Yeah but now other NHL teams have caught up since the lockout and have scouts all over Europe where Detroit would spend a decade earlier cleaning it all up. No advantage there anymore. The Wings are going to have to have some poor seasons before they can win it all again. Teams have become so good at drafting nowadays that you are most likely never going to see 1st overall busts anytime soon. No more 7th round gems. Nobody is overlooking shit now.

it's easy for those guys to chip in when you have a coach like Babcock and system that has been in place for a long time with the veterans running it. They would be hopeless on a team like Columbus whereas if Datsyuk was on Columbus, he would still be putting up his point per game pace.

@WEINBAUER what are you talking about, the nhl has had the cap for a few years now and the wings are still dominant. The wings ability to find and develop talent is the best in sports and we will be fine. Just for example, Pavel Datsyuk was drafted 171 overall and Henrik Zetterberg was drafted 210 overall. No other team wanted them but us and now they are 2 of the best players in the league! By the way the cap is adjusted each year, for the 2010-2011 season the cap was 59.4 million.

it was a good game though the wings didn't start as crisp as they normally do... which led to the two Sens goals at beginning of periods... they caught themselves in the 3rd and rallied but it wasn't enough... I think that Babcock is going to get them ready for a nice run from here on out... we've lost two in a row but we'll rebound... we'll win the Cup too! GO WINGS GO!
