I had an American Shorthair just like this guy, and we did have to keep him on a diet just to keep him under 25 lbs. Know that a lot of that bulk is muscle, our vet said Astro was normal for his breed, very muscular and heavy. So like a bodybuilder, the muscle goes to fat as they get older. Iams for overweight cats is a good choice. He looks happy as any other fat cat. It's not the owner's fault, cats are chowhounds.
