I can't stop thinking how strong was she. she goes on with a broken ribbon and still have the energy for beautiful pivots and jumps...she shouldn't have got a 0. she would deserve something like 9.00, or even 12.000 with a bonus for her strenght. the code of points suck. you can't win without looking like a contorsionist and if you refuse to surrender you get 0...
Totally agree! IMO the rule that says you get 0 is one of the most, if not THE most stupid rule RG has ever come up with. It is not like she is doing nothing. She should get some reward for what she is doing, but huge deductions for bad apparatus handling instead... Most stupid rule ever!! :-o

She needs to lose some weight before Beijin and take ballet lessons. She doesn't have grace and she doesn't look passioned about what she is doing. She performs like a robot. I am a Canadian, but I would never cheer for Orlando. I like gymnasts from Eastern Europe. They are beautiful to watch.
It's horrible to see that hatred doesn't come only outside the RG world, but from inside. I'd be very proud to finally have again a gymnast of my country recognised by the international scene. I hope you can get over your hatred one day - or at least that you can be better than her, despite how unlikely that is.
I am from Europe and I've been used to seeing top gymnasts who compete like robots (Olga Kapranova is a perfect example of that). You should be very proud to have a gymnast like Alexandra in your country. She's a competitor, she's a joy to watch and despite her flaws, she has personality and a style all of her own! That's quite an achievement if you ask me!
a zero?!? - it seems like such a ridiculous rule, I just don't understand why? - she was awesome the whole routine!! - what something like that does to your focus is crazy and look how strong she ended with those solid attitude turns!!! man I wish!
It's rare that gymnast at this level use a spare. Ribbon is one of her best and she was hardly expecting this. Unfortunately the rules say it is an automatic zero in this sitution. So unfortunate since she was doing so well. Canada should be very proud to have a gymnast like her!
oh my goshh.. yeah like i was about to start crying! that suckss.. and she doesn't deserve this at all! her routine was still so good! aww alexx canada still loves youu! congrats on your other 3 routines!
I understand the rules that led to her getting a zero but I don't think that's a fair rule because she attempted to use the ribbon as an apparatus. And isn't ribbon the only apparatus that can break during a routine? LIke what would happen if your ball deflated or your rope broke in two but you continued anyway? Zero?
Nope, actually clubs and hoops break even more often than ribbons. But I agree it's so silly she got a zero, and really heartbreaking because she truly was the rightful champion, no doubt about it. Such a wonderful gymnast!
You're amazing and Canada's proud for what a great job you did. Your routine was magical from the beginning and I wanted to cry when the ribbon broke. You responded so well to it and continued on perfectly and that takes so much courage.
I think it was unfair ... she didnt deserve "0" .... ok, the ribbon had broken, but the judges at least could have given a better score, since she was perfect in the beginning....
Bless her heart. She choose not to give up and finish doing what she came there to do for herself and for the crowd who was right there cheering her on. I think it's terrible that she got a zero. Had they just scored the routine up until that point she would've made the final, and it's rather controversial since people are saying it was the judge coordinator's responsibility to raise a flag to stop the routine.
Those fouettes at the end are insane. Such power and centreing, and she does a quadruple pivot to cap off the sequence!!

in the new COP 2009-2012 : No gymnast or group is allowed to continue an exercise with a broken apparatus. If
the exercise is continued, it will not be evaluated (0.00 pt).

Why does she do the fouettes twice? Are you allowed to do the same element 2 times? Or is it allowed as she has more rotations in the first one?
