  • we use to do this EXERCISE when I was an undergrad at Wichita State. It was fun and helped me loosen up my throwing. Young potters should see how many of these they can make in one hour. I just betcha you're gunna learn something!!! thanks for posting

  • Looks sloppy

  • @zem1956 Thanks! Sloppy is good. Looks sloppy and feels sloppy - kinda just like clay. Perfection is soooooooooooooooooo boring and a false taskmaster

  • wow! thats really good :)

  • I'm not sure people are really understanding this video. This isn't to demonstrate his 'supreme' skills or to show off some amazing finished product like a lot of throwing videos show. This is meant to be a demonstration of an exercise that will help build comfort with the clay.

If you approach throwing with the expectation of getting some amazing end product out of it, you will be disappointed. It is all about the enjoyment of the process, learning and understanding the feel of it.

  • i dont think this teaches anything.people watching this that are just starting should wipe there memory of it

  • thats a pretty shitty teapot

  • well, I guess you could fill it up 1/3 of the way so it would not pour out of the horizontal spout !!

  • Excelente

    Estamos esperando nuevos videos suyos.

    Gracias

  • and this would teach what?

  • exactly..

  • @cdmudslinger While having fun it teaches: economy of movement; planning; estimation of amount of clay needed; looseness in throwing and form and; gets you out of your head and into your body. This is only an exercise - do with it what you will.

So, back to you - what else does it teach?

  • this is great! but how does it stay together without any slip and score?

  • theyre all plastic... the only time you need to slip and score is when one is lether hard and one is plastic or when theyre both lether hard

  • cool thanks!

  • I LOVE IT!

great to see you in action

  • Oh! Teapot man.

  • I am in love with porcelain clay <3

  • Kickass! I'm making a teapot in ceramics.

  • me too

  • hilarious and clever I loved it

  • What about the hole in the bottom?

  • You are correct and very observant. Bad editing on my part - used the wrong clip [out of 4 tries]. Whoops. There's one more problem - wrong 'finished' teapot!

  • Not to worry....not many of us are Spielbergs yet!

  • What a wonderful trip! Really makes you sit back and tell yourself to stop being such a tight ass and enjoy the ride. Great job! Donna
