  • it's inocent kids from 30 years ago having fun, never quite got the set thought, looked like a milk bar

  • do you have to be a complete fag to be put in these videos?

  • Hahahaha That was hillarious.

  • Awwww. That's so cute!

  • cannel laughter anyone?

  • OK, this ws funny. The gag got a bit repetitive, but it was cute.

Hey, in the end he gets the girl.

  • its not even funny why are they laughing

  • Hi there, thank you for uploading these,,,it really brings back sweet memories :)

Could you upload the rest of the videos in the series?

  • Hi, thanks for your comment. I did originally have the whole series on tape but sadly most of these got taped over :(

  • 0_0 wtf wut year?? o and how is this funy XD

  • 1983.

  • essa e antiga

  • the mini pops were dressed the way they were cause it was a bunch of kids under hot stage lights and they wanted to have a dramatic effect. the kids were playing dress up and having fun making music. doing what we all did during the 80's singing along with loud fun tunes and dancing around in clothes that likely was your parents. name me one kid in the 80's that didn't.

  • I think we all did this at one point as kids back then. Good times.

  • Thank you Bravejordy for posting these videos...I havent watched them since I was 7 or 8, so It was a very pleasant surprise to come across them now...it reminds me of a time when my friends and I used to meet up at each others house after Homework to watch this show,..People who think that this show is anything other than Pure innocent fun need to get their minds out of the gutter..

  • Thanks Natasha, I'm glad you like them. Your comments regarding pure innocent fun echo my thoughts exactly.

  • @natashad83

I meant to give somebody else the thumbs down, and gave it to you by mistake. I'm sorry.

Can somebody give natashad83 a thumbs up to make up for it?

  • kids love to dress up and sing their favourite popsongs - it happened then it's happening now - the only difference now is that pop songs TODAY often FAR more blatant, explicit and sexual.

I much rather watch THIS than a modern day equivalent

  • Ha Ha Super fun!!

  • of course they didn't intentionally mean to sexualise children...but that doesn't change the fact they did.

  • You're entitled to your opinion, and yours obviously differs from mine. If I thought for one moment that these videos were obscene or exploited children in any way I would remove them in a heartbeat. For most of these kids Mini-pops was their 15 minutes of fame, Ive even had the parents of one of the children featured write and thank me for uploading these clips. Mini-pops, whether you love em or hate em, reflect a time in TV history when life in general was a lot less complicated.

  • The people were mad because the producers chose the specific song with inappropriate lyrics for the kids to sing. The onus is on them. They didn't write the lyrics, yeah, but they still allowed the children to sing it.

For a child to sing 'i kissed a girl' innocently because they're having fun is a different thing, but for a 6 year old girl to be forced into provocative dance moves and slutty make up and clothes and to sing the lyrics 'make love' and 'turn me on' is not cool.

  • FFS it's a kids tv show, get over yourself! If you see the dance moves as 'provocative' then it seems to me your the one with the problem.

  • Those girls gave me nightmares for years!!!!! (when I was a toddler and kid ~ THEIR HAIR!!!!!!!)

To the uploader> The outcry wasn't really with this video, but with the girl who sang 'morning train' ~ Check it on out on youtube she talked about making love and a guy turning her on and she had shit loads of make up on.

  • I appreciate your comments but I think its unfair for anyone to place the onus of the songs lyrics on the shows producers. Geez, if were gonna go down that road, I was at a friends house last week and his 7 year old daughter was singing a song called I Kissed a Girl so should we interpret it as anything more than a little girl singing a popular song? I dont think so. Back in the early-80s, people didnt have such a big hang up about political correctness as they do today.

  • As regards to all the make up, you have to appreciate that at the time we were still in the midst of glam pop and a lot of bands such as Duran Duran also wore lots of make-up, so perhaps this is why the makers of Mini-pops decided to go with the heavy make-up look. Whatever the reason, Im sure the producers did not set out to offend anyone and least of all the children.

  • The controversy over this show (if it hasent already been covered) was that they were dressing up 10, and 11 year old young girls and getting them to wear too much make up. I blame their parents personally.

  • No wonder our parents got this show banned.

  • 2:41 Geez...it wasn't THAT funny!

  • Comment removed

  • lol... kinda creepy...

the girls have on... so much makeup...

  • thats so funny!

  • hahaha i love the canned laughter..

  • i had the "minipops" tape as a kid. for my sixth grade talent show we did their "stupid cupid" all the fuss is about their alleged "oversexualization". its all in how you view it...we thought it was innnocent fun...

  • I remember this one, the very first mini pops I watched. The next day, everybody in school was talking about it.

  • i dont remember this show and to be honest im glad

  • how old are they now?

  • I'm guessing they'd roughly be in their mid-30s now.

  • maybe the songs are offending, or the way they are dressing! I agree, i don't find anything bad about this. It's sort of a spin-off of Kids Incorporated

  • Can somebody give me the names of the children? :D

  • Probably the best way to find out is to watch WickedFabala's uploads of the documentary,"Whatever Happened To The Mini Pops?"

  • mid 20's

  • aww that little boy is so cute and funny i read their was comady im the show and the kids would tell jokes and do daft things to get a laugh but they loved it

  • no fair he got pushed by them

  • i know but he dosent mind aww hes so cute wonder what he looks like now all grown up

  • At least it didn't spawn the likes of Christina Aguilera, Lustin Timberlack and

eeks! Bratney Spores like the Mickey Mouse Club did.

  • no one knows what happend to these kids they were very talented most of them ended up in west end shows now some are parents them selfs now but they didnt go on to be a list celebs like the mickey mouse kids did

  • GUESS WHAT I GOT MINI POP 4 my five year old goes nuts!

  • so who cares

  • what is wrong with this its rocks like to see this doing mad doggs 2 sly

  • I can understand what the fuss is about, but the kids are having fun, right?? it's quite special to them, so yeah.

  • i love the mini pops. Please post more videos. I see a lot worse on tv today. The controversy supposedly was they way they would gavotte and dress. Also that the words to the songs were not changed. Watch Kids Inc. which has Fergie from the 80's. Is not they way they dress a little racey for Disney? Anyhow show more mini pops videos.

  • Pedo.

  • It surely beggars belief that Channel 4 should have pulled this series as being 'controversial.' For one thing, Channel 4 has always been inordinately proud of its 'controversial' (which it almost always isn't) image, and for another I've seen much the same sort of thing performed by my own kids in their school plays. Oooh, a bit racy, and esoecially for all the grannies in the audience if their pacemakers should short circuit in all the excitement.

  • I couldn't agree with you more my friend; everybody LOVES Mini-Pops!!!

  • Thanks, shafty. It's a sad world when we can't even let kids have a bit of fun in the spotlight, isn't it?

  • I think we should let kids have some time in the spotlight with CDs like the Mini Pop Kids and such, but let's have the kids be able to sing!

  • True enough - I wonder if they had to pass an audition beforehand ... somehow I doubt it!

  • they did but you can see their is a diffrence between shows hear in earler songs like Yellow submarine the girls are plasterd with a ton of make up but its toned down in other videos its a bearly their look

  • yer i believe this episode is from the 2nd series when the controversy had all come to light and the producers were being s lot more careful about what songs were perfomed and how much make up the girls were wearing.

  • I remember this as well, thanks for posting.

  • I remember this program ....... thanks for posting !

  • Thanks for your comments :) I did originally have all six shows of the Minipops in their entirety, but sadly most of them got taped over. The ones I've uploaded here are all I have left :( Maybe somebody out there has the rest of them (fingers crossed).

  • From the comments I've read online, the "controversy" apparently came from them singing such songs as "Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight" and sometimes dressing skimpily.

  • OMG MiniPops! thanks soo much! post more!

  • post more mini pop videos!!!!!!!
