. If you've read Roddenberry & Whitfield's excellent book, "The Making of Star Trek" shields were explained as being the equivalent of armor on a battleship. Implying that they weren't a 100% perfect defense. A well placed shot and/or a particularly powerful weapon might take out a ship in one shot.

  • @pastramipete I lol'd, now it seems to be that you've become the "smart-ass know it all nerd", not to mention that I never was. As Idazmi7 said, I wasn't insulting you, that means you shouldnt take everything that's being said in your direction too serious. Ah, btw I have a life, what about you? Seems that you are online your whole life, complaining about things that aren't worth it. I'm pretty sure Shatner didn't mean that with his advice.

  • @pastramipete Funny that that never happens, ESPECIALLY in TOS. You are not as smart as you think: I own that book, and I happen to know that no shot ever just "went through shields" until the Borg, and when they killed the Enterprise D. If Dominion weapons just went through shields, why are shields mentioned in DS9 at all? They would be no good, and not worth mentioning.

  • Great video, what is the name of first song?

  • I believe it's from the new TRANSFORMERS film, but i'm not entirely sure. The music track around 3-4 minutes in is definately from it, so i think that the stuff from the beginning may be a build up to that.

  • Wow, this video really rocks!

  • Very good job!I like the music,it`s very epic. The scenes are chosen very well.Keep the good work up!
