In the late forties people noticed that rhythm n Blues was pregnant, knocked up by Country. Rock 'n Roll was born, roaring like a squalling brat, in 1955. It tore everything up for a while. Then it hibernated in a chrysalis when Elvis was drafted. It burst out of the cocoon in 1963 and destroyed the entire world. They bound it with Disco chains. It broke free in 1976, burned up parts of itself with white hot fire. It fell unconscious when John was shot, lay like a dead thing till Cobain came.
@54markl It thrashed around for a while, angry at the world. When Kurt shot himself, Rock n Roll fell into a coma and still hasn't woken up. Now it lies unconscious, plumes of smoke rising from its nostrils. People watch it breathlessly, wondering if it will wake up to burn down the world again, or maybe just die in its sleep this time. Things are darker and older now than before, and it doesn't look very bright up ahead. But maybe It Will Stand again. It stirs fitfully, uneasily some times.
@54markl Dark clouds scud by angrily in a high wind, thunder mutters. Rock n Roll lies in a coma, a sleeping giant, dreaming uneasily. Newspapers blow down Main Street in a high wind, iron raindrops fall, ageing hippies, wildhaired and ragged, stagger down the dark road muttering "It will stand. It will stand. The twilight grows dimmer, the flailing figures are swallowed in shadow. Father Time, face grim and unsmiling, marches down the road. The wind roars in the trees. The Giant lies still.
I salute the General, he's got it goin' on! I looked him up, and he's a Cool McCool black guy. Apparently this guy didn't get much respect, similar to Cliff Richard.
Little kids might be frightened by the disembodied hand at 2:46!
Yeah, I only recently learned to do the fade. Just about the only special affect in my software. The ONLY one I think. LOL But it does the job.
No he didn't. Some of the stuff he did with The Showmen was cool but those songs aren't too remembered. I guess you could almost that even Chairmen of the Board had a one hit wonder with "Give Me Just A Little More Time" even though they had one or two other minor hits.
Hey now kiddies, watch and learn. The flip is all part of the experience.
I'd have to say "It Will Stand" is a favorite song out of the many that I listen to. The MP3 just didn't do it for it for me. Couldn't be a reissue and couldn't be the Imperial release from a couple of years later. It had to be the Minit Records label. They do pop up on ebay here and there but not too often. I saw it and ran with it because usually in this condition they're about $10. This was buy it now for $4.
