  • @hrs28tya Hey. Most of us weren't recovering addicts, but there were a couple. It's not a recovery community or anything though. If something like l'Abri existed in South Carolina (where I was living at the time) I would have gone there, probably. As it was, I ended up going to Switzerland because the center there started their summer term earlier than the other centers (in Vancouver, England, Massachusetts, Minnesotta, and a couple other places) so it fit better into my schedule.

  • @hrs28tya Ran out of space in the last comment, sorry. There isn't really a community in Huemoz. There are a couple of dairy farms and maybe thirty other residents. They tend to keep to themselves and go to neighboring larger towns for any gathering. The staff who are at l'Abri full time are involved in those towns, but the students are usually in and out so much that there's no time for anything except the work and study at l'Abri.
